    Today’s full flight episode gives us an interesting view into what the airports in this country are like during the Coronavirus pandemic. Although I do not show anything form inside the terminals, the evidence is quite visible outside, as you can see planes lined up on the tarmac at both Tulsa, and Houston. This was my first flight back after not having flown for the last three months due to the pandemic. The area of the country where I live has almost completely gotten back to normal. Restaurants are open, movie theaters are open, outside sporting events are happening again, etc. Overall, this area of the country has had a very low infection rate, and new cases in the last few weeks have dwindled to almost nothing. So, personally I have decided that I am comfortable flying again. However, I encourage everyone to evaluate your individual situation before you determine whether or not you are ready to travel again. If you do travel, be sure to take the new travel essentials (masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, etc.). Be smart, and travel safe everyone!

    After landing, the flight attendant's 'tone' was so typical of how much disregard and disrespect their industry has on the flying public.

    Geez!Guess the bigger airliner planes are being more grounded more than just the little jets.(Mostly I guess)

    I just want to let you know I truly enjoy your 1-2 hour flight videos! I was supposed to have taken a vacation with a friend but unfortunately we had to cancel our flight due to the pandemic. So when I watch your videos it feels like I'm truly taking a small vacation! Hopefully if all is better by next year, I'll be back up in the skies as well!
    Great video by the way! A bummer to see all those planes parked like that but hopefully they'll all be back up in the air soon!
    Thank you again for all your videos! 😀✈

      This was during the original wave of Covid, yes. When the airlines were having to park large portions of their fleets.

    Are you living in Tulsa, Oklahoma?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No, I live in the Joplin Missouri area. In this particular instance, because I was traveling to Houston to take the final Delta MD-90 flight, it made more sense for me to drive the extra hour to Tulsa so I could take a direct flight to Houston versus taking the flight out of Joplin to Dallas and then connecting. I am flying again, but I am trying to limit my exposure. At the moment, because of the pandemic, Joplin only has one departure per day to Dallas/Fort Worth. Hopefully that changes soon, we had six departures before this. Anyways, Tulsa is always my second choice of airports anyways. Joplin is close and convenient, but Tulsa is only an hour and a half away and it has a lot more options.

      Skylite Productions do you ever fly in/out of XNA?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do. I have quite a lot of XNA footage on my channel. I’d fly out of XNA more but it’s rarely cheaper than TUL. And they’re both about the same distance away from my house, so TUL usually wins out.

    At 7:34, I see that there are a lot of aircraft just sitting there. Are those aircraft grounded because of COVID-19 pandemic

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. American Airlines has their worldwide maintenance headquarters in Tulsa, so they have a lot of planes parked at TUL right now due to Covid. This will allow them to be put back into service very quickly when they are needed again.

    Why does every sentence in the description have an exclamation point?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Because I intend to convey a sense of excitement with the description. So, the exclamation point is the typical go to punctuation mark for that. In contrast, I do not intend to convey a sense of excitement with this comment, so I have used the period instead. 😂. I don’t know how else to answer that. Also, that was a very good use of the question mark in your comment, which as I’m sure you know, is another form of punctuation.

    why are all the AA planes missing the blades in their engines

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The blades are still there, you’re just seeing covers that have been put over the blades. Since the aircraft are in storage, they put covers over the engines and other openings to ensure birds don’t build nests inside those openings.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We all accept a risk of getting sick every time we go into the world. Even before the Coronavirus. Viruses are nothing new. They’ve been around since the beginning of time. I have taken the available data, and determined that I believe the risk to myself, and the other people I encounter on a daily basis, is very low. I’m confident, that with the precautions I’m taking, and the precautions the airlines are taking, that it’s never been safer to fly. We cannot live in fear constantly asking ourselves what if? I appreciate the concern my friend, but I believe I’ll be just fine. Thanks for watching!
