I like the backgrounds in both of your newer videos. This has the "hazy" PS2 loading vibe for me. Also the videos playing are helpful.

PS2 loading screen vibes are the best!

I started a month ago and the "schedule" that's working for me is practicing the stage/boss as a warm up and ending my play session with 1 or 2 full run attempts. Currently working through Mushimesama :) It tried ddp but it seemed like too much for now lol

Yes, that's exactly what I often do! Practicing specific sections and then doing full runs.
DDP was a harsh game to start out for sure, but it just happened to be the title I was intrigued by. At the time, I wasn't aware of what games were considered good for beginners or that some of them even had novice modes. I thought all of them were equally hard :) but the upside is that I ended up learning A LOT from clearing DDP.
Good luck with Mushi, it's no cakewalk either!

late comment but if it's of value to new players it might be worth writing.
However many savestates you have, I think in practice you should always do a run from stage 1 until you lose, every day, without question, with state 1 being stage 1. It's not a boomer thing necessarily, you really want to solidify your skills in the first few stages because well made games use them as practice/training for the rest of the game.
then have your extra states be points where you have issues, so each point where you advance you can save states and practice where the run didn't work out. Depending on the game upgrades might matter so you can't view savestates as absolutes, but places where you can take snapshots of your ideal optimal run, etc. With patience you'll get a feel for any game that isn't just random.

Never too late for comments! I agree that in good games the opening levels introduce you to key concepts, so it's worth paying attention to them. And stuff like upgrades and rank (or nerves) can't always be practiced in save states.
That said, I do feel there are diminishing returns once you can reliably no miss no bomb the early parts. Personally, I've grown really tired of some of the openings of games I've played a lot… So a balance of full runs and practice is the best approach, but the exact amount can vary from player to player. For beginners the early parts can be really beneficial, for sure!

Yeah it depends often on how the game is structured, you couldn't really efficiently run something like strikers 1945 from the start, since psikyo loves to randomize.
Though I agree, some games do have some diminishing returns. I really like Metal Black, but oh man, as much as I love stage 1, after running the game so much, it feels like I'm just sleeping through it.

How does 1cc allow for 1 continue? 1 credit is demo mode to gameplay, I have never seen an arcade game that allows for a continue after you’ve game over’d

It doesn't. This is a very early video and I'm talking a little clumsily here. I mean 1 credit clears, not 1 continue clears 😅
