I'm from the Chicago area, and I've been to Patel Brothers many times. The great thing about frozen Indian dishes is the ingredient list. Everything is made from simple, real ingredients, not like the frozen meals you usually find in the stores. I feel much better eating a frozen Indian meal rather than a Stouffers or Healthy Choice where half the stuff is unpronounceable! :)
I'm Black and my auntie and I shop in this store on the regular! We find great prices on ginger, lemons/limes, peppers, pineapple, spinach, shallots/onions, sweet potatoes, medjool dates.... and other produce. So in other words.... Americans are discovering the BEST prices on fresh fruits n' veggies at ethnic stores like Patel Brothers. ♥♥♥
They are probably descendants of Vallabhai Patel, the first Minister of Home Affairs of India, and Gujarati like the incumbent PM of India (who is the former CM of Gujarat).

Did you notice the "no onion no garlic'" section? So Patel Brothers is suitable for Jains and Vaishnavites! That is remarkable! Keep it up. Hope you provide all these varieties in ALL your stores. Hope you have a section marked for the lactose intolerant!
Actually the names and produce change as you move from North to South, east to west. People in East India won't recognize many grains/legumes and spices from the west
Many of them are new to me tooo... I wish I lived walking distance from this store with millions in my bank and magic potion to melt the calories away within minutes of consumption 😂😂😂😂

I studied Indian cookbooks for several years, they focused on ingredients, however more important is technique. Once I mastered that I learned to make some delicious Dahl. The cuisine can be labor intensive.
That first veggie, green, bumpy BITTER GOURD is common in Japan/Okinawa too! It’s called Goya in Japan. It’s eaten in the summer. I have even grown it too.
Patel bros has been dominating here in chicago. Now when they open new location they will have at least 1 restaurant next to it with insurance agency next to it too lol.

Wherever there is big Gujarati population, there is Patel Brothers store. It has 52 locations in USA, it has 5 location in Canada. They also have locations in UK and Australia as well. Not all locations are as big as shown in video.
Because we have mandis for these stuff. Spices are sold out in open. Bazars are whole vibe. I've never found any convenient store as convenient as a bazaar.
Probably because there is not a need to squeeze all sorts of products in one place in India when people can access them from normal shops in the market
Patel Brothers tried to open next to an well established Indian Grocery store in a suburb in Toronto, Canada about 4-5 yrs back. Withing 3 years, they kind of wound up & that store is now operating under Panchvati Supermarket.
In the soft drinks section, they had Sosyo. How did they get their hands on that? The company no longer produces it. It is actually whiskey without alcohol. It is jugad by the Gujaratis as Alcohol is illegal in Gujarat.
@@kajalvador I did hear a rumour that a Gujarathi businessman bought the formula and recipe to make it. Probably his wife loved that drink. But even then it would be only small batches. It appears these guys got their hands on it.

Love your VDO. I had been in USA for twice. My son is in Dallas and we had visited PATEL BROTHERS lots of time as we love Indian food. You have covered almost everything of the store. We are grateful to Patel Brother for providing almost everything which we are using in India. The quality of the items are better then what we are getting here in India. Yes, items are costly from here but we are rest assured that our children and country man are not missing any Indian items .

I love Patel Brothers! We have one here in Tampa. The spices especially are very fresh and very inexpensive compared to the regular supermarket. We go there often.
Reminds me of Lee Lee's Market here on AZ. An Asian market. Each isle is a country in the Asian continent. Even sells dishes to cook in or pots for tea, soups etc.
I used to stay in Dallas for 5 years and patel bros was the place to go for ur weekend groceries... i moved to San Jose and unfortunately there is no Patel bros... though there is a huge indian community here.. good video David!
Dude... there are Indian stores like every 5 miles. Go to El camino real and it's like mini India, stores for everything from jewellery to paan thelas and panipuri thelas... give it a few years and they might open a desi daaru ki dukan on that road lol.
Patel Brothers are not the only ones but probably they started it first in Devon St in Chicago in 70s there is Apna Bazaar and many others which run a chain. You can make a video of some of the neighborhoods in US like Jackson Heights NY, Edison NJ, Devon Street in Chicago, Pioneer Blvd in Artesia CA near LA which have Indian stores and restaurants. These places sell groceries at twice or thrice the prices they sell in India but indians flock there to get the tastes back home. Primarily they sell Gujarati stuff and some from Bombay, India is a vast country and diverse to have items from all over under one roof.

I have been a regular customer at patel brothers but most of thier foods are expired and they change batch number and expiry date on most stale food , always buy from Punjabi shops for fresh food

I love Patel Brothers! We have one here in Tampa. The spices especially are very fresh and very inexpensive compared to the regular supermarket. We go there often.

I used to stay in Dallas for 5 years and patel bros was the place to go for ur weekend groceries... i moved to San Jose and unfortunately there is no Patel bros... though there is a huge indian community here.. good video David!
Dude... there are Indian stores like every 5 miles. Go to El camino real and it's like mini India, stores for everything from jewellery to paan thelas and panipuri thelas... give it a few years and they might open a desi daaru ki dukan on that road lol.

Patel Brothers are not the only ones but probably they started it first in Devon St in Chicago in 70s there is Apna Bazaar and many others which run a chain. You can make a video of some of the neighborhoods in US like Jackson Heights NY, Edison NJ, Devon Street in Chicago, Pioneer Blvd in Artesia CA near LA which have Indian stores and restaurants. These places sell groceries at twice or thrice the prices they sell in India but indians flock there to get the tastes back home. Primarily they sell Gujarati stuff and some from Bombay, India is a vast country and diverse to have items from all over under one roof.
