    I buy them in the off season when they are on sale then when the local stores sell out during season I use last year's sale buys and it seems to work when everyone else can't go because of no shells I'm out slaying them.

    I hunt a pond on my dad's farm. During duck season its typically wetter than during the summer and the pond floods into the standing timber. I use Hevi Steel #4 shot 3 inch shells and my Versa Max loves them! I've had good luck with these rounds.

    Any reason you don't just buy a case of shells when you go into KC or order online? Rogers is almost always doing free shipping on ammo. Sometimes you can get rebates on full cases as well.

    Winchester expert 2 3/4 #4 seems to be the magical load for big ducks . Anything else from 3" or different size shot doesnt work as well as those #4 they are a anomaly . Choke them down to a starting point of mod choke and tighter and you will crush any duck from decoy range out to 35 yards . Just try 1 box of win expert
    2 3/4 #4 through a mod or full choke and you will be very happy with the results . Haven't used a 3" shell since I found this combo and have very few cripples if any .

      I have a buddy who shoots Rio 2-3/4" # 4's and makes them look really good with a modified choke in his SBE II. Hard to argue with a guy when he's kicking your ass in a duck blind. lol

    I buy a box a week in the off season.
    Won't break the bank and can always get it on sale.
    Plus there isn't too many other people looking for steel at that time.
    I still have 250 rnds of #2 and 100 rnds of BB.
    I'm set for next season already.

    I love 2 3/4” #6 for Teal and Woodies. I like 3” 4’s for bigger ducks, but I hunt in some areas that a shot out to 35 yds is rare, and so it doesn’t take a cannon to kill a bird. Geese? I like 3” 2’s..

    in my area we never run out ever in and out of season. as for ducks ,federal blue 4,3,2 shot in 3" works great knocks em all down out to 60 yards (providing you have proper choke) as for geese 2,1,bb also 3" out to about 50 the larger shot never seems to pattern as well for me.

    Spot on! Especially "the people at Walmart are stupid." You would think they'd listen if they can't see, but yeah, no. Mack's usually has pretty good deals on Dryloks. Lot's of Red Heads here on the south Texas coast. Big open salt flats, all public water and they get hunted hard, so 3 inch 3's for ducks and 3 inch or 3-1/2 inch BB's for geese. Two thumbs up.

    In the past i shot #6 for teal, #2 for ducks and BB for geese. Two years ago I switched to Remington hypersonic #1 and it has become my favorite for ducks and geese other than teal. But! You are correct, whatever works for you is more important than what works for someone else. Great videos, keep em coming!

  • @glockking-st4le

    Michigan here.. 3 inch for all.. #2 for ducks. BB for geese. Mid to late season the birds get thick in Michigan (gets colder than most areas) and I will use #1 and #2 for ducks and BBB for geese. This does not include early teal or wood duck. For them little jets I use #3 or #4. MOD CHOKE all day everyday. I use Federal premium (new black cloud shells old ones didn’t like so much)

    • @maisonkraft7019
      @maisonkraft7019 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christian C chokes control the shot so a full choke has a tighter spread and a modified or a improved cylinder has a wider spread... he was talking about shot size so bigger the number 7.5 or 8 is small and 7, b,bb, 2,4 is bigger shot of that helps.
