  • This week we continue our trek along the Gibb, but are met with some more bad news.
    EL Questro station (one of the highlights along the Gibb as you will see next week) is pushing up their closing date and we have to make a tough decision, head up to Mitchell falls and skip El Questro or the other way around. It is really getting to us that everywhere is closing on the promise of not enough people around, but yet we keep running into more and more travellers.... anyways that might be a rant for a future video. We decide to head towards El Questro and stop in to Ellenbrae station for the world famous Scones. If you happen to be passing by here, make sure you stop in and give these a try, they are amazing. Ellenbrae is a beautiful station stay and if we had more time we would have spent the night here.
    But we push on through some of the worst corrugations on the Gibb to make it to the Pentecost river. This iconic crossing is famous for crocodiles, barramundi and treacherous conditions but it also has one of the most beautiful backdrops with the mighty Coburn ranges in the background. For the scenery the Kimberley always has something special to offer! We spent the night at the Pentecost with our new friends that we met along the Gibb and in the morning we are heading out to El Questro station, which you will have to wait till next week to see ;)
    So far we didn't have any damages on our Unimog, but that might change next week!!!!
    PS: Please do some research before hitting the tracks, since they can change quickly and might be closed again!

    A motorcycle would be awesome addition to your adventure! Just think of all the places you could go off road. I can taste that biscuit.

      The Unimog gets us to most places ;) We did think about it but in the end we went for having more space in our habitation box for luxuries like a queen size bed, hot indoor shower, etc. Maybe in the future a boat trailer with motorbike or something similar :)

    Tough. I can feel the shaking and dust from here! Think I'd need more than A beer to salve aching bones from that trip. Hope the waterfalls, pools were worth it! On another point: If Australia is being awkward with immigration why not try New Zealand??

      Yes it was literally bone rattling.... Maybe it was more than just one beer ;)
      We have played with the option, but we would have to start from scratch and in the end our life is here, friends, "house", etc.

    How do you measure the gear box temp? Love to see where you mounted the probe

    • @PatandJele
      @PatandJele  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The hottest spots are close to the input shaft and the bottom back part of the box. That's where we mounted the probe, just on one of those bolts. If you want a pic just send us an email :)
