Easiest way to give someone the concept of how a torque converter works in basic form, is put a fan infront of another fan facing each other, and turn on one of the fans. The airflow from one fan will cause the blades of the other fan to spin. This is the same concept but instead of using air to flow over to the other fan, the torque converter does this will fluid to cause the same effect.

Right, it does have a lot of drag. But the torque converter concept shown in the video is only used to get the vehicle to start to move. When it's at X rpm it locks the device and the revs of the motor are almost fully transmitted to the gearbox, reducing the drag considerably.
@@superchargedpetrolheadhow does the torque converter not loose too much power to even drive I mean no matter how good the fan is I can't imagine a car having a spinning driveshaft connected to the wheels just because two fans rotate and the energy is transmitted through fluid
It does lose a bit more energy than manual transmission. It is a little bit inefficient. but modern torque converters have gotten so good, the energy loss is almost comparable to a transmission with clutches.

But I don't get how just by liquid the energy gets transferred to the wheels and they have enough strength still. So to sum up my question: How does the torque converter manage to transfer the kinetic energy to the wheels where they pull a thousand kilo machine?

You didnt talk about the torque converter lockup clutch that locks the converter in and out 1:1 to reduce heat and improve fuel economy

how do the turbine vary speeds while transmitting power to the wheels? Or how does the gear ratios work here?
torque convertor just replaces the clutch plates...there is a gearbox attached to it with different gear ratios

I think there would be a lot of efficiency loss in this design. Fluids have such low friction.
every automatic transmission car uses this design

Torque converter has a reliability of a CVT and driveability of almost a DCT...!!! Best best gearbox for any car.
