Thank you for publicising this amazing,humble quiet achiever.His strength of character and unflinching honesty even gained the respect of monsters like Stalin.I would point out a couple of things to add.1 Marshall's 'lifelong dream' was not becoming chief of staff of the army.Like Eisenhower,He wanted to command troops in the field.Also,like Ike,he was a very committed Christian,something that would hamper your chances for high rank in a military career nowdays.
i always wondered how marshall would've handled the koren conflict not as secretary of defense.. like if he was put back as chief of staff. or chairman of the joint chiefs.
