6 years on, and it's still Nice Video! Thank you for sharing your knowlege. But it's a shame you haven't had access to read Carl Petersen's records from the trip. He was interpreter for both Kane and Penny: Carl Petersen: Erindringer fra Polarlandene optegnede af Carl Petersen, tolk ved Penny's og Kane's Expeditioner, 1850-55, Publisher: P.G. Philipsens Forlag, 1857 He's diary sometimes differs slightly from the Expedition leaders'😉😉 Danish historian and author Nils Aage Jensen has written a wonderful book about Carl Petersen, but also a collection of articles about all the Polar "rockstars" as you so cleverly called them. Knud Rasmussen 😎was realy "hot" in Denmark, a celebrety of the day. The book is called Polarsvindlerne 😆(The Polar Swindlers) . I wish you could read it 🥰 Peace and love

As a brazilian, most of confederados integrated to brazilian society, if not the first generation, at least second generation onward. Famous musician Rita Lee (guess where the Lee came from), comedian Gregorio Duvivier and former supreme court justice Ellen Gracie are third and fourth generation descendants. Those that stuck to the flag and rituals are a minority, but they also integrated somewhat.

The reason there were free blacks ion the confederate army is because the north was prejudice and we’re destroying free black towns and plantations and farms. The south had more free blacks then it had slaves but the north was just indiscriminately killing and destroying everything in the south

First, thank you for researching and fact checking well beyond most everyone talking about US Flags on the Internet. Note, the date of that payment from a Pennsylvania institution to Betsy Ross predates the Continental Congress taking up the national flag need. Flag seamstress work was typically not paid in advance and work for Congress or future President (as Ross' grandson told the story) would not have been paid for by Pennsylvania. She was likely paid to create naval ensigns for Pennsylvania boats. The shape and orientation of ensigns would have no relationship to our national flag.

If your made up person existed, that former slave fought for slavery, not to end it. (Read Lincoln's letter to Greeley for example) It had nothing to do with slavery, it was all about saving the union (Uncle Sam). And Uncle Sam made everyone a slave on February 21, 1871 the "united states" shall be known as a federal corporation. You work for that corporation, they own the American plantation, all 2.1 billion acres, you are sharecroppers at best, NOBODY owns land now.

"Confederate culture" is a hell of a stretch. They're not enslaving nor subjugating racial minorities. They're not creating plantations. They're waving the flag without much thought (like Americans do with the Ukrainian flag right now), and eating the foods of the region, while dancing to music that one might approximate Confederates listened to. It's a "celebration of Confederate culture" as much as St. Patrick's Day is a "celebration of Irish culture." It's BARELY lip service and almost nobody has any idea what any of it is about. But you gotta throw a slant in there in 2022 to get those clicks!
