Hahaha thanks dude. Definitely wasn't able to do it during the first several rehearsals but it got better over time. All about that breath support haha
Thank you so much Ellie! It was definitely a challenge and I was doing a lot of cardio at the gym at the time to try and expand my lungs. A lot of breathing exercises before I went on stage as well!
In Ryan's defense, Darius de Haas had the song raised a whole step (from G Major to A Major) at the Papermill Playhouse Production because it fit better in his voice. So - all subsequent Cain's will have to have to face this "criticism." The score to the song is only available in G major. Ryan - you did a great job! (Only - I bet you could find your own riffs that might be even better than the original!)
I've been listening to this song since 2003 when I played Adam in our production of Children of Eden. I was very impressed with your performance within these 16 years. You were able to hit those high riffs with ease. Hats off!
I never made this world, I didn't even lose it And I know no one said it was fair But they had a garden once They had the chance to choose it They gave it away including my share And now we're lost in wilderness Lost, crying in the wilderness And if anyone's watching it seems they couldn't care less We're lost wilderness You follow all the rules You swallow all the stories And every night you wish on a star Dreaming your day will come, trusting in allegories And every morning boy look where you are Lost in the Wilderness Lost, slowly dying in the wilderness With no chance of living boy, until you confess You're lost in the wilderness Don't you ever watch the eagle fly to the sun And wonder how he got to be so free If you ever have you know your journey's begun Hey what've we got to lose boy, when already we are Lost in the wilderness And where we are headed boy, I couldn't guess but Off we go without a warning Running as we hit the ground Where our future lies a-borning Where our hearts are outward bound Till one bright and distant morning We may stop and look around And there in the wilderness Finally we'll be found!
thanks man! really appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately, I dont really have any advice for you. I am self taught so I just practice different techniques and placements. This song took some work but I finally got it.
I’m doing this song as a solo for districts this year and I can’t find sheet music in A major I can only find it in G major which is what I believe this is in?
Well this is technically the original key, it was supposed to be in this key but the original singer had a higher voice and wanted to do it in A major, but it was originally written in G major

G Major. The original published key. However, the original Cain had it raised to A Major. I wish I could have sang it in the original key but they wouldn't let me.
This generation is the worst of all generations I'm speaking from realness and truth you could take all the offense you want. Today the ignorance is greater than the days of Noah so is the strife what can I say this is the situation that is present you have assisted Your enemies which are God enemies in so many ways you straight up ignore me let me down allowed the devil to use my son to being him down who's side do you think you are on? Where are the offerings? Where the loyalty?
Yes the production now has Lost in the Wilderness down half a step. They wouldnt change the charts for the entire orchestra just so I could sing it higher.
Filming was prohibited for this show just like many professional musicals. I was lucky enough to obtain this video and it was only taken for reference purposes. I wish they zoomed in as well!
I'd be outta BREATH with all that running, and I can run around a stage pretty decently.
Kudos on that skill, craft, and endurance.
Hahaha thanks dude. Definitely wasn't able to do it during the first several rehearsals but it got better over time. All about that breath support haha
i keep coming back to this video to watch 2:43. you have one of the most effortless high registers i've ever heard.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it!!
I LOVE this song and this musical. You did SUCH a wonderful performance as Cain. I can only imagine how out of breath you must have been afterward!!
I aspire to have the same stamina and control of running around and singing! This is just beautiful.
Thank you so much Ellie! It was definitely a challenge and I was doing a lot of cardio at the gym at the time to try and expand my lungs. A lot of breathing exercises before I went on stage as well!
@@RyanJDriscoll I love this! Thanks so much for sharing! 😇

Thank you! Wish I could have sung it in the higher key but wasn't allowed to.
Well this is like... the hardest song I’ve ever heard. Baritones, single file behind me, we out. TO THE LAND OF LOWERED KEY!
Hahahaha everyone has their own range. I wish I could sing lower
I've been listening to this song since 2003 when I played Adam in our production of Children of Eden. I was very impressed with your performance within these 16 years. You were able to hit those high riffs with ease. Hats off!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for posting a high quality performance in the song’s original key. I’m doing the part in about a month and needed a good reference point.
Wow, this was incredible!
Thank you so much!
We won’t be the first ones to break a promise. I love that line. Great job!!

I love this song. Ryan you are wonderful, your voice and presence is unbelievable.
Thank you so much Bob!
Is there a full version of this? I wish High schools would put on production of this. Probably one of the most underrated musicals ever.
Where has this video been??? This is SO good, how you guys aren't Broadway stars is beyond me
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!
Those rifts were perfect! Thanks for sharing:)

One of my favorite plays and this is the best version I've heard of this song! Amazing!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it
So good!!!!! (It bears repeating)
Thank you!
Definitely one of the best I've heard. I can tell you have more range than the song lets you show. Effortless.
Thank you so much! I did want to sing it in the higher key but MTI only gave us the original.
I’m playing this part this summer! I’ll definitely use this recording as some inspiration for my character
Amazing! Hope you had a great experience!
I like these actors.

Lost in the Wilderness

Great lyrics. Loved this show.
What key is this in? It’s perfect for your voice!
Thank you. I cant remember the key. But its the original key.
Great singing. Where was this? Blocking maybe coulda been more varied in beginning.
Thank you so much. This production was in Thousand Oaks, CA last year.
I was zebra / kids choir at my church I was in in ct anymore of this version
Hahahha
what key was this sung in?
G Major. The original published key. However, the original Cain had it raised to A Major. I wish I could have sang it in the original key but they wouldn't let me.
God-DAMNNNNNNNNNN
Hahaha thank you!
They didn’t have shoes in biblical times but they had Dockers?
We were barefoot! Haha
I have to sing this song and I don’t know if I can top this
Thank you so much. Definitely not an easy song.
What key is this in????
Not the original key because they no longer make orchestrations in that key. Its a half step below the original

This sounds like it's down a couple steps from the original recording. Good job either way.
Yes the production now has Lost in the Wilderness down half a step. They wouldnt change the charts for the entire orchestra just so I could sing it higher.
I think in is in G major
Why are people who film stuff like this so reluctant to zoom in so we can actually see the actors properly. Annoying!
Filming was prohibited for this show just like many professional musicals. I was lucky enough to obtain this video and it was only taken for reference purposes. I wish they zoomed in as well!
