Ok, so first I want to thank you so much for video it gave me a good base of what I need to know for the exam I know your video was 2 years ago so since I just took the test today I want to give a heads up on a couple things I needed but wasn’t aware because it wasn’t even in the supply list biohazard bag, and makeup drape and and how to do a mummy mask totally caught me. I’m praying I passed because my instructor was giving me directions of what to do but since she didn’t say to map the brow I didn’t but I’m sure I should have anyway and I forgot to put the eye pads for the extractions I was so nervous as she watched me.

i went to school in rochester where they held the practical state board my teacher was one of the state board instructors and they all said the face shield is no longer required just a mask.
Do all the makeup items have to be brand new? I want to use the makeup I already own and just use a popsicle stick to place on the palette? Or should I buy all new? I have my practical in 6 days 😅
I have a question : So what do you actually put in your " Clean " Container Vs. in each seperate section like make-up, Facial Etc, Container? So far I'm gathering : Tweezers! Extra popsicle sticks , what else???
She did no skin analysis hydration ? Conditions, type, elasticity, thickness, texture, sensitivity? They will ask you and that’s a huge part to leave out.

Can you please tell me when you took your state board exam if it was virtual or not many states are offering virtual testing?? I'm in Michigan and it's supposed to start in November and I can't wait so that we don't have to go to a testing location you can take it in the privacy of your own home. Have you thought about going back to get your instructors license and if not why?? Since it is student loan forgiveness I strongly suggest that you go forward
I took the exam in person, not virtual. They didn’t offer a virtual version when I took it. And I’d love to get my instructors license!! I’m in nursing school now so I just don’t have time currently but maybe next year!

I give u props girl but I'm wondering why when you are simulating your waxing, you are not holding the "skin" taught..that's very important and they can deduct points for that.

My instructor told us to use extraction tools instead of fingers. She also said we need to make our own cotton pads and not use store bought. I'm so confused.
The New York State boards want you to use your fingers, not tools. Everyone I know has used store bought cotton pads, but I’m sure it’s up to you if you want to make your own!
I don’t mean to confuse you, this video just explains everything that I did that led to me passing the exam, so take that for what you will and do what you are comfortable with!
I’m so sorry I just saw this, I was not asked about the skin type and I just used a random cream mask that I had. I recommend using something that is a different color than the mannequin’s skin so it stands out.
This helped a lot I graduate in February. How come you didn’t put gloves on when you put the toner and powder on face for waxing and when cleansing the face? Is it not required?
Nope! The guidelines they give on the nys licensing website only require you to wear gloves right when going to wax the lip. And it is not required during cleansing either.

We did not have to do a mummy mask!
It’s optional I recommend it a 100% it’s way easier to clean the treatment mask off

U do need 2 clean bins...one labeled clean and one labeled dirty

We were recommended in my school for it to be preferably light colored sheets with no patterns so it doesn’t necessarily need to be white
