Hi Russell, This video brought back memories of my childhood. When I was in Russia, my parents used to take me to international food exhibitions because they represented Sri Lankan Ceylon tea stalls, and when I was going around the exhibition without any fear, the Russians gave me a lot of sweet boxes to take home, and they treated me well even though I was a tan-coloured kid who spoke Russian at the time. Not only in this video,I can see some places in your videos where I visited Moscow City when I was small. I really missed those days. I still very much love Russia and its people, because Russians are very humble and very nice people. For the last couple of years, I've been preparing to move to Canada with my family. However, since you and another five TH-camrs are showing Russia from true angles, I really want to visit Russia again because I love Russia, where I was born (I was born in 1989 in the USSR). Still, I'm getting hurt if someone blames or discriminates against Russia in front of me, because here we can see a lot of Western propaganda. However, you are doing a great job, Russell. Please keep exploring more about Russia and its rich culture. Thank you, and God bless.
I am quite old, but I have no complaints about my health, perhaps because I have been drinking large quantities of Ceylon tea all my life. It was available in the USSR and now in Russia. And now I am writing this comment over a cup of Ceylon tea.

@@scotland638yeah, right, because sugar supplements are sooo much better for your health. I guess it's not taught outside Tsar's Russia that even the most harmless supplements will trigger insulin response either way, which is even worse, given the sugar is not actually coming into blood. Interesting to see all the fuss about Pringles, but in the UK most of the smaller supermarket don't even stock them. They are not terribly popular. You can find them, but I would not even think of Pringles if I wanted potato chips or crisps. There are so many other brands, Pringles taste a bit too chemical to me. Other brands make nicer crisps and chips.
You're right. Many people don't like Pringles. As far as I know, they are not even made from potatoes, but from starch (which is why they are all the same size). Why their price is higher than more delicious chips is not clear at all
Yes, the taste is kind of "chemical". I don't taste proper potato flavour in them. And also the texture of Pringles is not pleasant. They have sharp edges which feel painful in the mouth. I really hate Pringles I can say honestly. And to charge more for this chemical nightmare is just criminal!!!! @@cbrnix

I do not know who did the translation for that coffee company but Hausbrandt is an old-fashioned spelling of the German word for home fire. I think they wanted to say private label or house brand.
Before you mentioned China 🇨🇳 i had a feeling China had a big part lol, Their making the most of the Russian market. The food is highly processed food. Thanks for sharing 👍
I can also see that there's a lot of talk about Kit-Kats and their so called "departure" from Russia. But if we actually look at what Kit-Kat really is and the awful taste of it, should we even care about Kit-Kats. It is a very bland taste, nothing special when it comes to texture and the horrific health and nutrition value of Kit-Kat warrants this entire brand to be on permanent ban list for all countries of the world. I'd put Kit-Kats in the same toxic category with Hersheys. A category you don't want to see, smell or touch, let alone bring closer to your mouth. Russians should be grateful that this toxic waste sold under such names as Kit-Kat and Hersheys isn't going to contaminate their shelves going forward, hopefully, with god's blessing.
My friend, in Russia no one talks about Kit Kat, just like Coca Cola, chips, etc. These are all the preferences of the Australian Russell. It is also very strange for Russians to listen to his constant mentions of Coca-Cola, chips and other junk food. I completely agree with everything you wrote.
Those mangoes from Turkey look superb, similar to the "champagne" or "Ataulfo" mangoes from Mexico sold in the US. When I lived in Cairo, there were wonderful mangoes there as well.
Great video! Macadamias are my favorite but I thought only Hawaii grew them. Are they as outrageously expensive there as they are here? It's about $9 for a 5oz pack of roasted salted.
Buying them in lager packaging brings the price down a lot here, also buying them in shells already. A lot of Macadamias also come from the Philippines.
5:59 Hausbrandt a very good company of Italian coffee. The company has not a proper Italian name since it was founded in 1892 in Trieste which at the time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Yes we do have these! I was in food research for 30 years before retiring. They hold large food expos for new products with tasting every year but it is only for industry people. The public does not come in. The tickets would be very expensive (like $100 or more per day) and your company would pay to send you. Mine sent a large group every year and the expo was held in Orlando FL so everyone went to Disney as well!
How you ever done Dodo Pizza or any other russian restaurant? How about "New York Pizza" it started in a city where 8 live (Novosibirsk) by a guy from America.
Macadamia and some over asian nuts, - yes i taste it, and macadamia in particular is pretty popular in Russia. Halva - since big part of Russia is muslim states - its even more popular here, even outside muslim regions. Turkish products is a popular thing, especially in recent years. Especially in the "turkish'/muslim food" area, which is, again, popular thing among non-muslims too. China was a huge part in many areas in Russia, and only grow since sanctions. Thailand and Vietnam have some solid niches. Korean and Japan stuff is very popular, but mostly a rare thing. In recent years Russian food grow more in area of traditional and original way, like pinecone jam. P.S. Germany being Germany xD
Насчёт чипсов со вкусом сыра и лука - когда в России только начали появляться разные вкусы чипсов, компания Lays выпускала и такой вкус, но, похоже, он не был очень популярен. Люди больше любят вкус сметаны и лука.
Turkish delight is delightful! Have bought it in the US as well as in Paris near St. Michel in the open-air markets. Feel free to show us the different varieties of Turkish delight available for sale in RF. TIA
Very interesting video - but obviously with a lot of west European countries, as well as Australia, New Zealand, USA etc all not to be found there. Needless to say - I'm sure there will be plenty of other countries there, ready to fill their void & take their place in the Russian market.
Russia has banned Western food products produced in the West. Only processing of Russian products on Russian territory is allowed. This ban is part of retaliatory sanctions to Western sanctions. sanctions on Western products were introduced in 2014. so when Coca-Cola and McDonald's left Russia in 2022, it was simply ridiculous.

Exactly. You really get to see how many types of food and drinks there are in the world once you attend one of these events. So many new things beyond the normal choices in local supermarkets.
I liked it when you got to the healthy food stalls.

Really enjoyed this video. I'd love it there! All the free tasting. I'm from Melbourne Australia. Introduced to yummy Halva by Polish friends and Caviar from my best long time friend who's from Sweden. I'm on a low salt diet so no chips for me. I'd enjoy the Kit Kat though. Mangoes look delicious 😋 ❤❤
Hello Russell, we love your videos in switzerland,,,,
The quality of your broadcasts just keeps getting better! 😊

Cool video! Thanks Russell!
Glad you liked it! No worries.
Hi Russell, What an informative food video. The caviar booth looks good & the live sturgeon swimming in the tank look healthy.
If you get a chance, look for Vegetarian Bacon 🥓 Salt. It's tasty & versatile additive to potatoes 🥔, gravy, egg, hummus, pasta & even tofu dishes. Goes well with pelmeni dishes & with cheese 🧀 piroshkis. 😋

Halva is very popular in Russia I think every Russian ate halva

Да, халва очень популярна в России. Очень много видов. Даже есть из Египта, очень вкусная!!!

Brisbane here. Another excellent video mate. This is great. It shows the pointless and nonsensical nature of the sanctions against Russia and stupidity of our politicians to try to isolate the largest country in the world... Utter stupidity!! Keep up the good work mate and support for Russia from Australia!!!!!!
Thanks. I wish I could have shown some Aussies items in this expo. You can buy more than enough wine in the stores. Along with Bundaberg Ginger Ale in so many different stores.
I stopped drink Coca Cola after their "be less white" fuzz. When Pepsi left i felt like i finally stopped drinking soft drinks. But Черноголовка made me change my mind again :))) But at least i can'r drink Cola and other western drink again - they are tooooo sugary.

@@scotland638yeah, right, because sugar supplements are sooo much better for your health. I guess it's not taught outside Tsar's Russia that even the most harmless supplements will trigger insulin response either way, which is even worse, given the sugar is not actually coming into blood. That means you will more likely get diabetes drinking "sugar free" soda than a usual one, which means the obvious choice would be just to have less sugar if you want something sweet.

@@cbrnix

What a fun time! Glad to see no bug food! They keep pushing that in the EU/WEF.

of course not at all surprising that "Russian Popcorn" on box notes "since 1991" . . . excellent tour of a food convention -- Thanks much, Russell.

I do not know who did the translation for that coffee company but Hausbrandt is an old-fashioned spelling of the German word for home fire. I think they wanted to say private label or house brand.
Before you mentioned China 🇨🇳 i had a feeling China had a big part lol,
Their making the most of the Russian market.
The food is highly processed food.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Interesting!
Russians should be grateful that this toxic waste sold under such names as Kit-Kat and Hersheys isn't going to contaminate their shelves going forward, hopefully, with god's blessing.
whi cares about them? lol

I can assure you they were super tasty.
Great video! Macadamias are my favorite but I thought only Hawaii grew them. Are they as outrageously expensive there as they are here? It's about $9 for a 5oz pack of roasted salted.
Buying them in lager packaging brings the price down a lot here, also buying them in shells already. A lot of Macadamias also come from the Philippines.
not expensive
В поиске выдает что больше всего макадамии производят Австралия и Южная Африка.
Minsk, Belarus (well, almost Russia :) - about $12-15 for one kilo on my local market (think it's ~35 oz).
I thought (like Russell) only Australia.
5:59 Hausbrandt a very good company of Italian coffee. The company has not a proper Italian name since it was founded in 1892 in Trieste which at the time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Bravo
Yes we do have these! I was in food research for 30 years before retiring. They hold large food expos for new products with tasting every year but it is only for industry people. The public does not come in. The tickets would be very expensive (like $100 or more per day) and your company would pay to send you. Mine sent a large group every year and the expo was held in Orlando FL so everyone went to Disney as well!
It is mainly fast-food stuff; I am more into good-healthy food: the traditional kitchen, and fine wines!
At this expo there was very little "fast food" items. They have different expos for that.
I've had halva before. Sometimes it called hallawah. I like it.
Interesting. Thanks.

Right, it's a slightly different pronunciation of the name.
Very interesting video - but obviously with a lot of west European countries, as well as Australia, New Zealand, USA etc all not to be found there. Needless to say - I'm sure there will be plenty of other countries there, ready to fill their void & take their place in the Russian market.
Мы рады, что нет западных стран. Россия производит огромное колличество своих продуктов, свежих и полезных.
