While you are right that Jimmy's father probably would have tanked his own business in the end, but Chuck said that $14k had gone missing; that is from the till and not accounted for. His father would have accounted for the money he kept giving away. So that $14k, if correct, was down to Jimmy. Anyway, rightly or wrongly, Chuck certainly blames Jimmy for his father's (early) death. Now that doesn't absolve Chuck, but it does make his attitude toward Jimmy more understandable. And given what you now know of Jimmy's character (and the assessment you heard from Chuck a few episodes ago), Chuck has Jimmy 'bang-to-rights', as they say. He said he wasn't a bad person, he just always managed to find a way to justify whatever scam he was pulling, and then others had to pick up the pieces. A scam artist like Jimmy has no business being near the law, at least as far as Chuck sees things. Continue to reserve judgement is all I can say. Wait till you get the full picture...

Was Chuck right about Jimmy stealing money from his father, yes and no....The flashback confirmed that Jimmy contributed, but it definitely doesn't confirm that Jimmy took all of the missing $14k like Chuck claims. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Jimmy did take money from his dad, but judging from the flashback his dad was a pretty naive shitty business owner giving away money like that. Odds are he probably would've tanked his business whether Jimmy started taking money or not. So Chuck's story wasn't completely accurate.
I still don’t believe that Jimmy ruined his dad’s business to the extent that Chuck is blaming him. Clearly dad was already well known to have his charity taken advantage of straight from the register. Dad gave the con man $10. The con man ‘bought’ 2 carton’s for $8. Jimmy just kept the same $8 that was part of the $10 that dad already gave away. So Jimmy is responsible for whatever the wholesale is for the cigarettes but the dad is responsible for $10 from the register.
