There is something spiritual and special about Deep Purple, whenever they get a new member, the group is reborn, and the new member starts reaching new heights if musical quality.
I saw Blackmore with Rainbow '82 and 8x with Deep Purple '85 and '87. I saw Morse '87 with Kansas. Also Satriani I saw at Flyinng in a blue Dream-Tour. I have to see McBride with Deep Purple sometime; what a Master, this Simon
They still are so fantastic ,the best band in the world for all those years ;I'm looking forward to the box in july ( why can't it be today) and their gig in Oktober. I saw them again 2 years ago already with Simon and the concert was amazing.
for this part and time we live in now the guitarists that have imprest me are steve morse and way back in time ritchie blackmoore was a world class guitar god.
Simon mcbride is king Arthur and a wonderful musician,, Steve morse,is a American Eagel, and wonderful for American bands, Simon mcbride give Deep purple and English color,,,, but Simon mcbride never ever who'd by the man for the Dixie Dregs, hoop you now what I mean, greetings from belgium ivo opdebeeck

I saw the brightness, but also the darkness, of Mk ll. I saw the newfound joy in Mk Satriani, and the stability in Mk Morse. I’m looking forward to discover the talent of Mk McBride. Derp Purple is like an old English oak with deep roots. It grows stronger for each day.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. I will always remember the concert in Zurich in 1985. The most beautiful concert of my life. Ritchie playing bass, Roger on guitar and something special in the air.
It was the second (additional) concert at ZH. Almost 40 years have passed and I still have a ticket. The atmosphere was amazing, Roger played the song "Smoke on the water" on the guitar. The atmosphere in the group was terrible, but it was wonderful on stage. I was 22 years old, I was from the Eastern Bloc and I felt as if I had met God. Ian appeared with Roger after the concert, they were a few meters away from us. I couldn't say a word from the impression. .He asked for a ticket, I was offered $800 and I didn't sell it. In Poland it was 3 or 4 years of work. Dreams are not sold.
What are peoples' thoughts on the new guitarist Simon McBride ? I have never heard him before. He's pretty good I reckon. Hopefully at least as good as Steve Morse.
He's a great player, used to see him quite regularly gigging around Belfast in Sweet Savage (Vivian Campbell's old band). I liked Steve but I prefer the way Simon plays the old stuff pretty much as the record. I love his sound, it's really clear and precise. He's proving to be a great fit in Deep Purple....he played with Don Airey's solo and and Gillan's solo band so I guess he was the obvious choice. Good luck to him.
I much prefer his tone to Steve's. It's more rocky and gutsy. Doesn't hurt that Gary Moore is my favourite guitarist ever and Simon isn't just from Northern Ireland but a serious student of Gary's playing. Fun fact: Both Don Airey and Ian Paice were in Gary's band in the 80s.
@@stevenjohnston2263Total wank Ritchie left 31 years ago..he was great and I saw him several times with DP and one of his last gigs..but bands with longevity always have different members its just how it is...a real DP fan embraces all of their work.
Deep Purple is the guitar of Blackmore, the keyboards of Lord the beats of Paice, it is proven with MK 2, BURN, PERFECT STRANGERS .... that is like the Ian Gillan Band ....
He's a good player. No doubt about it. But it's not really Deep Purple without Ritchie Blackmore. That's not a criticism of McBride. But the essence of Purple was Ritchie.
Ok, Simon is Gary Moore fan but why he plays Gary's "End of the World" solo from note to note on DP concert? Yes I'm a huge Purple fan since 1980 and Simon is great player but... ehh?
Don Airey and Simon McBride are very good musicians and certainly good composers, but on stage, it is another thing. I loved Deep Purple when, on stage, you never knew what was going to happen from one second to another. That is exactly the spirit, the concept, the soul of this band. Today, everything is too predictable. Every night exactly the same thing. It is becoming boring, as this guitar solo. A sort of technical demonstration without any emotion. Sorry.
Simon is more towards a heavier side and close to blackmore style, while steve morse is more Jazz, Blues, funky and he is more into former deep purple guitarist the late Tommy Bolin style.
Was so limítate in his solos , repetitions during all of tunes . Perhaps Simon came with new ideas and evolution on stage along the time . Let's see ..
The guitar is heartless and has a terrible sound, the keyboardist, while playing, screams "pa-pa-pa". I don't know which of them ("guitarist" and "keyboardist") is more shameful, I think they compete with each other in this. In the end, in my opinion, Gillan, Pace and Glover could have done on their own without them. One can only wonder where they get their strength from, but no doubt they sound as legendary and professional as ever! They kept the Deep Purple brand! Glory and huge thanks to them, our veterans, good health!
@@user-kp4nd2ng1v You're right, but Deep Purple is a very particular concept of live music. Glad old Paice is still there and is the heart of Purple
Great solo especially remembering Gary Moore
Yeah

Steve Morse now Simon McBride keeping deep purple rocking...great!
Great homage to Gary Moore from Simon McBride there - awesome! 😀

Simon is the kick in the ass they needed since Blackmore's departure.. I loved Steve but never in Purple
