- The mythic Audi Quattro of Group B fame, in both A2 and S1 versions, saw its competitive life extended on Hillclimb Racing where some crazy people took an already Monstruous machine and decided not only that it should be raced seriously, but that it could be improved and given even more power. Here are Some of the best examples.

The most terrifying engine sound of any rally car. It sounds like a monster screaming with rage that nothing can stop.
Gotta love the 20v 5cyl. One of the best sounding motors ever produced hands down. The first car in your video has a ton of compressor surge. As cool as it sounds, it'll cause longevity issues with the turbo.
Well the turbo doesn't have to last long. As long as its functional for the couple minutes it's used to the max, making God like turbo noises then I'm a happ boi

In a street car it's a problem. In race cars, they have to have such a tight spring on the bypass valve to keep it from coming open under regular acceleration. The turbo will be rebuilt or replaced soon, so they don't really care.
That’s not compressor surge. The sound you’re referring to is happening when the throttle is closed, it’s the charge air going back out through the compressor, which chops up the air making that distinct noise.
Compressor surge happens when the throttle is open and the engine is under load and the turbo is trying to flow more air than the engine can consume at that particular moment.
In my experience, compressor surge doesn’t typically make that sort of noise, it’s more of a flutter than a chirp.

The ProSpeed S1 is just so unreal.... I've seen it live 3 times and every time it's like a dream. The sound of this monster is beyond belief and Nicky Zlatkov just drives the wheels off that car every time.
Niki Zlatkov. Yeah, and he is getting better all the time. This must be a real beast to tame., especially in respect to braking balance and wanting to swap ends entering corners under hard braking. I notice he was doing some excellent drifts which I hadn't seen him do much before. A couple of years ago the back end wasoften stepping out under brakes. That car is just bonkers. If I had the money.........

i don't know about you guys but for me this is the best music ...that car , those tires screaming under braking and acceleration , that turbo and the exhaust ...pure love !!!!! As soon as i can afford it i will buy it !!!!

The 10v LWB car gives THE definitive quattro soundtrack. The chattering wastegate on later variants was always a nuisance, but ohhh that 5-cylinder roar on long straights... absolute magic.

I am a poor guy whit no money, Who loves the 5 cylinder engines sound. I found the Audi 80 2.3E , for 1000 euros , the car It is not powerfull at all (133hp) but fuck, when a turn on the engine and drive, i feel Happy :)

@3:57 I was at the start line when this car started this run. On his first try the the piping for the turbo disconnected and everyone thought that blew the motor. Second run went without a problem.

Weird that everybody talks about Forza and Gran Turismo if it comes to car sounds, but damn, codemasters was on spot with this beauty's sound. Perfect match, maybe except the whistle when releasing throttle, but that's just a minor detaile.

I feel a bit sad for the future generations of motorsport fans who will likely never be able to hear or see first-hand racecars that are as ridiculously beautiful-vicious-sounding & fast as these pieces-of-art-on-wheels. I just don't think that 'Zzzzzzing' will get a fan's blood pumping in the way that hearing the absolutely raw aggressive angry sounds that cars like these produce does. :-(

Pikes Peak is now completely destroyed thanks to the motorhome pussies having it paved all the way. The challenge was to have a car set up for both surfaces and go fast, like the early runs from Euro rally men.
Dartmoor Dave it was paved because the abuse on it was wearing the road down. By now, if it wasn’t paved, pikes peak would be gone.

Nothing like the forests of New Zealand in the 80s when they were driven in anger by the best rally drivers in the world I still remember them coming through the forest at full speed belching flames the echo off the trees nothing can describe the Group B days sad about all the death's but something I will never forget especially Michelle Mouton when she drove fuck could she drive same with Ari Vatenen and Hanu Michola
Plus she nearly won a championship. She held herself superbly in what is essentially a mans world, especially in the Group B days.

Had some "Afterfire" there. Afterfire is out exhaust and is okay, sometimes even helpful. "Backfire" on the other hand is out the intake and never a good thing, the engine is trying to run backwards.

I know Audi is basically dead nowdays with ugly designs and electric trash vehicles but they should adopt the VW technology and create a W10 using this 5 cyclinder engine. 2 engines mixed together. I can't even imagine the kind of savagery it would come out of it.
