I just read the behind the scenes of the recording of this song & video. It is so amazing to me that this was all done live, in that building. You can hear the echo of the choir's voices, you can hear Justin put on his guitar, You can hear him humming, you can hear everything. I really think the audio, production & filming personnel all deserve a well earned round of applause. And of course, Justin & Chris, along with the band members & choir deserve that big round of applause as well. My hat off to all of you for a beautiful job well done.

@@arpitsrivstva unless the article I read was complete bullshit, yes it was all live. The audio people had one hell of a time keeping certain instruments from echoing all to hell & back, overwhelming everything else, like the drums & high hat, the brass. It was quite an extensive interview with the audio producers, so that is why I am taking it as true. Maybe someone else will read the article & come up with a different conclusion, or maybe I misunderstood what they were saying, but I know what I read rang true because of what I heard in the video. What I heard made me go looking for information, because it sounded live to me.

@@Fawkes2574 what is amazing to me is this was not just a first take on a video, this was the music live. Justin is good enough that I doubt he ever takes more than 1 or 2 takes to do a video where the music is generally dubbed in & they are lip syncing, like most other bands. But this music was not dubbed, they were NOT lip syncing.
My son, John E. Walker worked as an additional sound engineer on this. He was very impressed with the director mainly as well as "ninja camera guy", location, and the organization and professionalism of all. That is how they were able to get this in one take!
As far as sound goes, I can only speak to my son who is meticulous in his work, quiet and unobtrusive in life and
on set, an artist initially so usually thinks he could do better. At least when he is the sound mixer, he completes a gig to satisfaction from home. (He's a great Husband, Dad, son and all around kind person. I love you Maneens! Always proud mama.

Watching this, and coming to the realization of how many months of planning, location scouting, rehearsals, all to come down to the day of filming and nail it in one take, is beyond impressive. To top that off, is a brilliantly structured, written and played song. I don't even understand how this level of skill and talent can exist.

one of the most complete performances I have ever seen. I used this music, and this video, to rise out of my own ashes after a devastating divorce. I have seen him in concert, primarily as a way to thank him for helping guide me out of the darkness.

Chris Stapleton has a voice that will bring someone back from the dead. The fucking soul and emotion that man puts into his music is beyond explanation. He's one of the most underrated artists of all time.
This song reminds me of my eldest son (hes my stepson but never thought of him of a step ..why would I step on him) he passed last week and we just buried him and this was a song he always played n had the CD in his truck when we cruised ...so hearing this after he passed made me cry but it's a good song I'll always listen to it!
