Oh aren't you the clever one? I have two concerns though. I think over time having a wooden shaft, especially in such small diameter, you are going to get a stress crack and when it breaks, you might get injured, I will use a metal spindle. Also, it may be that small, very small pieces of metal might dislodge from the drilled holes in the can - I think I might look for a round grater, or dismantle a regular one. Thank you though, this was very inventive. I especially liked the idea you used to "infinitely" adjust the spin speed. I have a variable drill that has a button and you can set it for that speed, but yours is better because you can more quickly adjust the speed.

This would be great to shred leaves too. No need to buy those expensive machines! A bigger version should do the trick.
