    Your zipper tutorial is the best! I keep coming back to it over and over again for all my projects with zippers.

    I just wanted to say I love your tutorials...you put things in such a simple way. It has inspired me to get sewing again !! I'm starting with this Poppy Pillow project for when my daughter needs to feed her baby at my house ( I already bought her a Boppy Pillow @ $100AUD...money well spent I might add), but now she won't have to cart her pillow around here any more :) Thanks so much x

    I used pastel green fleece to make my own cover! Instructions were great and easy to follow! My pillow is now so soft and cuddly! Thank you!!

    I had to make some adjustments to the pattern to fit my off-brand pillow, but aside from that this tutorial was wonderful. Thank you for helping me sew my first zipper!

    This tutorial is very helpful and the directions are very clear. Thank you so much! I had a blast making my own poppy pillow.

    Just made this...I'm so glad I went with my gut feeling and bought a yard of fabric. I folded it in half and then again to get a rectangle then I had enough to place on the fold and get two pieces out of it. 2nd issue was sewing the zipper followed the directions from the video and ended up with holes at the end of the zipper. I went through and sewed a stop line at each end combining the two zipper halves and then angled a seam from there until it went into the regular 1/4 in seam. In sewing terms, 3/8 and a 1/2 in seam allowance is 4/8. Also in the video on stuffing the poppy- said she used 32 oz of batting. You only need 1/2 that amount or else it is hard as a rock. I tried the slipcover on a boppy and it does fit. The poppy pillow middle part is too narrow in this pattern. It turned out ok. However, I will be trying some other ways to put in the zipper before sewing the whole piece to avoid the holes and it sticking out funny. sending my sister a real boppy and this knock off with a note that says NAILED IT! Seriously you should fix these issues.

    How do you finish the zipper ends? There were two holes of the end if you sew the entire length of the zipper tape. Also you can get away with 1 yard total for both sides of the cover. I've made 3 now and this was a great tutorial. Just wish there was !ore of a clarifying step on the zipper. Love this tutorial. Thank you Marzi!

    Just a note about this it says that you only need 2/3 yard of fabric but you also need another 2/3 yard for the other side because 2/3 yard only covers one side , I found out that the hard way it says on the pattern on her website though but we were just going by the beginning of this video.

    This is great! I don't like any of the fabrics on the covers you can buy in the stores. This seems very simple for a beginner like me. Thanks for sharing!

    Wish I had seen this ... yesterday I only purchased 2/3 yard, it wasn't enough. So, I had to find substitutes. Please make these corrections quickly. Thanks!

    Would it be worth your time to make a quick video about how to do this as a slipcover vs zippered? Thank you so much for the great video!

    • @SuzetteG316
      @SuzetteG316 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with a slipcover style is that boppy's should be very, very firm and that makes them difficult to maneuver into a slipcover style covering. The zipper is the way to go.

    I made one, altered it a bit so that the zipper is on the back like a flap. Wasn’t very difficult to add this.
    I wanted to make two but my fabric was not big enough to get two sides out of it with my alterations which kind of sucks but it’s really easy and I appreciate the tutorial. ❤️

    I don’t have a sewing machine so I’m gonna have to try to handle using a different sewing stitch method. I wish I had a new machine. Because I used to have one growing up.

    Sorry for the confusion, 2/3 yard for the front and 2/3 yard for the back. Also, my website is being updated at the moment, but it should be back up next week. Thanks!

    Has anyone figured out how to prevent the two holes at the beginning and end of the zipper?

  • @sarahsweets1265
    @sarahsweets1265 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used this to make a cover for my boppy and the pattern fit really well for me. However I am a beginner at sewing (which is why I'm watching tutorials) and I wish the part about attaching a zipper was a little more detailed. The video doesn't show how to finish the 2 ends of the zipper. So you are left with 2 holes on each end of the zipper. I ended up finishing them off by hand and it works, but it's not clean looking the way it looks in the video. All in all the cover works and fits and for my first time attaching a zipper I'm mostly happy with the results. Thank you for sharing.

    Help, my zipper ends are bulgy and hole-y! And maybe I messed up, but my pieces were too small to zip around a Boppy. I had to sew on an additional 15" strip to one side to make it fit.

    The tutorial says to sew quarter inch seams, but the pattern/template says 1/2 inch seams. Which is the correct seam allowance?

    • @melissarx8
      @melissarx8 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charity Bektesi i have made 2 of these and used half inch seam allowance on both. They turned out great. Hope this helps.

    • @luannapierce2544
      @luannapierce2544 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The directions say" 1/2 inch seam" for the FORM as it gets more wear and tear. The cover says 1/4 inch seam for the COVER.. and to use pinking shears after sewing in the zipper and for me with the cutting out of the fabric as well. OR use a serger, or a stitch along the edge that does the same a serger.... a zig zag stitch works well along the outside of the straight stitch you used to create the pillow cover it is worth the trouble and is important or the fabric may fray... as they say using pinking shears prolongs the life of the cover. I cannot understand how you can use 1/2 inches seam allowance for both and have the cover fit. It needs to be a bit bigger to cover the pillow.

    You don't show how you finish the end of the zipper...yours looks like it's closed up and I can't figure out how you finished the ends, and mine just left a hole at each end of the zipper.

    Good tutorial but the overall size of the pillow is small (it does not fit around waist good, it makes the middle bend).. And I am a M confectional size, just FYI to all the ladies out there you might want to keep this in mind and extend the pattern to fit your size! :)
