When it comes to XG, I’m not just a fan of these 7 talented angels but also the team and CEO behind the group. They got good heart and passion. I still remember how they weren’t so welcomed at Korean music shows right when they debuted. It broke my heart to see these girls done performing and getting almost no cheers or handclaps from the audience and the other groups sitting at the back. Despite the cold treatment, these girls never ceased to put a smile on their faces and cheer and applaud other groups. They are known to be so sweet and humble to their fans too. I’ve never seen a group and its company with such humanity and positive energy. I’m just so proud of them for the amount of new fans they’ve gained organically through their quality music and performances this year! Can’t wait for their next comeback and the world tours to come next year! Thank you for the great reaction as always :)

That Korean-Japanese thing is likely true for Korea - but then again, XG has stated from the start that they aim for the international public; that they get less of a slice from the Korean K-Pop market - I would speculate that Simon had that always baked in in his strategy. And here the point is - nobody in the Anglosphere, in Europe, in South America, expects a Japanese girl group to make this kind of music. I wouldn't have either, it's just that for several years now I follow rap and hip hop artists from outside the Anglosphere already much more than the US industry (which, frankly, doesn't give me much inspiration any more; and there are some really good rappers in places that you wouldn't expect). From what I get, their popularity in SE Asia (like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia) is already quite good. In the western world, they are literally starting at zero. It will still take time, but given the quality of the content they churn out, I am pretty sure they will get the recognition they deserve.
Because of almost no promotion in Japan until the end of November(they have been promoting mainly in South Korea), they had a litte recognition in Japan. But I think the number of fans in Japan is increasing very fast recently since they appeared in THE FIRST TAKE, which was the first time they peformed in the Japanese media. So I hope fans in Japan will be able to contribute to the number of views on TH-cam and Tik Tok. Of course, the 2024 World Tour remains the most optimal and largest promotion.
I'm just commenting for the algo boost to you. But while i'm here, the First Take version is god tier. This was stellar too, but man the way those First Take mics picked up every drop of soul emitted just blows me away every time. Love your reacts Dame. 💜
I think the recognition part as you indicated is a factor though IMO not the biggest. It's because they are starting from the bottom and growing organically. To me the closest thing I can think of in modern times would be BTS before they blew up. For other groups that are recognized, they come from BIG companies. YG, JYP, SM, HYBE (Big Hit/new addition IMO) etc. so they immediately get backing from hmmm, fans of those companies? I think that's the best way I can put it. Regardless, I'm very happy on the journey XG and the team behind them are doing and support them fully. Thanks again and wish you a happy new year!
Can I just say how much I love the way they rearranged the vocals to prove once again that they do this. A lot of lables don't let groups come on live shows for fear of mistakes. XG's TEAM has so much faith in them let them change it up.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍😊💗💐💐💐💐💐💐🔥🔥🔥
The thing about them being underrated is cause their label is still brand new. Unlike those big ones in Korea or Japan. And also the fact that some knetz have this big thing against them being a Japanese group promoting in Korea. A huge xenophobia mindset. Give them time, as long as the Alphaz are growing in big numbers. It’s only time that it’ll show how big they will be in the future
I love the addition of the horn section. The breakdown on Harvey, Jurin and Cocona’s part. It added that extra spice. The vibe is definitely more jazzy
Personally I feel like because Simon drew a line in the sand saying they were Xpop. It might have ruffled some feathers being that they come through a Kpop system and all of their songs are in English. Not sure about the race part of it. I will say that XG have show Kpop to also be a part of them as well though through TH-cam shorts they do, concerts they've gone to cheering on those performers. I hope they jump that hurdle where it doesn't matter. They are just so good. 👁🐺👽🛸
It should be a gift knowing multiple languages but how many times have you seen people say speak American when they hear someone using a foreign tongue?
