In this series of videos I cover everything you need to know about Jazz Scales, including but not limited to:
    - How scales are related to chords (the Chord-Scale System)
    - Why you can use different scales over the same chord
    - Commonly used jazz scales including: melodic minor modes, bebop scales, whole tone scale, diminished scale, pentatonic scale.
See the first lesson here: • Jazz Scales - Melodic ...
This Jazz Piano Tutorial is just a quick addendum to the lesson on modes of the melodic minor scale. Here I cover:
    - the interchangability of melodic minor chord
    - tritone substitutions of melodic minor dominant chords
    - the minor II-V-I
In my previous lesson I covered how to build and use the modes of the melodic minor scale. These being:
    - Real Jazz melodic minor
    - Dorian b2
    - Lydian Augmented
    - Lydian Dominant
    - Fifth mode of the melodic minor scale
    - Half-diminished mode

Man, love your jazz lessons, i am step by step learning on your website and i feel improvement just over the past few weeks. Before that i tried to learn jazz and had been looking for different sources for a whole year but none of that in order so i only know the ii - V - I and nothing else. Hope success and health will come to you.

What a feast of delicious musical concepts. I have watched very many tutorials for a range of instruments and I would say this is as clear and concise a presentation as is
possible with such dense material. Really great job, leaving me much to ponder. Thank You. Alan.

You're most welcome. And yes, trying to summarise, simplify and explain some of these concepts is quite a task, but a rewarding one. Thanks for the nice words, Alan. You're too kind.

Hey, thanks for your lessons! But I wonder that you seemed press the natural 5th when doing the B7alt chord.

Walk That Bass now that i'm looking at it again... the b6 is there, but i'm not completely sure what the 7th is, heh. also it changes during the chorus and outro. maybe i'll look into the piece a bit more at some point.

+fundorinlive haha, yeah some of these jazz concepts can get pretty abstract. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything. And don't worry, the next few lessons I'm planning should hopefully be a bit simpler and less theory heavy.
