the basic fact that both of them write and make original movies is enough to praise them, especially as other filmmakers trapped themself with remakes, reboots and copies of other scripts which differ barely enough to avoid a lawsuit.
One doesnt have to love each QT or TG movie, its a matter of taste after all, but only really dumb fools would manage to hate/disrespect a movie they made.

One thing I'd caution people at as seeing Tarantino as "just" a machine that food-processes the earlier great flicks to make a new great flick. The guy is a legit innovator, IN ADDITION to the constant homage he's also doing. Gilliam couldn't be more positive, and that's not a surprise to me, but it still seems like he's blinded by the fireworks of homage and doesn't also see the novelty.

@@EJ-bq1nu I'm reminded of a review of the movie that came out in the 90's. The critic said Reservoir Dogs was not only "not for everyone". They went a step further saying it was "hardly for anyone". I can't remember the line that came afterwards but they said something like "but for those who do connect with it, there's nothing that compares."
I think that's what Gilliam is getting at here. Like, I'm certainly not saying you're wrong if you think the film is just okay, but I do think that many people miss how, to some audience members, this is an unmatched experience.

Quentin Tarantino is the most overated director in the industry, in my opinion, followed closely by Almodovar. Gilliam, on the other hand, consistently creates masterpieces.
