Told the owner to have the builder move it, as it was still under warranty and should never be approved. "Shoulda" cost him nothing. 15 yrs later,it's still there. Nice pick up. Interesting! I didn’t realize you could just replace the whole packing nut/washer assembly like that! Gonna do that very thing on an outside faucet right now, thanks!
My first fsucet repair, many, many years ago, was done this way. Was still petrified of a torch at that time. I was so upset at the time, it pushed me to get to where i could gss weld, which is still my preference over stick or mig, to this day. Best wishes, and thank you!!!

you replaced the entire stem , not just the packing and packing nut …this works for that style of bib (arrow) but people need to understand that those stems aren’t interchangeable with a lot of import chinese hose bibs …

Just replace the bottom (black) seal. No need to buy the whole top end. Old school. Local hardware usually have them.
