@Vedanta Society of New York, swamiji, I have a simple question, may be please answer it in the next QnA. From where "Love or Bhakti" arises, speaking of the source in a being? Since we experience it, it should be on top of Consciousness. But its not Consciousness, so is it a mental construct? And if so, then is it real? Or even that is unreal? And if so, does all the methods of attaining and knowing that flash/nirvana, are actually unreal and is just like an imagination? How is unreal things make us realise a true brahman?

It is indeed awe-inspiring to watch Swami Sarvapriyanandaji effortlessly reel out cogent impromptu answers to some of the challenging questions posed to him. While I appreciate the insight presented around 15:00 through Sri Ramakrishna’s parable of the three friends I wonder whether there is a deeper meaning conveyed by that parable as well. On the surface, it appears to us that the third friend who did not jump to the “beyond side” of the wall but returned to the “here side” to lead others to the “beyond side” is more compassionate than the two “jumpers”. However, it seems to me that it is quite possible that the “jumpers” were as compassionate as the “returner” if not more so. For instance, the “jumpers” might have recognized that they were lousy communicators who would have totally messed up articulating what was “beyond” to folks on the “here side”. The “jumpers” perhaps knew that “here side” folks listening to their incomprehensible, incoherent, and insufferable narrations may start dreading the “beyond” and not not only run away from the wall but also start erecting barriers to prevent other people from reaching the now dreaded wall. Perhaps, the “jumpers” recognized that returning to the “here side” and staying silent was not a good option for them either since their silence may be interpreted as disapproval of the “beyond” by “here side” folks. Therefore, what the “jumpers” did could be viewed as a selfless act which was an expression of extreme compassion for “here side” folks.
Thank you! Perhaps this is further acknowledgement that there are different paths for different people (devotion, service, etc)? What you have highlighted is important because it calls us each to wise discernment as to whether we would be a help or hindrance to others. There certainly is a risk, hearing that the one who didn't jump so he could tell others "is the most God-like" to resolve to do that. It's good that you pointed out that may not be right for everyone.
Take the example of Sri Ramana Maharishi: HE did not jump but he didn’t speak much either. HIS very presence was enough for people suffering in this world to transcend it. The ultimate teaching is Silence. 🙏 As Swamiji mentioned on an earlier occasion, the Bodhisatva is the one who takes another birth in order to come back to this world and help those that are unenlightened 🙏
I go through your videos repeatedly....each time I become fresh! You are a very good, intelligent , dedicated teacher!!. As your name implies, YOU are Sarvapriya. !!!! really great!! God bless you!! ..
From 11 th mnt onward till next few mnts it was powerful . Also the story of the monk who use to roll on the sand finding it all an utter bliss of this wobder called life with good bag sorrow laughter joy unhappiness - seeing it all as one consciousness. There was something deeper in the way swamiji said it .loved it .
Swami once told a story of a young monk of the order who was diagnosed with a malignant tumor that would cause his death at a very young age. The physician attending the monk was inconsolable to see such a young person dying, but the monk reassured him that his life was well completed, for he had had time to have known the path of Thakur. Swami said that the doctor was very touched by that deep faith that overcame the fear of death and attachment to life. I never found the video in which this passage is found again. Do any of the friends know how to find this video? I translate Swami's videos into Portuguese and would love to bring this beautiful video to the spiritual aspirants in Brazil.
@The Buddhist Baptist I don't know if you understood what I wrote. I was describing a speech from one of Swami's old videos, which recorded a doctor meeting a young monk who was very sick. My description was intended to receive help from a friend who has seen the video to find that video again. That's it.
@Greg LeJacques Okay, thanks for your explanation...but I was just describing part of a talk, from one of Swami's old videos. I wanted to find that video, you know? But anyway, thank you for your attention.
@The Buddhist Baptist Thank you dear! In this case, in the video I was referring to, Swami dealt with the impression that a realized person could leave on another. He then said, that the physician knew the fearlessness of death from that monk who said: "My life was wonderful, I knew the service of Thakur, the Mother, and now for this I am leaving this world". That doctor, who mourned the young man's death, knew a different kind of perception than his materialistic sense. Certainly whoever has this perception (of fearlessness in the face of death) has achieved a kind of realization. Those, however, who have not achieved this yet, can have faith in our spiritual nature and look forward to achieving such a realization. Thank you very much!
@Greg LeJacques In the case reported in the video, the important thing was the doctor's impression, who noticed in the dying monk a complete peace, resulting from his perception. The heart of the issue that interested me was precisely this impact on the doctor's life, who can perceive the impact of spirituality on another person's life.
@Greg LeJacques I'm describing what interested me in the video, you know? I'm not here discussing what everyone considers "reality" to be. Understand: I'm just asking if anyone has seen this video I mention.
Swami is a blessing. In this world of confusion even in religion and daily practice he has come like a shining lighthouse in a dark night at sea to guide the ships to shore

Met him(and aatmapriyananda ji, who is our Pro Chancellor)about a month ago, at our University, (RKMVERI, Belur Math), didn't get much time to talk, just for like 2 minutes. I may disagree with a few of the conclusions, with him, as he leans more towards Advaita and me towards Vijana, but whatever his path is his voice shows his deep conviction. You can feel your spirit getting uplifted just in his presence.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@Nilayan Majumdar You can refer to the works of ayon maharaj for a rigorous dialectic description of this philosophy. In brief, like any other school of thought, Advaita tried to be at the top. To do so, they considered Sat-Chit-Ananda as the transcendental reality. They do not consider "spontaneous-causeless-will" as an aspect of the transcendental reality by mixing will and its creation/projection( which is causality). This leads to a hierarchy in the highest realisation of each path. But Vijana considered the transcendental reality to be Sat-Chit-Ananda-Icha. So, no path is superior to another, and the final realization of each path is equally and independently liberating. So, in conclusion, there are "infinite paths to infinite realities"(which is also the name of the book by ayon maharaj. Hence, the dictum, "So many opinions so many ways." Just elaborating a bit further, one can unerderstand it very easily and much more sensibly by using the same pointers that we use to point out that the transcendental reality is Sat-Chit-Ananda in Advaita. E.g. The very fact that in Advaita, Maya is just an appearance in Bramhan implies "will" to be a transcendental aspect. This is because a will-less brahman has, 1. no requirement(because it's perfect) 2. no aspect(among sat-chit-ananda) that implies a spontaneous creation(or projection) of Maya from it. But if "will" is also considered as a transcendental aspect then although there is still no requirement, since it's always perfect, but now there is an aspect(swarupa) that implies a spontaneous creation/projection/etc of maya/causality/etc. This very will creates and acts through its creation. This idea that transcendental is Sat-Chit-Ananda-Icha/Existence-Conciousness-Infinite-will can be considered as a description of vijana. Such an idea can be understood quite readily both from the scriptures and from the words of Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishna. E.g. The fact that Thakur considers all paths to be on equal footing, by saying "Ishwar Shakar-Nirakar aro koto ki", he further expands on it by considering an infinite ocean where some places its eternaly quartz and other places its an ice sculpture which melts as the sun of jnana rise and it's eternally calm water. This is possible only when that infinity ocean has intrinsic "will" and can hence remain eternally in infinitely many ways and also as formless(where ever will is in action), and each such ways(also formless) is infinity in itself. As the verse goes, ॐ पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदं पूर्णात्पुर्णमुदच्यते पूर्णश्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते ॥
1:10:45 - So if consciousness cannot be programmed, what would happen with a line of code which effectively teaches AI the concept of "I AM"? If the AI is not already self-aware, then is only a matter of time until it spontaneously evolves the ability to figure it out on its own, without further human input.
There's also the tantric embodiment path whereby you can have an initial 'a-ha' realization and then this initial knowing of our true nature is gradually integrated within the core of the body or the 'ground of Being' - (an awakening down and in) as well as 'up and out', the embodiment integration is a really important part on the path especially where there's childhood traumas and layers of conditioning held within the energetic body.
I love Swamiji and am listening to this a 2nd time already. On Kashmir Shaivism though I am not sure he is totally correct and hope he can expound further. The 3 upayas outside of Anopaya go like this per my understanding: Shambho - Iccha Shakti, Will. Awareness is strong and does not need supports. One can just will oneself into the Absolute anytime. Shakti: Gyan Shakti, Knowledge. Self enquiry (self knowledge as a practice) belongs here (not in Shambhopaya as Swamiji says). And other knowledge based practices. Anavopaya: Kriya Shakti, Action. All the paraphernalia of Practices that require individual action, work. Would be helpful if Swamiji revisits and clarifies his position on self enquiry and what Shambhopaya is really about. 🙏
Hari Om,Pranam, Swamiji. Assail.. though Iam not able to ask ?as being weak in technology;many of my ?are here asked by others&nicely answered by U in simple&practical way. Thanks U a lot.
By studying the 'prasthanatrayam' from a guru who is a brahmanishta, we recognize (prathyabhijna) the eternal atman part and the temporary anaatma part which is being hoisted upon my atma due to the ignorance . Simply put the body ,mind , and intellect the anatma and the consciousness , awareness , the atma. From the atma's perspective there is only atma as it is the only one reality. That way everything apart from me is anatma, mithya, unreal. From anatma's perspective the world is real. Just like from the dreamer's perspective the dream is real , but when he wakes up , as a waker , his perspective is dream is unreal.

What is Vijana?
@@nilayanmajumdar9174 Tantric Hinduism
Hence, the dictum, "So many opinions so many ways."
Just elaborating a bit further, one can unerderstand it very easily and much more sensibly by using the same pointers that we use to point out that the transcendental reality is Sat-Chit-Ananda in Advaita.
As the verse goes,
ॐ
पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदं पूर्णात्पुर्णमुदच्यते
पूर्णश्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते ॥
Music to my ears. 🎼🎶🎸
What a wonderful philosophy! No wonder people like Arthur Schopenhauer and Ralph Waldo Emerson was so impressed.
Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏
1:10:45 - So if consciousness cannot be programmed, what would happen with a line of code which effectively teaches AI the concept of "I AM"? If the AI is not already self-aware, then is only a matter of time until it spontaneously evolves the ability to figure it out on its own, without further human input.
again it is still depended on the data you feed.
But the consciousness as per Advaita is
"The Field of Be-ing"
I am is not a concept it may be in initial stage but not in practicality
All in 1... 1 in All
There's also the tantric embodiment path whereby you can have an initial 'a-ha' realization and then this initial knowing of our true nature is gradually integrated within the core of the body or the 'ground of Being' - (an awakening down and in) as well as 'up and out', the embodiment integration is a really important part on the path especially where there's childhood traumas and layers of conditioning held within the energetic body.

Waited for so long...thank you swamiji...
Thank you swamiji
Jail Guru Swamiji 🙏🌹🌈
I love Swamiji and am listening to this a 2nd time already.
On Kashmir Shaivism though I am not sure he is totally correct and hope he can expound further. The 3 upayas outside of Anopaya go like this per my understanding:
Shambho - Iccha Shakti, Will.
Love you
You are looking like a baby Hanuman
I love the talks thank you

Infinite experiences of the nondual reality
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

3 types of enlightened beings : those that enjoy the show, those that Engage in the show and those that have sympathy for people who are distressed by the show
An enlightenment that lacks compassion and love is an immature enlightenment.

Surprised when people say he is intelligent! No he is God realised and such Superman know every!
when the ART alone shines while ARTist is absent is the key,. Artist has to loose the self identification (body-mind) and become one with ART.
Saankhya says that the World or Prakruti is also Real and Infinite.
So,I have many desires,alas..I don't know that exactly..as I 'm also disturbed by 'जगत मिथ्या'
