@@arcticfluffyfoxy Huh it never did that to me before. Well you can easily find it by looking it up here on youtube. It's called "If Dr. Eggman decides to stay as Mr. Tinker".

Poor Mr Tinker, he was the victim of the worst enemy of comic characters: The Status Quo. But if IDW will try to go has hard as Archie went, we might find some shenanigans like Robotnik and Tinker being separated into 2 beings, kinda like Majin-Buu from DBZ.
or, what if there is a scene where eggman is about to do something unforgivable, and in his mind he has a fight with mr tinker? thatd be a cool concept, showing eggman if he had an "angel" on his shoulder?
I think my idea of splitting timelines might mean there might be a Mr. Tinker somewhere in the timelines. It also means Cannon Events are also here as well. Which leads to the idea if there's a rip in the timelines -- Ohhh boy~
Either that or, due to the comics referencing the games, Eggman slowly has the Mr. Tinker side of him show up more and more if Sage gets adapted into the comics, with some future run-ins with Belle, constantly reminding him that at no point did anything ever force him to be evil. It was shown that he misses his time as Mr. Tinker but simply thinks that he's too beyond redemption to ever go back that life but that isn't really true since his choice to remain a villain solidifies that it's always a choice. Perhaps something SO evil shows up that has Eggman finally realize this and finally choose to be good out of a desire to be so rather than simple circumstance. Slowly, of course, since he's a stubborn dude who needs a ton of convincing.
I really like one detail that’s in both Eggman and Tinker is his ability to think ahead, Eggman often plans to make doomsday devices and bases far in advance but… What Tinker did when he felt himself reverting back into his old personality he used the little time he had to write a heartfelt goodbye letter to his daughter Belle which I thought was really sweet, it’s the same trait but just different intentions and I love that.
I personally love how the comics further address this. In the metal virus, sonic confronts eggman asking him why not go back to being mr.tinker. The facial expression eggman gives is heartbreaking, because you see him remember making his inventions for people to be useful instead of destruction. He also has that grim expression that its too late to go back to that, which had me so invested in the story.
Yes! I did two videos covering that and that was one of my favourite moments. I love that they acknowledge Mr. Tinker and that Eggman even has a moment of reflection
I do really hope to see some continuation of that guilt. Eggman still wants to "change the world", but how does he really want to do that? It would be the first time, as the smartest person in the world, couldn't answer a question. He NEEDS to have a response, either through his own ego or a genuine need to find a greater means of impact. I hope they use Belle's continuing dynamic with Eggman as a means of answering that question, but it could also be a means of introducing Sage into the IDW verse, as "Eggman's proper answer" to the question, and both Sage and Belle get to explore what it means of being the progeny of the same person's multi-faceted answer to how they wanted to change the world and leave a legacy.
“What kind of monster would program you with emotions only to prey on them?!” I love that line, really separates the evil doctor from the good hearted Mr.Tinker.
If i remember correctly, Eggman even says at one point that he misses being Mr Tinker, how people liked him, how his inventions helped people, how people wanted to be around him, but believes he can never go back to that life, despite liking it better.
The original Eggman VS Sonic was kind of an environmentalism message. That's why Sonic saving animals from being/powering robots is such a big part of the games. Eggman represents all the cleverness and ingenuity of mankind, but also its hubris and greed. For all his faults, Eggman remains a human being. Even at his worst, he's not wholly evil. He can't be. No human is. He's not a demon. There *is* good in him, it's just eclipsed by his arrogance and selfishness. His eventual fatalistic attitude towards being a villain (while also regretting it) is also a very human thing. Eggman believes he is beyond forgiveness. That his crimes are so terrible that he can never turn back from the path he is on. In his mind, he doesn't *deserve* to be Mr. Tinker. Trapped between his guilt and his pride, he marches onward towards a tragic destiny he cannot escape.
My reaction to meeting Mr. Tinker: Eggman with amnesia as a good guy? Pfffffft. Okay, sure. My reaction to Mr. Tinker's "death": Nooooooo! Don't get your memories back, please! Someone save this man before it's too late! Please!
Mr Tinker reminds me of Dr Kintobor, the Archie Comic's form of Eggman before he turned evil/crazy. If it where set in that universe I would suspect that Eggman's original personality had returned.
This makes me think that before Robotnik ever became evil and power hungry, he actually was an innocent carpenter (Maybe Mr. Tinker was his company or work name). But for whatever reason, he became who he is today. Him getting beaten and possibly concussed likely gave him amnesia, and he only had the memories prior to becoming evil.
Looking back with Sonic the Hedgehog I kinda now see Eggaman as a dark reflection to Sonic as Sonic has friends Eggman has Orbot and Cubot as his only two real friends Well Sonic moved past his childhood and became the hero needed and got the love he wanted well Eggman never moved past what happen to Maria and his Grandfather and became the villain and never got the love from his grandfather also Mr Tinker is what Eggman might've been had he never been too misguided
It is better that he was there for a short time then if he was never there at all, and in that short time, he made belle and she may not be able to bring her father back, but she can sure live up to who he tried to be in his brief time as Mr. Tinker
2:44 honestly this moment gives me a shiver up my spine. What if Mr. Tinker is less of just the product of eggman's amnesia, but rather a glimpse at who he was (in this timeline at least) before all the destruction? Perhaps eggman land *was* just an amusement park at one point, something simple. Like this is his inner self, that even with something as benign as an amusement park, we can see it in that shadowy silhouette, that it all starts small. Like they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions
Great video. Short and to the point, good research, editing and music, and clear voice work. 5/5 Mr. Tinker is a very interesting take on the "good Eggman". I wonder how he would act if swapped into the position of other good Eggman like Dr. Kintobor from Fleetway or Dr. Kintobor from Archie. Unlike those two, who still seem to have Eggman's drive to "change the world", Mr. Tinker seemed to just be helpful on the small scale. Perhaps this would change if he had greater access to resources however.
Good to see you cover this continuity! The Archie content is an awesome and detailed learning experience, and this is an entertaining re-look at stuff I know well. Keep on the fantastic comic content!

Kinda weird that all it took to make Dr. Robotnik evil again was to touch Metal Sonic. But then again touching the best Sonic rival would make you want to defeat that darn hedgehog.
I have a random question about IDW's Sonic the Comic. Where is Mighty the Armadillo? I've only read the IDW comics and way way WAY back on the day the UK Sonic the Comic of the 90s. Mighty used to be the leader of the Chaotix Crew in the UK comics but IDW only has Victor, Charmy and Espio. I understand Mighty isn't really a member of the Chaotix but even as a separate thing, where is he?
so completely off my head I think Mighty has only shown up in a minor role in a side story with Amy. He for sure has a much smaller role in the IDW comics than his presence in some other media.
IDW may not use Mighty on account of him being a "classic era" character. Sega, for some reason, doesn't want to use classic characters in modern storylines, which is weird.
Mighty is a complicated story. He was from a totally different game attached to a popcorn machine (yes, really) before being added in as one of the playable characters in Knuckles' Chaotix. Fleetway adapted the Chaotix into their Sonic comic, and they included Mighty. When Sonic Heroes brought the Chaotix back, it chose to focus on the three original characters from that game (with Heavy and Bomb being exclusded because lol. lmao.) due to the game's focus on three hero teams. Mighty was left to rot after that until Sonic Mania Plus, where he was brought back for the game's Encore Mode.
