Hey what’s the part number for your single wire temp sensor? I’m wondering if you tapped a hole and made your own spot for the sensor or used the original spot in the block (which is what I want to do)
I don’t know the part number it was just a generic one. But I used the oem sensor hole on the block under the intake manifold. I had to uses a pipe thread adapter and Teflon tape to seal it
ok im having the same issues as you have had. but im trying to install this amazon 1 wire temp sensor on an oil cooler for a motorcycle. the sensor is about 1/2 inch too long and so i cant thread it in so im looking for an adapter to extend the adapter i already have. butr the big problem is i hook my sensor up to my instrument cluster ( has fuel, speed, odometer gear etc) and to ground and my the temp part of my gauge that comes on when powering up the unit then goes off, it doesnt even come on. i tried disconnecting the battery for a while to see if it woul reset and still nothing. is there a way to test the sensor with a multimeter?
The way I tested mine with a multimeter is with the resistance setting. Your sensor should have an Ohm reading for certain temperatures. It’s either the warmer the lower resistance and colder higher resistance, or vice versa I can’t recall. Either way if you set your multimeter to read Ohms then ground it out and put the red to the sensor you should get a reading greater than 1 at least. Mine was reading 700ish at 64*F. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Hai hai I I have an e12 bmw the my guage doesn't respond if I put direct positive it goes all the way till the red line .....does that mean the guage us dead or ok???
I don’t know for sure, if it’s moving then I think it would be working. If you have it hooked straight to 12volts with no sensor then it might just go all the way to red. The sensor works as a resistor I think.
Perfect video well articulated

Ohh wow makes sense now
If there is no overheat alarm it's useless
