Those who begrudge you spending your money on what you want are ridiculous, no one here is wondering how much you make from farming/other enterprises you have. Enjoy the car and keep the great videos going 👌😎😎😎
I’ve taken so many of those DB cabs off..... it’s usually the earth strap that gets left connected. Be careful with the gearbox. The synchro used to go on them. It’s a tricky job to reassemble the box properly. Need to split the tractor and pull the box out of the front
800 days! Great achievement Olly, I am thankful that you and the others on this platform are doing a lot of good against the anti farming lobby. Also your range of subject matter is wide ranging and always educational and interesting. It’s a shame that your latest purchase has caused a bit of a backlash but that’s a reflection of an element of any society. Keep up the good work
Hi Olly, yes fix the gearbox while it is stripped down, Potato for the car reg. Yes road noise is horrid, depends on wind direction somewhat, the A30 went through part of the farm in 2000. Silage down today and lets hope we can get it done without too much rain. Thanks Olly and take care.
Your yaris should DEFINITELY become a potato, seems so ironic that it is high powered etc yet a potato 🥔 🥔 Go for the overhaul, could save work in the future and makes it mint once it has been fully restored. Great vid as always 100% went to the livestock market today and fruit farm tour tomorrow
I love the yaris the wide body on the back looks really trick,I'd say it handles like it's on rails with the 4 wheel drive best of luck wit it,looks amazing 👍
Barclay Williams for parts for the 1690. You can lift the top off the gearbox really easily. Ring of bolts around the top cover and 4 long ones in from the back under the cross shaft above the pto housing
What is it with negative people? Great work Olly. I'm not a farmer, but I subscribe to your channel and think what you're doing is really educational. I'm certainly learning a lot about where our food comes from at what it takes to reach our tables. Glad you're having fun with filming your work. Keep doing it while you enjoy it. Matt. Cheadle, South Manchester.
I wandered in here from Tom's channel and have watched all from day 400 and up now, still working on the older episodes. Been a 92% day today. Thank you for the all work you put in to make the videos.
You've gotta fix the gearbox Olly. I would think there's parts for it somewhere, probably from a tractor wreckers or maybe someone manufacturers parts for it sting a you can get parts for the engine.
Congratulations on the new purchase Olly, i like the car and your thinking behind it. I just hope thw next classic tractor is a Fendt. Just make it a original and clean one example.
Olly you have to get into the gearbox to find where the bits of gear have went, replace the gear while you are in it. The bits of metal don’t disappear finding them will prevent further damage.
Totally has to be potato, the irony may get lost on some people but car nerds will know. Sod everyone who's being negative about it, even if you don't make money on it you'll enjoy it and frankly it's not really their business if you have £2 or £2m in the bank
DB gearbox , i dont know if Frank Rowlands have much left in the yard these days, David Cowking at slaidburn, Stan Briggs at Winmarliegh and Guy Hall at Cockerham used to break a lot of DBs i do know there is some stuff still in a building down there, all worth a phone call i would say,
As has been said Barclay Williams is the place for 1690 parts. Also see if you can find a 'I&T workshop manual C36' somewhere on the web, there not expensive, very comprehensive, and cover the 1690. I have used mine alot over the years when we had a couple of 1594s
Would like to go to cereals to see what I can learn, plus hoping there'll be drill manufacturers there who i can talk to as I'm planning to build my own seed drill! Not been before so hope I can get the time off work
Ignore the farmer haters, you spend your money as you like. You have to carry on with the DB, you're spending money on the engine, you will never be happy with the gearbox as it is and there's a fair chance the damaged 1st gear will break up and do further damage. Leave the numberplate as it is, if you put the OLY plate on, some idiot will know its yours and who knows what might happen.
Definitely potato, a customer of ours has a black yaris great car, group B lancia original are going for over a million now! Wish I'd kept my mk 2 golf gti. Must be some one in Huddersfield that knows about DB gear box!
Well done on hitting 800 video's Ollie, please do the gearbox, I have dropped a bolt into the g/box on my dexta, it's going nowhere until I've found it!! 90% today= funeral.
Keep up the good work, your videos are great and like your life so diverse with the farming. Some people are just jealous that they do not have creative minds. Spend your money how you like as long as the family does not suffer It is your work and ingenuity making it
Another great video mate defo think as you have gone this far you should rebuild the box am actually for the 1st in a very long time feeling 100% today
David Brown acquired Aston Martin in 1947 for £20,000, and was influential in the companies success that is why all Astons carry the mark DB,, fun fact of the day 👍👍
It would be so good to get the David Brown back in tip top condition, i think only in my humble opinion seeing as you have gone this far on breaking the tractor down, is to go a little further and get first gear sorted =)
I’m thinking BL09OLY for the reg No. and I think you should definitely repair the gearbox it will be so worth it in the end (you may need 1st gear when you hitch it on to the plough 😃). 800 videos well done Olly 👍. 75%
If the first gear is damaged, I would want to know the state of the rest of the gears - Harry Metcalfe's Countach is testement to that (and being rebuilt just down the road from you). The MB Trac in the outrow is stunning - you definately need to get yours back to that condition
What's it got to do with anyone how you spend your money mate, take no notice of the people who aren't capable of thinking outside of the box to make a comfortable life. I'd put the potato reg on the car. Know what you mean about the traffic noise, used to plough fields either side of m62 at tarbock island and had to put radio on full blast to hear it 😄😄 Cheers Olly 👍
Now you are this deep in to the David brown you have to go all the way and repair the gearbox olly. I will be going to cereals so would be good to catch up maybe on the Bateman stand.
The GR Yaris is a superb little car! You are a lucky man! As a Colin McRae fan have you got you name down to have a P25 Impreza (resto-mod) from Prodrive?
Great video again the gearbox you would be a fool not to do it because it’s not going to get better and if you don’t 9/10 it will go when you rebuild it then it’s going to have to be done your half way there already definitely worth doing now and how you spend you own money is up to you so enjoy it while you can you work hard enough enjoy life 👍👍👏👏
I think you should change the gear and have a good look at the rest of them whilst you have it all apart, the bits that have broken off could easily have caused damage to other parts of the box.
Get hold of Paul Young at Haydock. He'll sort it in a flash, you could run it over to him on the low loader. The box will lift out of the casting but it's setting it up again that'll cause problems for you.
Send the transmission off to John dorman he dose full transmission rebuilds for the 90 and 94 series very affordable and he can speed them up to do around 25 mph he's on most of the david brown pages
Hi Oly, got a surprise when i seen my dads MB as the outro , was at a show at the weekend so someone obviously took a pic 😂 it didn’t look that good a year ago. Great vids watch every day
If only we had more time , got projects coming out our ear holes , can’t wait till you get it in the workshop tho . For my two pence worth I would fix gearbox on DB right when your in that far so you don’t regret when’s she’s all back together
Ollie i think your new car is ace sod what everyone else thinks youv'e got a business that can easily stand buying a new car love the colour good luck with the David Brown now youv'e down to this level you might as well go the whole hog another great video Ollie feeling 99% today Ollie put BL090LY as the new reg it looks cool Eddie
Sometimes ignorance is bliss. You, like me had to have a look in the gearbox couldn’t help yourself 🤣🤣. Whilst it was only jumping out of gear, it was no big deal but now you know it’s a chewed up gear you are going to have to fix it 🤣. So many times I have not been able to resist the urge to “just have a quick look inside” and so often wished I hadn’t. As you get older it doesn’t get any better either.
Contact the David Brown owners club if you don’t know a specialist in your area to advise you with the gearbox repair.I am not sure about your one but the older Browns could have the gearbox removed through removing the top off the box rather than splitting it
Definitely sort out 1st gear while it's in the shop, keep the Yaris on original plates as it looks more of a rally car, you don't see works cars on private plates.
Better leave settings alone! I'm sure you've seen the pictures of new owners with there cars in shite within a matter of day's, now that would be more of a loss than a dry year.
I think PO70ATO would look great. As for the haters, they'll always be there but you and us positive ones are strong enough to win. Keep up the good work 👍
Not British? Well that must go for about 90% of the cars on our roads today!! But MST in North Wales will build you a brand new Mk1 or 2 Escort road going rally car - cost a bit more than the Yaris though! I'd leave the KR22 plate on for at least a year - cos it's got my initials on and it would show everyone I had a brand new Yaris GR!! Just enjoy it - but do get a seat cover. And a spare set of floor mats! 😁 75% again today.
As you’ve gone so far in now repair gears and fit a new clutch. I see Tom wasn’t happy today with him new to him (as he commented more than once) shear grab.
People who quote ‘there’s no money in farming’ conveniently forget you work 360+ days a year, often days consisting of 12+ hours, and make literally nothing compared to the input. Anyone who gives farmers grief for having a bit of money and choosing to tell us how they spend that money can jog on. I love the GR Yaris and would buy one in a heartbeat if I could! (Or probably an M2 🤣)
Glyphosate message - fully support as I have used when farming decades ago. Having watched farming youtube from all round the world this is essential for the low till, low carbon footprint farming of the future.
Those who begrudge you spending your money on what you want are ridiculous, no one here is wondering how much you make from farming/other enterprises you have. Enjoy the car and keep the great videos going 👌😎😎😎
Olly works to make money and spends money on himself or his family
I’ve taken so many of those DB cabs off..... it’s usually the earth strap that gets left connected. Be careful with the gearbox. The synchro used to go on them. It’s a tricky job to reassemble the box properly. Need to split the tractor and pull the box out of the front
I might be able to find a factory repair manual in my shed
Keep er lit... great wee car! Enjoy every mile! Great to see 1690 being brough back to fomrer glory too!
800 days! Great achievement Olly, I am thankful that you and the others on this platform are doing a lot of good against the anti farming lobby. Definitely need to sort first gear while it’s in bit, you’ll only regret it!! Bl09 OLY for the racer 👌🏼
Your yaris should DEFINITELY become a potato, seems so ironic that it is high powered etc yet a potato 🥔 🥔
Go for the overhaul, could save work in the future and makes it mint once it has been fully restored. Great vid as always 100% went to the livestock market today and fruit farm tour tomorrow
Olly, when you went to the hen house I half expected to see Chester in there digging a hole 🤣🤣
I love the yaris the wide body on the back looks really trick,I'd say it handles like it's on rails with the 4 wheel drive best of luck wit it,looks amazing 👍
It does like a Peugeot
Repair the gearbox DB boxes are fairly simple to work on as you can take the complete gearbox out to fix it .Parts are available if you look
Congratulations on reaching day 800 Olly 🥳🥳🥳
I think Po70ato would look best on the yaris.
Feeling 85% today.
Barclay Williams for parts for the 1690. You can lift the top off the gearbox really easily. Ring of bolts around the top cover and 4 long ones in from the back under the cross shaft above the pto housing

Thank you for watching 🤣
Great video olly, good to see the dB started, yes mend the gear get it back to full working order. 98%.
There is a British company making a car similar to the GR Yaris. The Mini Cooper John cooper works
Respect to you for knocking out a video every day 🙌 .
Hi Olly get the injectors serviced and pump checked, if there not spraying correctly it wont start very well.
You've gotta fix the gearbox Olly.
I would think there's parts for it somewhere, probably from a tractor wreckers or maybe someone manufacturers parts for it sting a you can get parts for the engine.
Barclay Williams at Evesham may be able to help with the transmission on the 1690
Brilliant video olly 😃 I think the blog Olly number plate is better
Congratulations on the new purchase Olly, i like the car and your thinking behind it. I just hope thw next classic tractor is a Fendt. Just make it a original and clean one example.
Olly nice one as long as your bills are payed that's the main thing
Hi olly going over to cereals on Wednesday from Ireland looking foward to it ,keep up the videos never miss one yet
Thank you for 800 days great entertainment Olly.

Going to cereals on Thursday. Looks like a big job on gearbox,I’m sure you can do it .👍🏻👍🏻
Well done on hitting 800 video's Ollie, please do the gearbox, I have dropped a bolt into the g/box on my dexta, it's going nowhere until I've found it!! 90% today= funeral.

👍🏻
David Brown acquired Aston Martin in 1947 for £20,000, and was influential in the companies success that is why all Astons carry the mark DB,, fun fact of the day 👍👍
If you are doing a job do it right so I would do the first gear on the david Brown. Tidy work mate 👌
Definitely fix the gearbox. That tractor is in very good condition. You just see how clean it is with the cab off 👍
Great blog again Oly keep them coming
Definitely fix the 1690 and paint it it'll look absolutely brilliant olly
It would be so good to get the David Brown back in tip top condition, i think only in my humble opinion seeing as you have gone this far on breaking the tractor down, is to go a little further and get first gear sorted =)
I got two of your pigeon's in my shed!!😃
Sod what anyone else thinks you put enough effort into your businesses. Great car and looks stunning in Red
Try Frank Rowlands over at Clitheroe for second hand DB complete gearbox.
Nice Video The gear box needs fixing potato the more impressive plate thanks again
James Firth at Ewden valley tractors is your David Brown expert.
Great video olly you should fix it you’ll regret it if you don’t second number plate for car
David brown tractor forum has some info on the 1690 gearbox removal incase you go that way with it
Try Barcley Williams near Evesham for any DB parts.
I’m thinking BL09OLY for the reg No. and I think you should definitely repair the gearbox it will be so worth it in the end (you may need 1st gear when you hitch it on to the plough 😃).
800 videos well done Olly 👍. 75%
Hi Olly, Put BL09OLY on your new car, Case if you can rebuild good as new so fix the gear box .
If the first gear is damaged, I would want to know the state of the rest of the gears - Harry Metcalfe's Countach is testement to that (and being rebuilt just down the road from you).
The MB Trac in the outrow is stunning - you definately need to get yours back to that condition
Where is he getting it fixed ?
What's it got to do with anyone how you spend your money mate, take no notice of the people who aren't capable of thinking outside of the box to make a comfortable life.
I'd put the potato reg on the car.
Know what you mean about the traffic noise, used to plough fields either side of m62 at tarbock island and had to put radio on full blast to hear it 😄😄
Cheers Olly 👍
Buy what makes you happy………we’re here for a good time, not a long time!!!!
Exactly
You get cogs in clocks and gears in gearboxes!! and P070ATO number plate Adam in dorset
Taking the tractor apart isn't a big job - it's putting it back together again ( without any left over parts)
Yer 😀
In 5 months time...
Now you are this deep in to the David brown you have to go all the way and repair the gearbox olly. I will be going to cereals so would be good to catch up maybe on the Bateman stand.
Yer 👍🏻
The GR Yaris is a superb little car! You are a lucky man! As a Colin McRae fan have you got you name down to have a P25 Impreza (resto-mod) from Prodrive?
Would love one but kind of need my combine
Great video again the gearbox you would be a fool not to do it because it’s not going to get better and if you don’t 9/10 it will go when you rebuild it then it’s going to have to be done your half way there already definitely worth doing now and how you spend you own money is up to you so enjoy it while you can you work hard enough enjoy life 👍👍👏👏

Case IH 9280 on ebay at the min.
Got your name all over it. Would fit in well in the collection.
Yer looks a monster
Absolutely, would tower over the others.
Lets see the yaris going for it !!
Personally I would have to repair 1 gear as I would want it all working correctly Olly 👍
My mate has a yaris gr,quite cool but unfortunately im 6ft4 & dont fit in as roof is pretty low
Send the transmission off to John dorman he dose full transmission rebuilds for the 90 and 94 series very affordable and he can speed them up to do around 25 mph he's on most of the david brown pages
In for a penny in for a pound, get the gears sorted. No half measures. ✅ 60% 🤷♂️
Another great vid Olly 👍
You can get your gear box part's from barley Williams Olly
Traffic noise is loud at home!!🤷♂️
Now, if you could just make that Yaris sound like a 1455 you would be sorted! 88% today
Yer
Blo9 mate good on ya enjoy it you work hard enough and might as well fix the brown I'm about 85% today enjoyed your video olly👍
Hi Oly, got a surprise when i seen my dads MB as the outro , was at a show at the weekend so someone obviously took a pic 😂 it didn’t look that good a year ago. Great vids watch every day

Potato because the Yaris is kinda small
Sometimes ignorance is bliss. You, like me had to have a look in the gearbox couldn’t help yourself 🤣🤣. The tractor has to be split to get the box out...... I’ve repaired a few...... I might be able to find a genuine factory manual in my shed
Definitely sort out 1st gear while it's in the shop, keep the Yaris on original plates as it looks more of a rally car, you don't see works cars on private plates.
The works Focuses, Scoobies and Lancers ran private plates - 'works' (M Sport) Fiestas still do 😊
If you hold the traction control for 3 seconds + it turns off the traction control AND the stability control in expert mode 👌
Yay
Better leave settings alone! I'm sure you've seen the pictures of new owners with there cars in shite within a matter of day's, now that would be more of a loss than a dry year.
Ring barclay Williams about gearbox bits, you may as well fix it properly whilst you got the cab off
I would go with the second plate. Someone in my village has 'VEGGIE' as there's, really annoys me!!
Great car olly, looks a beast, congrats
We were told at college that it's not cogs but gears.
Time for a call to Barcley Williams
Yeahhh potato needs to go on
the BL reg olly
Yaris needs a wing they look so much better with one
I think PO70ATO would look great.
As for the haters, they'll always be there but you and us positive ones are strong enough to win. Keep up the good work 👍

Day 800👏🏼 I would fix the gearbox you’ll regret not doing it when you’re doing the rest. 🤞🏻
Potato plate!!! 👍👍👍
Ironic the people giving you negativity are watching your videos & commenting on them, making you more money 🤣 keep em coming Olly!
As you’ve gone so far in now repair gears and fit a new clutch. I see Tom wasn’t happy today with him new to him (as he commented more than once) shear grab.

🤣🤣🤣
