@@0711floflo definitely the keylab. its a great starter, and the software is a solid start as you learn more and learn how to play you can then decide if you want to upgrade to their flagship, or akai, NI etc.
It all comes down to what feels good to you so if any music retailers have some near you i would recommend trying different ones out more than anything. In my experience, i have not enjoyed keylab 1-2 feels but the new one is different and nice. I have a long time enjoyed the m audio keys. Although that’s just my experience.
Again the controllers to the right? Why ? We need the right hand to play the melodies. The left hand is for the controllers, like the wheels etc. that is a no go for me sorry. It is also time for polyphonic aftertouch.
Nice to see a more modern screen, and also not the microscopic OLED used on other Arturia products. Now hoping for a 76-key version, so the Octave +/- buttons can be forgotten!
I just purchased the KeyLab Essential MK3 61-key version from Sweetwater. Received it on Sunday. It's Tuesday evening, some 48 hours later, and the screen has turned white where I can't see anything. It took me a little while to set it up in Ableton when it's supposed to integrate with Ableton. I own and still use the the MK2 version of this in 49-Key and it's a good controller. I paid 100 dollars for the MK2 version 2 years ago and it's still works great. Especially when using it with Arturia's software instruments. This is very disappointing. For years I wouldn't buy Arturia's products. Then I got the KeyStep-37, which is the absolute best small keyboard I've ever used in my 35+ years playing and recording. Then I got the BeatStep, Keylab Essential MK2 49-key and the Microfreak. The MicroFreak is the absolute best beginner synth ever. With the upgrades to the software that Arturia has done.....golden. I guess what I'm saying is Arturia won me over big time. Their stuff is second to none. So what gives with the new KeyLab Essential MK3?
@@delferius9110 Did that. First thing I always do with new hardware is to download and upgrade any drivers and other software. I was using Ableton 10 at the time, so I don't know if that makes a difference. It works now
The layout seems to be backwards. Knobs and faders should be on the left so that melodies can still be played while sounds are sculpted. I don't understand the design thoughts here.
Hoping for a more portable 37 keys Essentials mk3, even though I see how it would be difficult to fit all of these controls in such a reduced width body...
i feel like 37 is the sweetspot for a lot of desktop musicians but sadly only the Keystep exists for that. If there whould be a 37 Key Essentials it whould be a no-brainer for me

What I noticed is that 61 keys are smaller by .6 compared to 49 and the mod wheel is wrong position why ? I would have bought the 61 if mod wheel was right position😮 guess wait until 88 key comes out or get a key scape korg
Aftertouch usually doesn't show up on a sub $300 controller. The price of admission for that feature (hardware) seems to consistently land in the $600 plus range.
@@terrygray7465 it has a universal expression pedal port , why is that not said in the video idk , also there is poor man’s poly aftertouch aka pads pressure and works in pigments aftertouch registers as poly.
What's new compared to MK2? Besides some minor visual change? It seems the 49 mk3 has almost the same buttons I have in essential 49 mk2 (beside added Tap, Quant and removed Punch buttons, and the "Map" is now called "Bank" for unknown reason) So what is new in this one? Are the keys any better, or less noisy? Or the pads more responsive?
I really wanted to like this keyboard, but why would you put sliders on the right side? Also, no velocity set up? Can you integrate this into your software?
Was it a bad idea buying a previously registered product? Re-registering is NOT straight forwards & when it finally is 're-registered', products don't register although they say activated. Plug-ins are invalid in Ableton. I think 'support' as knowlegable as they are are stuck with what to do next.
If I set Chord to "min. Triad" and Scale to "Cm" and press the Eb key, the keyboard plays Eb+F+Bb instead of Eb+G+C => the III° of Cm. VI and VII° are also incorrect. Am I doing something wrong in the settings or is it a keyboard bug?
Question, I have the minilab mk2, and recently purchased the essential 61. I have the minifuse 2, and was wondering if it was possible to hook both controllers to have different sounds to play on a track. Meaning piano on one and electric synths on the other instead of using one keyboard and swithing?
I bought the essential 49 a few days ago. It will find Abelton Live and all the buttons work, but I can't get the keyboard to see the different categories in analog lab V. I downloaded the current Pro version, but the screen on the keyboard does not show any of the categories and the 4 buttons under the screen don't light up. Can anyone suggest a solution?
@@zyphados The Mk2 didn’t have it and most keyboards except tge launchkey have that feature so that’s why I asked. But you’re right, it’s useless without that feature and I don’t know why all brands don’t do it.

Plug and play wont work on windows with Ableton. Is there an option to stay in one programm? The Mk3 keeps switching into the Arturia mode after every input and Ableton wants all the buttons like play/stop/rec remapped.

So after weeks of perfect use the cool vega mode on my KL Essentials MK 3 doesn’t work even though it’s turned on in the midi control software. It just stays all lighted up even when pc is switched off very annoying. Been all over the net for answers didn’t find one all I found was users of similar products having the issue. Could be a new firmware that’s broken the functionality. Also tried to do a factory reset but no luck! Have to press the two buttons beneath the dial to the left. Nowhere online showed this. Really gutted!
One does not “hear” a controller keyboard in action. By definition, it makes no sound of its own (other than, perhaps, the mechanical noise of the keys being depressed).
Shame you can’t save a ‘chord’ that you’ve played by accident, to one of the pads. And then save another one to the next pad and so on for immediate recall. I could do this on the Korg M3 Workstation.
Scrolling through presets is a bummer. Since Arturia software doesn’t respond to midi program change messages, it would be nice if they’d include some “presets” buttons, that correspond to a similar patch bank system on each softsynth. I love the software, but I’d never want to use it in a live gig.
Synth action. I think they make a higher end model with semi-weighted keys. I like a synth action keybed like the Roland A49, but I haven’t played the Keylab.
Thank you, I was actually looking at that controller (Roland 49-key controller, but I tried to play every piano cover on my old Casio PX-160 by using only "the" 61 of its 88 keys, and luckily I can play all of them, but 49 key wasn't enough, so I was looking for 61-key version, Roland A-61, but to my surprise it doesn't exist, there is only a more expensive 61-key controller from roland which has too many knobs for me, i don't need no knobs/buttons/etc, but i wanted to try Roland brand, because on digital pianos Roland action is famous for being one of the most pianistic action, and i thought maybe they also make great semi-weighted action, I'm not sure if I should save up for the more expensive Roland 61-key midi controller with a bunch of knobs/buttons etc which (the knobs and buttons) i will never use, or just go for M-audio 61, but i saw a few videos that shows m-audio has really noisy keys, everything else seem great for me with that, but i live in an area where there is no music shop anywhere near by without traveling hours to a big city, so i might not able to test the keybed by playing in shop
Love to have a desktop version without the keybed for analogue lab and my vsts. Hands on control of vst instruments in a small desktop controller is a huge gap in the market.
how do I assign each individual key to have a (trigger)different sound, like an old 80s sampler? Seems like if it can do it for a "Drum Rack" I should be able to do it for any sound on any key...right? or no? or can it only be done with the Arturia Emulator II V? BTW its a Keylab essential Mk3(49 keys).
this does not really depend on this type of midi keyboards. You need a multisampler /drum machine that supports it . And your pads will be able to trigger different sounds just lile you do with drums. It's the same principle, I'm pretty sure with the ableton ,bitwig,cubase, studio one and pretty much all other daw's drum rack you can insert samples and not only drums, as well as having a Sampler with multisampling capabilities (the majority of daws again)
Help , how do I make the keylab e mk3 work with the gentleman software supplied ? mk3 works ok with Arturia lab no problems but cannot get it to talk to the other softwre , do i need to connect via 5 pin midi to usb on my laptop? or is there a setting on mk3 to use via usb out , I have one usb on my laptop only , have set parameters up in gentleman but can't get it to work with KE61 MK3
I also don't understand the thought process of having the pitch and mod wheels to the left on the 49 key model - people are buying this because they want a compact board, no? Put the wheels to the left of the 61 and above the keys on the 49.

Shame that the Pitch & Mod wheels are so cheaply made. Horrible cheap plastic. The Essential built down to a price I suppose. Apart from that these are great value and the 6 CC map memories work really well.

I had the same problem, I found the solution.
Just download the MIDI control center software to upgrade your firmware and everything will be fine!

I would have preferred faders on left and pad on right. In any case what is really needed is a keylab with a TP8/SK keybed IMHO.
Maybe they thought clip selection and triggering via the drum pads on the left hand was more important.🤷

Agree about the pads - the MKII pads require far too much force.

At mark 6:30/Pads you seem to be overdubbing on the keyboard itself, with no computer. How is that done? I cannot figure it out. Help?

Minilab 37keys?
It's like Arturia is against 37 keys. They have the Keystep-37, which is the absolute best 37-key controller ever. But it's not full size keys
what is de red button? what can you record with that?
in scale mode, when recording into a daw, does the actual corrected scale notes get recorded in, or is it just the keys you actually tap on?
I guess that the recorded notes would be the scaled notes otherwise this feature becomes quite useless

Just return in and get the new one. You always get 2-4 weeks to return an instrument after you buy it with no questions asked.

Arturia software reacts to Program change, but you need to be inside a playlist.

It's the same principle, I'm pretty sure with the ableton ,bitwig,cubase, studio one and pretty much all other daw's drum rack you can insert samples and not only drums, as well as having a Sampler with multisampling capabilities (the majority of daws again)
Help , how do I make the keylab e mk3 work with the gentleman software supplied ? mk3 works ok with Arturia lab no problems but cannot get it to talk to the other softwre , do i need to connect via 5 pin midi to usb on my laptop? or is there a setting on mk3 to use via usb out , I have one usb on my laptop only , have set parameters up in gentleman but can't get it to work with KE61 MK3

Nope. I want a short 61 because I upgrade from an Edirol 50 and have not much more space. So that's just the right decision.

Esto No es un Tutorial ... donde están los tutoriales reales , donde alguien enseñe de verdad a usar esta cosa ...??? no se entiende nada , no hay explicaciones reales y bien hechas para poder controlar el midi ... como una empresa seria como arturia no va a poder hacer unas instruciones normales y decentes para enseñar a gente que es principiante , no han intentado nada pero absolutamente nada para ayudarnos a usar este tipo de maquinas , su programa Nooooo conecta con mi mk3 , y nadie enseña como hacerlo realmente , no hay sincronicidad de nada , me siento frustrado y muy molesto porque esta plataforma es realmente una mierda y no sirve para el aprendiaje .

Shame that the Pitch & Mod wheels are so cheaply made. Horrible cheap plastic. The Essential built down to a price I suppose. Apart from that these are great value and the 6 CC map memories work really well.
