Hey mate I used too really struggle with push ups for ages. From 13 too 23 I thought I'd suck my whole life at them. Now I can do one arm pushups. What I worked on too get good at push ups. Then I'd work on core, lots of planking at first then leg raises on the bar. In my experience it's really easy too make forearm gains and core gains, if you are measuring it by performance.
Been doing the kinobody body weight program for the last several months and finally got to one arm push-ups a few weeks ago after about 6 years of consistent weight training. Felt really good.

Absolutely forgot about the inclined one arm pushups, just did archer pushups. Supersetting normal and inclined sounds like a great training. Definitely going to give it a try.
Love one arm push ups. Took a lot of training to strengthen my back to be able to handle the rotational strength needed, but once I could do a full set I felt like such a badass.
I can't do a proper 1 Armed push up I can probably just go about 70% of the way down. But this video was really helpful to learn how I can master it. After this I'm going for planch (if that's how you spell it) and handstand push ups. One Armed push ups is only the beginning of this journey of mine
One arms PU are great, using inclines are definitely a great way to build up, if you've got a staircase just work your way down the steps. Can't believe how sore my Serratus was after starting to train it, awesome!
Amazing video! These tips are super useful and really educational. Question for you... have you ever tried Next Level Diet? I got a muscle-building meal plan from them that's worked wonders for me.
The way I got my perfect form one arm push up was building up to sets of 30 second bird dogs from the push up position (not sure if there is a name for it) for counter rotation, scapular pull ups to help strengthen my scapular depression, scapular push-ups, and lots of elbow tight push ups. After about 6 weeks of doing this 3-4 times a week I did 3 perfect one arm push ups; and push ups are not my strong movement.
Adam, it me awhile to nail a one arm push up (approximately a couple weeks or more). I am able to do 3 to 4 one arm push-ups on each arm if I really try at it. I figured out that doing regular push-ups and other varieties of it gave me a better preparation for this specific exercise. Additional training involved curls and dips for a little more strength on the arms. Man, I knew you were going to do a one-arm push up video! So happy you did, Bioneer!
brilliant video but one tip that idk why I have never heard anyone discuss before me to achieve the one arm pushup is that I would 1st do them by keeping about 6 5 kg plates (I have special plates that interlock with each other when put on top of each other) under my chest to reduce the ROM and I would start at 2 reps for 1 set and then get to about 6 reps in a down set motion (6,5,4,3,2,1 reps) and I'd only increase one rep each work out and once I'd get there I would reduce a plate to increase ROM and repeat. I got to a 1 arm pushup while weighing about 95kg and I actually got a few friends to learn the same way too.

When I was in my late teens, early twenties, I was a major Bruce Lee fan and tried to emulate him in my training. I got freaky strong in certain ways. One was that at 165-170 lbs. I could do 35 one-armed push ups with pretty good form in about 30 seconds with my stronger arm. One day I did 1500 sit ups at high speed with legs half extended, feet braced, and elbows folded behind my head and going elbows to floor and then to my knees and I wasn't tired at all and could have gone on much longer but got bored. One day a body builder friend was suggesting one armed push ups to get stronger. I said that I could already do many of them with either arm. He looked a little dubious and said, "well, elevate your feet then to make it harder". I said that I could probably do quite a few of those as well. He looked at me like I was nuts and said "Let me see", so I popped my feet up on the couch we were sitting on and with no warm up promptly did 11 of them which was not quite to failure and these were bringing my shoulder almost to the floor with good body alignment. I did a lot of them (also handstand against a wall) in my training and I was generally strong everywhere almost uniformly. My friend looked at me disbelievingly and said "Man, you are some kind of freak!". That early training with some lifelong fitness focus has kept my strong all of my life. I am 64 and can still climb a rope with just my arms and have beaten fit men twenty to thirty years younger in basic calisthenics competitions. Cheers.
Did one arm pushups build mass and strength ? And also kindly tell us one arm pushup good to build up strength ? Also have you tried one arm dive bomber push-ups hell a lot difficult than the regular one arm pushup Btw I appreciate how strong you are at 64 thx for being the motivation for the young people
@@hhhhhhh_005 My routine just made me strong and well-muscled all over but not especially big. I was trying to be more like Lee, light, fast, strong and with high CV fitness which is what I was. I was strong enough that when I tried the human flag, and the iron cross for the first time, I could do both of them at about 165-170 lbs. I also used to beat almost anyone I met in an arm wrestle with my right hand and I was left-handed. However later in life at about 40, I suddenly put on about 40 lbs.without training for mass but about 90% of it was muscle. Now I weigh 205-210 at about 10% BF. I never tried bomber with one arm but I'm pretty sure that I could have done at least 4-5 of them from the strength that I had especially with my better arm. One-armed pushups are great for overall tone and general strength especially with really good form. Doing them fast is really good for things like punching and throwing power and doing them slowly is great for really strengthening the entire shoulder and upper arm area and integrating that strength into your core strength to make you generally more powerful in various positions common to sports and athletics. Cheers.

@@hhhhhhh_005 push up workouts are great for all kinds of strength. I would do a combination of types at different speeds with multiple sets (3-5). If you are trying to improve strength without gaining weight, stop well before failure with each set and take rests of several minutes (2-3) between sets. All of these types of push ups will help you get to or improve one-armed push ups; Archer, Arms Forward, Diamond, Wide Arm, Mike Tyson, Bomber, One Arm Elevated (like on a stack of books), and Handstand. I wonder if Teige Hanley can help me learn the one arm push up.
bro this ain't alpham
@@pablogonzalez2009 Did you not see the Teige Hanley sponsor in the middle of the video?
My issue with pushups has always been wrist pain. My wrist's don't hurt while doing the motion but if I start trying to do 25-50 pushups the next day my wrists hurt. I've struggled with how to fix this. Do you have a regiment for fixing wrist issues?
Use paralletes
Have you tried strengthening your wrist flexors with wrist curls? Also doing some wrist warmups before pushups can be a good help
@@researchproject034 I've done some curls and did not notice much difference however it may require several months vs several weeks. In general I've notice my biceps get very tight and require mobility/stretches to help keep my wrists healthy. I have not tried warming up other than doing some other exercises like bench press or shoulder presses.
@@ZenFighter189 I tried those but the ones I had I found pushed into my hand in an awkward way. I have a double jointed thumb so sometimes gripping items have unusual points of pressure others don't seem to have. However, I may try and revisit it. Perhaps my body will adjust over time. Thank you for the reply.
Yo i want to know if it would be effective to train 10 minutes around 3 to 5 times a day woth stuff like isometrics and core strength a couple days a week. For over all core and body streangth
Badass vid thanks!
Is normal to feel my back popping up during this exercise if no what should I change in my form?
I don't know if this is normal, but I added one arm push ups into my routine, and my inner thighs are killing me. does anybody else have this problem?
What should I do if this is making the inside of my elbow (near the funny bone) hurt ? I have to stop doing them
Thanks
I've reached the point where I can do it on my fingertips on one hand for three reps and also on my fingertips on the other hand for one
I tried removing fingers but sowing them back on was a real hassle
Will it stop my stomach and mid to lower back hurting
I wonder if being able to rep out one arm pushups translates well to punching power like Goku
hi Bio. would you consider starting a discord server for those that don't use other social media and would like to share experiences with other like-minded folks?
I have never heard of nipple to grass or ass to grass but I have heard of ass to ass. which exercise is that one?
I have been wondering if weighted calisthenics can be harmful for joints and tendons, is there any risk? if so where and why? I would be very grateful if you could help me with this
If you work hard, you must also recover hard. If you miss the recovery part, there'll be bad consequences.
Wow! How about weights? Does anyone try that to help? Does it help the core as much?
