It’s awesome how Green Gartside and David Gamson could project their style onto other artists like this! The Scritti Politti vibes here are unmistakable and I absolutely _love_ it!
Tim Julian I have that compilation which I found in a second hand shop. I wish all these old tunes could easily be downloaded. Another great tune from that album is 7th Heaven - Hot Fun.
+Tim Julian It was released on a UK 7" and 12" single (I have both), but not released in the US for some odd reason - an ace Scritti tune that had hit potential!
Wow, it's a sunny morning and listening to this is like going back in time to 1980-whatever :-) I remember hearing and seeing this video once only in the 80's, sugary sweet Scritti Politti and a hit they could have had themselves. Thanks for posting.
Firstly thanks to Johnnyjane1 for posting this! It's great when you uncover an old gem like this that you haven't heard for years. Still sounds good, should have been a hit. A good example of the pioneering production work of Gamson and Maher. To this day I've not a heard a cleaner, crisper sound than the one these guys invented.
Wow, I sort of love this! For this style of music this is great, a lot better than the usual. It's more than that, the bridge reveals this is art. Dark NYC art like what she came from, more or less. Why couldn't this have been a hit? I would have loved to hear this on the radio and seen this vid at the time -and I'm into much harder core shit but this is alright.
I had only ever heard of her because she had sang backup on some Culture Club recordings and I read a small article about her. I remember that she thought George had a talent for conveying a song with just his voice yet she "...failed to see what he was confronting." (with regard to his persona -image). Now I'm so jealous of her career that she worked with two more of my faces, Scritti and TFF! Have to say that I really like this song but her solo stuff bewilders me.
Here's a hit she had in 1988 across Europe as a featured artist with producer John "Jellybean" Benitez, "Just a Mirage". th-cam.com/video/xhEwUqnAtbU/w-d-xo.html
I have looked for this for years , quality song this Once again thanks to johnnyjane for sticking it on . So much music would be lost forever if it wasnt for youtube . You cant get this on napster
I had this song on a double compilation album, but I don't remember this video, which reminds me of the Yazz (remember HER?) video for "The Only Way Is Up"...
Thanks for posting! I had this on 12" vinyl - usual great production as you say by David Gamson and Scritti Politti. What was the deal with Adele Bertei - a backing vocalist originally?? Was she big in the US? Most in the UK never heard of her.
This song sounds very dated and generic. I think her best song is "The Green Suit" from her Little Lives album. It's an amazing song. Great story and inspiring vocal.

The perfect blend of Scritti Politti and Go West you never knew you needed!
Oh my god!!!! I'm the biggest David Gamson fan in the world AND I'VE NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE. I'm crying with joy!!!!!
It never got released that is probably why. Although it was on a UK compliation album "Out Now"1985

I'm the biggest David Gamson fan in the world, not you
This song really captures the groove of the 80's.
I love Adele, but didn't even know this video existed until now. Thanks so much for posting it.
Lisa Stansfield 89 look

Double message
Give me this Adele over THAT one any day. (And Rachel Sweet - another favourite voice...)

OBVIOUSLY Gamson's producing. All those keyboards and arranging sounds just like "Lover To Fall"
Your right, David Gamson, Fred Meyer (Scritti Politti Drummer) & John Potoker (Scritti Politti board engineer)
Said before,audio not the best.

She was also the female vocalist on Thomas Dolby's "Hyperactive". th-cam.com/video/hAEiCA8dN_8/w-d-xo.html
what a great voice, what a great song.
i don't think she ever really broke out anywhere, i certainly only knew her from thomas dolby's "hyperactive".

Don't you just love Green Gartside and whatever crack he was smoking in the 80s that made him write all these super hits?
Green/Gamson/Potoker FTW!!!
ah enfin de la funk merci je connaissait pas
Gail Ann Dorsey in Prison gives this video a surreal edge. This song is bliss.
Lover To Fall!
yeah yr right - Green wrote it and produced it too
Yep! :-)
I have looked for this for years , quality song this Once again thanks to johnnyjane for sticking it on . So much music would be lost forever if it wasnt for youtube . You cant get this on napster

She worked with Jellybean too on just a mirage.
@@allanrobertson2401 I'll listen
Out Now! 2?
Is this the same Adele from hometown glory? Lol it sounds like a totally different voice ^^
Denim Is The New Black
Better than Madonna....😌☺️
strange considering she was playing guitar in the contortions before this..
it looks like as if she had lost "the battle" to Lisa Stansfield....
This song sounds very dated and generic. I think her best song is "The Green Suit" from her Little Lives album. It's an amazing song. Great story and inspiring vocal.
sounds like a track that madonna rejected
Nope, too good to be rejected by Madge
Wow, even in the eighties they had woke sjw videos
