Yeah, Leclerc's race was basically over by turn 3. Got pinched and had nowhere to go, got some damage, and that was all she wrote. I swear Leclerc is the most unlucky driver in F1 history. It's just ridiculous and such a damn shame.

@@JackHarb89 max already set the precedent in 2019 at Austria against Charles that you can hit another car and push them off the track and keep the place and win. It’s ok when Max does something, but if anyone else does it, it’s a penalty. Why is it “hard racing” when max dives another driver, but reckless when anyone else tries it?
All of this could have been avoided if crashstappen didn’t turn into a car going straight…

The more I rewatch the battle, the more I think the only bad/dangerous move was the very first one into turn 3. Every other was hard racing and I absolutely want to see more of it in the future (including Landos divebomb). If not for the unfortunate puncture, we would discuss how great the battle was.

Lando breaking track limits to catch up should be talked about a bit more he was in a position he shouldn't have been in. Max had a 1 second gap then Lando broke limits and was behind in DRS.
Well that would have been one of his warnings for breaking track limits that ultimately ended up in a 5 second penalty.. what more should be said?

The track limits penalty was ridiculous. There was one violation that was on Lando, and he gave the advantage back immediately. For the others he was forced off be Max illegally blocking.

Jep, Even as a Max fan I will say Max was at fault for the contact, and the penalty was correct but it was avoidable for Lando. But just like max's divebombs are dangerous and lando's are great attempts. Still too many double standards from too many people.

But lando legitimately had no where to go except off the track for the accident. They were parallel and lando didn’t turn towards verstappen at all and they touched. So someone turned and someone has a history and had a rule created because they kept braking and turning in front of people
@johndoe39322 he should have gone off track, it'd very likely have gotten max a penalty and it's just best practice to avoid and accident like when max avoided landos angry bombings, it's a racing incident because both drivers were heavily at fault and when Lando pulled up Max's eyes were straight on the apex. It's touchy but Lando should have and could have avoided the collision

wdym one mistake. He was moving under breaking and basically inviting a crash to happen for 3 laps in a row. Moving under breaking isn't a "mistake", its a clear violation of the rules and for a very good reason, because its damn risky and unpredictable for the following car. And in what world can we not call max out for his unsportsmanlike conduct, just because he praised him before for his blistering quali speed and very good race management? Makes no sense.
Thats like saying I cant lecture my child for starting a fight at school just because he had good grades. Just really stupid logic

Im a LeClerc fan, so no real dog in this fight, but Max knows how to keep things interesting.
One can dislike what he did, but it was quite smart, seeing as he increased his lead in drivers championship.
Was there enough room left within the white line? No, thats why Max got the penalty. But Lando could have gone on the curb more to avoid contact. Sure, legally he didnt have to, but being in the right means little when you get a DNF.
Only Charles can get out on the winning side with Max.
The others don't have the sense and skill to deal with him.

None of these people would've survived watching a race 10, 15, 20 years ago. People care way too much about other's opinions and social media. These racing drivers are grown adults with championship mentalities, they will get over it, move on and not cry on twitter for years afterwards.

- What was weird or blantantly of the stewards. Norris got a 5sec penalty. But they only gave the penalty after the incident. even they knew laps before. Either they were scared to give it, or they wanted the show for the lead.
- well deserved 10 secs for max. but like alwas it doesn't matter.
- The Hulk beat Perez.
- If Max is on the podium every race without winning he is champion. Only the red bull is a good car on all tracks... so its stupid driving from max. just bring the points home.
Your last statement is false. We still have 13 races to go (without sprints) and if Verstappen gets 2nd every race and Norris wins every race, there are still 13 * 7 = 91 points + 13 points for fastest lap = 104 points. At this points Verstappen is 237 - 156 = 81 points clear of Norris. So, technically we still have a championship. However that window is shrinking fast...
@@2Fast4Mellow mathematically yes. But i don't think Norris can win every race. Mercedes, Ferrari & Mclaren have all had there moments. But Verstappen's red bull is always contender for the win.
@@2Fast4Mellow Well Max at least has to take 1 engine penalty I think. I dont know about Norris given the state of his car after the race (hopefully engine is just fine), but given the current situation even Max might find it difficult to cruise even on the podium if he had to start from further back. Mercedes looks much closer now as well, so unlike last year people wont just be waving Max through.
So yeah Of course we are kinda depending on some luck here. That being said I think Redbull is very likely to not win constructors if this continues.
@@Yautja24 I agree that the chances of getting a new world champion in 2024 are very slim, and Norris is at the moment the most likely contender. It is easy to say that the stewards should have been faster with Norris track limit penalty, but why hasn't Red Bull informed Max that Norris was getting a 5 second penalty? Also the pitstop wasn't as clean as usual and he had to wait for Norris to pass in the pitlane. Max normally is a smart driver, but Norris is very close for a few races now, so I think Max wanted to prevent that Norris thinks he can become a world champion. But the better play would have been to come home in second, even without the track limits penalty for Norris. Max doesn't need to win every race. Winning every other race is also good enough...
The Verstappen-Norris fight did give me some flashback to 2021 is I had to be honest...
@@LunnarisLP With Perez current driving (he is fighting Haas and Alpine cars for God sake) I don't think can win the title all alone. Perez needs to step up fast. Max has indeed used his 4th engine, but that doesn't mean that the three previous are written off. In Australia he had a brake issue, so he should still have 4 engines in his pool which he can rotate. Today Max was a bit unlucky with his last pitstop which reduced his 7 second pitstop back to 2 seconds and his race came undone very quickly after that while minutes early he was seemingly coasting to another victory.
So far, I like the 2024 season. But this season will be a serious test for the friendship between Verstappen and Norris if more of these close races are to come...
