Zhinvali Reservoir is an artificial lake located on the river Aragvi, Dusheti Municipality, in 70 kilometers from the capital Tbilisi on Georgian Military Road. Zhinvali Reservoir is created by a dam at the confluence of Pshavi’s Aragvi and Mtiuleti’s Aragvi (White Aragvi). The total surface area of the lake is 11,5 km². Lake is surrounded by the forests on the slopes of the mountain ridges of Kartli, Alevi, and Gudamakari.
Construction of the dam was completed in 1985, and Zhinvali Hydroelectric Power Plant (130 MW total power) went into operation in the same year.
