Most men shower before shaving, but I like to swim against the current! Shave, witch hazel (initial soothing), hot shower (additional soothing from heat), cold shower (invigorating and closes the pores), finish my morning routine with splash (usually glacial) applied to face, forehead, ears, and whole neck, and matching balm (unscented if no matching balm) applied in the same fashion as the splash. The scent lasts most if not all day. If I wear an additional fragrance, it is the last thing I apply before walking out the door. Stirling products are simply without peer. Consistent, superior performance across the entire line. Thank you Rod and Mandy and thank you to the entire Stirling Team!
Big fan of your aftershave splash; I've found that with other brands of splashes, my face turns bright red and irritated because of my sensitive skin, but it doesn't Stirling. Thanks for the great stuff!
that’s kinda the point dude, you’re throwing alcohol on raw, scratched irritated skin it’s natural. otherwise i’d suggest a non alcohol based after shave splash but the entire point of traditional wet shaving is the ‘traditional’ side of it
Unfortunately, the entire complete line of your products does not arrive in Italy, I hope very soon to be able to find your other products, first of all your Witch Hazel & Aloe in addition to the shaving soap, the post shave balm and the Aftershave splash which fortunately are available they can be found very easily and at a truly competitive price. I wish you many more successes. Greetings Marco
you guys should make more of these! I found you guys from a reddit comment last year and have been loving it! Planning to order like 7 new things here soon haha. An EDT/solid cologne video would be nice! Been curious about those lately!
I just started the video but I really appreciate that you went a little bit more technical to break down what each ingredient does.. really cool, thanks! And I've been diving back into my Stirling soaps lately, and I just received Haverford and Barbershop today. Gosh I should have gotten thise earlier! Amazing as always 👌
Hello, I just wanted to say hello, introduce myself and congratulate you on everything you have managed to create and on the excellent quality of your products. I have always liked traditional shaving and I happily use brush, shaving soap, balm and after shave but instead of a safety razor I prefer to use a multi-blade razor. You should know that since I used your shaving soap for the first time I have not changed and I continue to use only your products and one type of Saponificio Varesino but only because I like the scent. However, I consider your shaving soap smoother and more comfortable than all the soaps I have tried so far and believe me there are quite a few. Greetings from Rome. Marco
The Barbershop splash is absolutely amazing and the scent is SO Awesome that me and my dad will use it to smell good when we go out. He used it first and he said.."Mike,I just used 2 small drops!" I was like..NO way! It's just simply amazing! Smells fantastic Rod and Mandy, you guys are killin' it! Just some awesome products and scents
My post-shave routine goes 1. Stirling Splash (best on the market) to disinfect and clean 2. Balm to soothe the skin and 3. Talc to dry off. Talc seems to have fallen out of a lot of wet shavers routines, but I get out the neck duster and use it every time for my post-shave 1, 2, 3 punch. I've found Taylor of Old Bond Street talc to be the best, but will of course buy Stirling if that ever happens. Cheers!
@@srogers88 Interesting. I think I have only used Taylor and Trumper. I grabbed my bottle of Taylor and it has all kinds of ingredients in it I honestly have no clue what they are. Here's a list: Talc, Fragrance, Magnesium Carbonate, Linalool, Citronellol, Butyphenol Methyl Proprional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonnene, Alpha-isomethyl Ionone, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, and Cinnamal. AKA "a bunch of weird sh*t." Ha! All I know is that it makes you feel like you just left a really good barber shop after a pro shave.
Haha you don’t look like a slug. Love your products and I’m also a big fan of the morning burn. Usually follow up with your aftershave balm and my face is feeling good all say. The Duke scent is incredible; thank you so much for making shaving an enjoyable experience. Cheers
I am new to stirling and have been absolutely blown away by your product and business. Your aftershave balm is the best I've ever tried. You are going to go far! New customer for life. Bravo on Ben Franklin btw 👏 🙌
Great explination! Your balm is outstanding. I use it after almost every shave. I use alcohol splash as well but haven't tried the Witch Hazel and Aloe version so I'll have to get one with the next order. Yes, ordering from Stirling is an inevitability, in a good way of course! Thanks for the helpful video.
I havent used any of the the post shave products but after watching this video i will be buying and using them! Im a big fan of the bath soaps and shave soaps. I really appreciate this video! It helped me make up my mind about trying the post shave product.

You are the only one in my honest opinion who have put the customer above your personal profit. You never compromise quality, quantity and price for your personal profit. I wished I lived in the States that there is more variety of your outstanding products. Currently 30 shaving soaps, 3 shaving brushes (1br, 1bg, 1s), 1 razor, 8 aftershave balms, 1 pre shave oil and 1 aftershave splash. I'm sure other wet shavers have triple that amount. Please more videos. Love you❤ 👍🥇🏆💈🙏🪒
Great stuff, products and this video. Huge fan, been using sterling products for many years. I use witch hazel just before a splash, not so much as to ease the burn but to clean the leftovers..then, yep a balm for the final and sometimes an a EDC, EDT or EDP is used. Everybody's different! Thanks folks for the hard work.
Thank you. I typically follow up with a few spritzes of some type of fragrance as well. We test out so many scents that my fragrance collection has gotten overwhelming.
I just recently started wet shaving. I use an alum block after my shaving before putting on balm. I, of course, rinse off the alum once my face dries. Then finish with balm. Thanks for the informative video.
u both didnt answer on my email anymore but its okay. atleast bring more videos! u products are great but they are so rare to get! stirling is my fav now nothing can be better than that. i hope u guys are doing great! happy new year even its 25 days later haha
Mandy and Rod, you've done it again with your surprise ending. You had me laughing along with you. Can't wait to see Rod in a collared shirt. Maybe wear a bow tie to go go along with it. ;-) I finish my shaves with witch hazel (and I actually like the scent). Once that dries down, Stirling Unscented balm is applied. My skin always feels great after that.
Hey Freddy! Thank you for watching. I think with my huge head a bowtie would look comically small on me. I am going to start small with a collar though!
Thanks for the breakdown/explanations and love the out takes at the end. I need a Stirling themed shave tomorrow including my Stirling Razor, Take care you 2 !
Hi Guys. Love all your stuff, it’s amazing and makes my shaves a joy instead of a chore ( I have to shave daily). Your products are so universal that my son, wife and daughters are also hooked. Thanks for all you do and make. I also love your video and the personal touch they have. Kind regards, Stephen.
The only scent that gave me issues so far was Weekend in Malibu. The soap and the aftershave irritated my skin. I got a constant burning sensation and my skin got slightly red. It sucks because it's one of my favorite scents.
Just starting out, my post shave, I get my burn from an alum bar, and throw some Thayers on after. I don’t have sensitive, or dry skin, so the aftershave won’t be an issue. I already love your soaps, and will try all your post shave products, and decide what works best for me. Thanks for the info.
Very educational. Thanks! I’m discovering I’m not an alcohol-based aftershave guy. (I don’t have any if yours so it’s not an issue with your product). It causes me to break out into a rash. When I have had this issue, your balms come in really handy.
Great talk gang. I have and use all 3 options usually 2 per shave. I’m such a renegade, I always use the splash last. I always wondered why there was more limited scent options in the witch hazel. Well, my Stirling starter set came in today and I had my first safety razor shave. So here's my first combat after action report.... Used a Shark blade, Pre shave mentholated soap, Deep Blue Sea shave soap, Alum block then Deep Blue Sea aftershave. No cuts! Horrendous razor burn on my neck though. I think maybe I didn't hydrate the lather enough, not sure Shark was the best choice of blade for a first shave but I'm going to stick with that blade a few more times. The razor burn on my neck was so bad the first water splash after the shave burned like aftershave, the Alum block was like rubbing hot coals on my neck, the aftershave might as well have been hydrochloric acid. All in all, I really enjoyed it, I got a really close shave, easily as close as I ever got with a cartridge. I might have to give my neck a day or two to recover but I'm looking forward to trying again. Thanks Stirling!
I’m a big fan of balm aftershave products and Sterling aftershave balms are rated at the top of the list, IMHO! One humble suggestion, though, as far as your videos …. Both of you should be wearing Sterling Soap Co. shirts when recording your presentations. After all, it is your “”brand” that you are promoting. 👍🏻
Nice video guys! I have many of the products you guys offer and I really enjoy all of them. Soaps, splashes, balms, brushes, shampoo bars, lipbalms (best ones out there btw, even my mom has Stirling lip balms : ) ect., ect. BTW: I think Mediterranean Man should be in the main lineup. I have almost all of your cologne/inspired by scents and I think Mediterranean Man is one of the best. It's a beautiful scent! 😎👌 Bonafide, Stirling Black, and Oud Sigma were also wonderful IMO 👍 Have a good one guys! Steve
Great video I have all of them except the Witch Hazel & Aloe. Any chance of you ever making haverford with that? I'd be interested for sure. I don't do menthol anything. Thanks for taking the time to make this and crack me up!
I have just started traditional wet shaving and have selected to use your fine products. Can you combine your after-shave splash followed with the balm? I was told that the burn that the splash causes is benificial as a disinfectant killing any bacteria followed up by a post- balm as a moisturizer for the skin?
That's correct. It of course depends on the needs of your skin, but you would use the aftershave splash first, and then follow it up with a balm for moisture.
Another awesome instructional video on these post shave products, I appreciate the education. BTW, if somebody smelled you 3-counties over, I'd say you must have bathed in your strongest cologne jk lol. Hey, I got a request for you fine folks. Since lime is a citrus product, I think it would be a missed opportunity, to not have a glacial lime scent line. I personally would like to pick up a glacial lime shave soap from you guys by the time summer is around. Thanks you too!
Thank you very much! It's unfortunately too late to get the Glacial Lime done this year, as I don't have labels designed or produced for it, but I'm adding it to the list for next year. I don't know why we haven't done that one yet.
I only use Stirling shave soaps even though I have other from the most common brands in the DE shave community. For me, they are the best regardless of scents. Usually I use lubriderm, Cerave, Jack black, rugged and tough as they soothe and moisture my face. Would your balm be considered or as effective for that purpose?
Absolutely love your products. I always used the balm after the shave because I thought that’s what helped heal the skin after the shave and that’s how it was supposed to be used. I usually wait 15-30 minutes for the balm to be completely absorbed before I put on splash. But sometimes didn’t have time and put the splash on straight after. Is it ok if I wait for balm to be fully absorbed or is this just wrong or just a case of YMMV
Hey Rod & Amanda, excellent video! I think that your balm can be used as a moisturizer even we don't shave. Also, I hope the body butter to come in Greece soon, I would definitely use it on my face for the colder days, with such an excellent ingredients list. 😅 In addition, having the Mutton tallow formula, I don't know if it's placebo or not, but I find it slicker and more rich than the original one. I haven't tried the splash yet, for the fear of drying out the skin because of the alcohol. (All the splashes dry my face 😂 ). Keep up the good work, you too work well together!!
Love your products and thank you for these videos with the helpful and useful information…but I’m going to add a critique as well. I don’t care about the collared shirt but maybe you should have a cup (or two) of your Stirling coffee. There is not a lot of energy in these videos….kind of comes off as an Eeyore vibe.
I disagree I think it is fine. If you try to hard sometimes it comes off as fake. If anything maybe some better lighting or better mic or something, but I like the format. They’re not in entertainment if they wanted to be on that level they should just hire a spokesperson, but I prefer owners that are hands on. They clearly show with the bloopers it’s probably not the most comfortable thing for them.
Hello Mandy and Rod. I wish i would be a big fan and buy all your products, but in ALL your shave soaps is BEEF TALLOW in your ingredients, and that is for me an NO GO for a shave soap or cream..... no animal ingerdients is for me very important, i hope in the future that you could delete this from all your soaps.... and the Stirling soap company would be the FIRST AMERICAN shave soap with no bad or animal ingredients.... i n my bathroom i have only italian brands with only good ingredients.( Extro Cosmesi, The goodfellas smile, Mastro Miche and more,,,,,) i hope maybe in future a lot of your products in my bathroom.... Respectful greetings and Love Migell.✨✨💖💖😉😉😉😉

I've got more Agar shave soap that will be added to the website later today.
Thank you very much, Eduardo. I would put our balms up with all of those, and ours have a much cleaner ingredients list.
You'll get the most out of the moisturizing if you do the splash first and then the balm, but whatever works best for you is always the right answer.
@@StirlingSoap Thanks, appreciate it
Hey Rod & Amanda, excellent video!
I think that your balm can be used as a moisturizer even we don't shave.
Also, I hope the body butter to come in Greece soon, I would definitely use it on my face for the colder days, with such an excellent ingredients list. 😅
In addition, having the Mutton tallow formula, I don't know if it's placebo or not, but I find it slicker and more rich than the original one.
I haven't tried the splash yet, for the fear of drying out the skin because of the alcohol. (All the splashes dry my face 😂 ).
Keep up the good work, you too work well together!!
Thank you very much!
What is the texture of the witch hazel & aloe? Is it more like a splash or more like a balm? Is it like a gel?
It's a liquid. Not as thin as the alcohol in an aftershave, but about the consistency of water.
@@StirlingSoap Thank you.

Mandy has told me multiple times that I come across as Eeyore. I don't know if I'll ever have the energy of the Oxy Clean or Sham Wow guys.
Hello Mandy and Rod.
I wish i would be a big fan and buy all your products,
but in ALL your shave soaps is BEEF TALLOW in your ingredients, and that is for me an NO GO for a shave soap or cream..... no animal ingerdients is for me very important,
i hope in the future that you could delete this from all your soaps....
and the Stirling soap company would be the FIRST AMERICAN shave soap with no bad or animal ingredients....
i n my bathroom i have only italian brands with only good ingredients.( Extro Cosmesi, The goodfellas smile, Mastro Miche and more,,,,,)
i hope maybe in future a lot of your products in my bathroom....
Respectful greetings and Love
Migell.✨✨💖💖😉😉😉😉
Great video. Thanks guys!
Thank you very much!
