Hello EJ, are there any other tips for catching bigger crappie? Or would it be after dark when the big ones come out? Could I try live shad or would the small ones still eat them.
The only thing I can think of is what you said bigger crappies feeding at night. You might catch some bigger ones super early in the morning, like 6am. Trying minnows or shad might work but yes small ones will eat them also.

Yep, crappie definitely strike 2" rattle traps. I troll with them and small crank baits for crappie in the fall. Also, keep slack in your line when removing treble hooks. It helps to not get hooked if the treble hook comes out of the fish's mouth. Good fun and video. Be blessed.. #WHODAT!
