I can really only wear it in a french braid or it gives me a headache and it stays in for 3 ish days before i need to wash my hair and i use rosehip oil when i brush and braid after washing and also when i brush it out before washing usually let the oil soak in for an hour at least before hand and just enjoy having my hair loose usually at that time ill be massaging my head or doing a sheet mask or other beauty things even if im just having a nap or eating some icecream 😂 its my leave me alone im resting time. But yeah ive been looking for different hairstyles that as it grows past probably the waist even having it in a french braid it gets in the way. Either by sitting on it or dropping it into things but of course having it up hurts even a low bun so wrapping over head ive tried but it always slipped out or looks weird on me like my face is very round so maybe thats it but yeah it looks more like im dressing in a costume than just putting my hair up 😂 my hairs too slippery to even hold curls and now that its heavier it really can barely hold itself up ive found the no hair tie twisted bun works amazing add a bair stick and its more secure but yeah i prefer braids i really get why rapunzel did the one long braid anything else feels like a marathon its easier to jut dress it up with hair combs and barrettes and flowers and little twist in hair jewellery 😂

Calf-length hair here and my favourite hair-style "hack" is very, very history-bounding appropriate. It is called the modified Elling Woman braid. It is a simplified version of the hairstyle from a bog body dated to the Iron Age. It is very practical and does not even need any tools and I can farm in it, run, do yoga and it stays in place so well! Loepsie and Silvousplaits both have good videos showing how to do it.
Thank you for mentioning this!! I have calf length hair too and this style worked so well for me. I tucked the end of the braid under and used a hair stick. It stayed in place so well and so comfortable.😊
i cut my endings last year to get rid of about 20 years of hair coloring. and not to mention, 5 years back, i bleached from black (and burned) my hair. then i recolored it dark brown Luckily it grows. but slowly. it reached my shoulders. I miss my mid back hair....
I have knee-length hair, and collarbone was about the worst length for me, it annoyed me so much. Once it gets longer, it gets easier to put up so it's less in the way.
Another benefit of starting to braid two English braids with the back section first, like you showed in the video, is that it makes the back of the scalp hair along the parting lay flat against the head, wich is much more comfortable to wear. Ps. Definitely going to try this, even though my hair is 'only' hip length.
the bow with the little pocket thing is called a snood. it was used very commonly in medieval Europe to keep women's hair out of the way under the veils. Sadly it's packed away right now, but soon...) But omg Anna, I needed this a couple of days ago. My daughter has butt-length hair and I was trying to recreate your crown braids on her hair but it kept slipping down. I didn't know your handy dandy trick to keep it in place. My mom loved snoods! She wore them when she worked as a nurse to keep her hair out of the way, as patients liked to pull her braid. She also loved history and would have been fascinated that they were used so many centuries ago!

Yessss more long hair tutorials!!!! I’ve started tying the ends of my braids with yarn, as I have it readily available and it doesn’t snag and pull out your hair. Plus if you wrap it correctly, it gives you vaguely medieval “I tie my hair with leather” vibes without the leather. If I’m putting my hair up, I’ll just tie it round the end a few times and then wrap the excess yarn around the end and tie it off again but if I’m leaving it down I’ll actually weave it into the ends of the braids and then tie it off and that way it never falls off. I’ve been loving using hair sticks lately. I got one standard size one and two small size ones and I’ve found there are so many variations and possibilities. Having the two small ones on hand definitely makes it easier to secure all my hair in one bun. Also I’ve found that a single loose braid makes a nautilus bun so much more secure for my very straight hair, being able to poke the hair stick through the braid and knowing it won’t unravel and slide out within an hour is a definitely making my life better

The tip I want to share is a summer food hack. When you buy a watermelon, begin by peeling the outer green coarse skin, then peel out the light green and pink rind, when you’re left with a red ball of watermelon flesh, slice it to de-seed it then cube it.. Freeze part of the cubes to make smoothies, nice creams or sorbets (no need to add sugar). Eat the remaining cubes in fruit salads or savory salads. With a mandolin, make ribbons with half of the rind, use part of them to make tsukemono or kimchi. Use the remaining ribbons as noodles. Finely dice the rest of the rind and cook it with half its weight in sugar, to make jam. And, last but not least, thoroughly wash the seeds and put them to sprout, sprinkle the sprouts on your salads, sandwiches, etc… There’s so much food in a watermelon 🍉 it’s just amazing. @@PrettyShepherd There is a whole movement around this: From leaf to root 👍 Our everyday food items offer so much more for humans to consume safely and even with benefits to our health (dietary fiber is such an important but totally overlooked part of human nutrition) than just the few parts most modern humans have learned to use but chop away and throw away the rest. Which is so sad when we think about how much work and effort went into growing those plants 😊
I love these! As a newly babtised cottagecore woman, I find this incredibly useful! And as for the life hack.... I boil eggs in the kettle. It works like a charm. Just wait couple of minutes after that and it will be done. No need for the saucepan and it makes itself. Just be to only put in eggs w/ undamadged shells because there may be white leak.
Your forest fairy folksy coif is totally adorable! I know the struggles of long hanging hair. You can accidentally slam the door on it, LOL. One time I was riding a Ferris wheel and didn't realize that with every revolution my hair was winding tighter around the axle of the swinging seat/car. Luckily the axle was heavily greased and I was able to pull my hair loose. XOXO from Missouri.
Oh my! That ferris wheel accident does sound horrific 🙀🙈 but also... I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has difficulties using doors as they are meant to be used 😆 (my own hair's peril is getting caught in doorknobs, on the regular 🤣)
you were very lucky!!! and very right!!! perils include conveyer belts at grocery stores, not to mention pool filters... Rapunzels must be very careful of these real dangers! same goes with scarves around the neck... also escalators
Yes...... the return of spring forest flower fairy farting on your head!! I still maintain that this is the best and most completely epic line, the best thing I've ever heard!! 🥰💐🌸🌺🌹⚘🌻🌷🌾💐😘💋❤

The prettiest funniest realest shepherd youtuber!!! So enjoy your vids Pretty Shep!!! You inspire me to wrap my braids around my neck for braiding!!!! And love the spring forest fairies' gas effect!!! Tysm
I'm currently learning how to minimize my pots and pans to a couple of woks. It's amazing how many things you can make in a wok, both traditional and non traditional dishes. I have the standard carbon steel wok and a stainless steel wok for acidic dishes or dishes that involve a lot of boiling. So far I've been able to do everything I can with my other pots and pans with the exception of baking.
Wow your hairstyles are so pretty and creative! And your grey hair looks amazing with your style. I also love your dress, it looks a lot like our traditional Austrian Dirndl!
I’ll have to keep this in mind as my hair grows longer. Finding tricks to get it out of my way, and not use a bun with elastics which give me a headache, are always welcome. As for welcome life hacks, I can’t think of much except garlic salt. I once used it on soft boiled eggs when I didn’t have regular salt and it was so good I started using it wherever I can. Beef soup a little bland? Garlic salt! Veggies not exciting you? Garlic salt! Seriously! I feel like I use less of it than normal salt because it has the garlic flavor and it goes with SOOO many things!
@@sidhedanu hair sticks work too but I always snag them and in my line of work, it’s too easy to do. The bun works well but I use two heavy duty elastics. I begin the bun and when I complete one full wrap, I pull the hair through the bun like a knot, split the tail into 2 or 3 sections and twist/wrap them around the bun base at different points like a usual twist bun but several that are smaller. Once the second hair elastic is on, the tails are held down and the bun is secured by its own tails. It’s heavy though and makes my head ache after a few hours. It’s easier on the head when the hair is shorter.
OMG I thought there were no cute hairstyle videos for waist length hair + on youtube...they are so hard to find for some reason!! you are the first I have found with such innovative and cute styles!!! GENIUS
My favorite way to make long hair look shorter & more "cute" is to tie it into a knot on top of my head, leaving the ends hanging out like a little ponytail, then put two hair sticks through the knot to hold it in place. For multipurpose items in general, I would say baskets - I use them to store & display my yarn, to store projects in progress, to harvest in the garden, or just for decoration.
I sewed a long sleeveless dress which I use for everything. For fancier events with some nice jewelry, for everyday with a cropped top above or a long sleeved top belob it or with the top folded down as skirt.
I have been moving a lot over the past 20 years and many times I am without mixing bowls ....I just used the pot I had and it worked out well, in fact the lid helped the bread rise with out plastic wrap or foil...so I multi purpose the pots I have into mixing bowls. And the big silver serving spoon stirs the pots on the stove....
I honestly can't believe it I saw an amazing hairstyle with a snood on a tv series where there was a braid on the top of the head and the rest of the hair was lose in the snood and I've been stumped trying to recreate it and this video is exactly what i need!!!!
This was my signature style when I had hip length hair! Except I only had about 3 inches of hair left once I wrapped them over my head that I left unbraided, and they looked like cute little pigtails. I love your even longer variation!☺️
This is such a great way to shorten hair! I will definitely try this out the next time I need hair that's slightly shorter. One thing I find very versatile are ankle-length skirts. I can wear them as an ankle length skirt, I can also wear them as a strapless dress, wear them kind of like a poncho, and I could turn it into an asymmetrical skirt or any skirt length really.
OMG, I love the butterfly clips too! I had half a dozen pastel glittery ones that I used when my hair was short. When my hair grew out, I couldn't find more of the same to hold my hair, but found a set of twelve clips shaped like little polka-dotted bows. People often mistook them for butterflies.
From the giant store named after the giant river, I bought a velvet ribbon sampler -- 25 colors, 25 yards! One yard of all the colors for a very low price. I have a little silver snowflake pendant and now, I have 25 different snowflake chokers! YAY! I love barely inconvenient hair!!
My hair is just a couple inches past my hip when it's down in the back. A single braid on one side that sets in the front reaches just below my waist. My goal is to grow it and grow it and grow it, lol 😂. These videos are helping me so much, and now - on to the ribbon video suggested here!! Luv luv luv flowers and ribbons in my hair!!
@@PrettyShepherd Some things are imprinted in our cells. I can’t look in the mirror when I braid. I always mess it up. Plus I’m left handed. Things get confusing 😂😂
Yes, mind was totally blown with the last style, so simple, but definitely Princess worthy. Again thanks for the help as my hair is very long and not sure what to do with it and I feel that just to plain Jane braids looks so juvenile even though I am getting a lot of compliments. Funny thing is last last September 2021, I had caught the Covid-19 and in about October/November I was loosing my hair by the hand fulls. Most hairstylists don’t like me because my hair is usually so think. Well, I can finally see the new growth so hopefully in about a year my new growth will fit into my braids. I have also been dealing with high heat, over 100 degrees for the last month and it is just too hot to keep my hair down and on my neck. This is also how I sleep again, just too hot. I am looking forward to trying more of your styles as my hair continues to get longer. Thanks again.
I'm truly inspired by this! And why the heck did I never think to wrap my hair around the back of my neck to keep the tension??!! Simply brill!! *Please feel free to giggle while picturing me stretching, to the utmost, my arms/ neck/ fingers while trying to finish off my braids! 😁 And, No, standing on my tippy toes did Not help!! 😄 🤦🏼♀️ Live and learn!! So glad I found your channel! Love your sense of humor, too. Thanks again gf
More inspiration to grow my bra strap length hair out some more (even though I just fell prey to my old bangs habit again). I love your creative styles! I recently started doing milkmaid braids with "peatl" embellished mini claw clips instead of Bobby pins and I love the way it looks. I use 5 or 7 depending, so it is secure and fancy. I also place the braids towards the back of my head and sometimes wear a long rectangular scarf too, for extra flair.
The special item for me is 100% cornflour, used both for cakes (I like baking) and my homemade dry shampoo (I do wet shampoo once every 2 weeks - hair is currently midback and I have a lot of it so wet shampoo is a bit of a chore and I'd rather be more economic on water usage + preserve my scalp). Because I have brown hair, I tone the white of the flour down with some rhassoul (for black hair, it can be done with charcoal powder, and cinnamon for red hair). I also like to live tiny and am currently in the process of getting rid of anything I have no proper use for, so yeah, multi-purpose goods are 10/10 for me!
L❤VE clip in flowers 🌸🌼🌸🏵🌸 😍 I wear them nearly Every Day! And yours look great! And if you think that's "over the top" you oughta see what I wear, nearly daily! I love it and get lots of compliments. Keep on looking 😍 SisStar!
I'm going to a folk music festival tomorrow, I'm going to try and do that last one for it, I wasn't sure if I should braid it or wear it down and that seems like the perfect compromise (my hairs not as long as yours but it's long enough that I sit on it when it's down 😂)
I can't believe that my hair just isn't long enough. It's past the small of my back and it almost reaches my waist. But when I tried to do this hairstyle which I thought was really easy, it turned out my hair just wasn't long enough to pass over my head and through the loop in the braid. Maybe in a year.
Beautiful, creative and very unique, as usual. All your videos are inspiring, entertaining and funny as well. I really enjoyed this one... have a nice day 🥰🌻❤
I used to wear wrap skirts in many, many different ways, then I gained weight and it got harder. Now I am losing some of that, it'll be fun to play again and see what works this time around!
I like to take my super long braids and I double them up using a ribbon to wrap them together. For me I keep finding more and more potential in pin curls with my hair. Its just around my bum, and I keep finding that pin curls, fingerwaves look so pretty on super long hair with some flax seed gel. And you can use them in so many ways.
A hairstyle that I am constantly finding new use for are curly bangs. I have 3a/3b curly hair and I keep the hair from ear to ear about a cm back cut short. I cut it to an inch or an inch and a half across my face so I can have some delicate whispy hairs in the front. It puts me in mind of regency era bangs, but all together I think it makes any hairstyle look 10x more romantic without committing to a complicated, thick, layered band look.
This hairstyle reminds me of the Queen Calanthe hairstyle you did a tutorial on an while back. I love that one and have done a ton of variations on it, but I can never get the front sections to stay put for long (and I refuse to start using hairspray). I'll definitly play around with this one too. Oh and by the way, those dog ear loops are called "Affenschaukeln" (meaning monkey swings) in german. They were pretty popular when my granny was a kid and the girls would ware them variing in length from right around the ears all the way down to touching the shoulders.
So glad I found your channel while looking for apron tutorials! 😍🥰 My hair is only to my waist so far, but I’m always looking for new ways to style it.
Thank you for another wonderful hairstyle Anna! I can't wait to try this one. I'm not sure if my hair is long enough for it (it's only hip length) but I'm going to give it a go.
I LOVE faking shorter hair to add variation! I have long hair too and I love to mix it up sometimes cause i could never cut it short I love it too much
New subscriber here. I love your style. I have flowers, hair barrettes, etc, but was shy to use them. Now, I’m going to have fun with my long, thick wavy salt and pepper hair. ❤
Cool! I’m definitely going to give this a go, my hair is just butt length and extremely fine, so I’m curious to see how it works out. I also find having my hair down, braided or not, bothersome, so it’s usually up in some fashion.
Lovely! My hair is only shoulder length, but you have inspired me to play with it. Now my bathroom counter is littered with combs, clips, ribbons, scarves, pins, flowers ... I am a Pretty Shepherd!! Thank you!!
love love love your variations! I also braid the back part of the english braid when I do two braids first, I find it looks nicer from the front when the front strand is added last. definitely going to try these!
I feel like id want to do some sort of sailor moon bun variation plus this to get even more hair up or maybe even go over the head again and put it through the back gap and secure that with a bow near the ears!

Oh wow! How versatile! I had no idea you could eat the seeds! (I mean... I don't know why you wouldn't be able to 😅🙈) Thanks for sharing! ☺️
This sounds amazing! Thank you for the inspiration, I was totally clueless! ♡
That sound terrifying!! 😱 I’m so glad you could pull your hair out easily enough
...ow! That's what nightmares are made of...oof!
@@francinem4944 I heard that Isadora Duncan died when her long scarf got caught in a car tire.
Yes...... the return of spring forest flower fairy farting on your head!! I still maintain that this is the best and most completely epic line, the best thing I've ever heard!! 🥰💐🌸🌺🌹⚘🌻🌷🌾💐😘💋❤
Hahaha! Thank you! My job here is done 😎✨😆
@@PrettyShepherd by no means, you must keep the flower fairy work up sweetie! Lots of love from the UK💐❤💐
Love you videos. I am growing out my hair (mid back after curls dry, waist when wet)and these styles look great for protecting my braids and ends. Thanks so much.❤️
The prettiest funniest realest shepherd youtuber!!! So enjoy your vids Pretty Shep!!! You inspire me to wrap my braids around my neck for braiding!!!! And love the spring forest fairies' gas effect!!! Tysm
I like ur hairstyle really it's fantastic 😀🙏
I'm currently learning how to minimize my pots and pans to a couple of woks. It's amazing how many things you can make in a wok, both traditional and non traditional dishes. I have the standard carbon steel wok and a stainless steel wok for acidic dishes or dishes that involve a lot of boiling. So far I've been able to do everything I can with my other pots and pans with the exception of baking.
I love these so much! My hair is almost to Classic & I have a tender scalp, maybe this could be another comfortable variant to the crown braid. 💖🌹
Wow your hairstyles are so pretty and creative! And your grey hair looks amazing with your style. I also love your dress, it looks a lot like our traditional Austrian Dirndl!
It is a dirndl! My mother thrifted it and it's the perfect size for me too! ☺️✨
I was never able to do a bun with elastics (too thick). I finally had luck with hairsticks.
Ditto for celery salt! It makes things super delicious without having to find a way to store a giant bunch of celery in a small fridge
@@katelynpatterns9611 I’ll have to try that!
Omigosh! Sounds like a real condiment epiphany! I'll have to look into that! ❤️🧄
Love the 7:20 Quote! Yes!!!! And I do look like a Spring Forest Queen 🌸🌼🌸🦋🏵🐞🌸🍄🐦 Soooo Happy I found you! Thanks SisStar 🌟
My multiple use thing is lace. I love it as a hairband or as a hair tie in tie end of a braid or as choker
OMG I thought there were no cute hairstyle videos for waist length hair + on youtube...they are so hard to find for some reason!! you are the first I have found with such innovative and cute styles!!! GENIUS
I love my hair stick,, forks, and moons. So many fun ways to put my hair up with them.
This is the prettiest solution I‘ve seen so far , genius !
Absolutely history bounding !
For me it‘s abundance & exuberance !
Artsy !
Oh yes! Sounds very versatile! I might get myself a few extra ones too - all of mine are already "busy" holding items 😄
I sewed a long sleeveless dress which I use for everything. For fancier events with some nice jewelry, for everyday with a cropped top above or a long sleeved top belob it or with the top folded down as skirt.
The over the top version made my jaw drop, it's so gorgeous!!!
You are so adorable! Your content always makes me smile. Accessories are life, lol!
What a clever idea!💡 (All of them!) I especially love all the flowers & bows. I must get some more of them!
Thank you! How you'll have lots of fun dressing up your own hair✨🌺
How very versatile! ✨❄️
I have a love for scarves of various colors but usually they are primarily rectangular in shape.
Excited to try new styles
Now I see why my braids look weird sometimes. I was reversing the sections. Definitely going to try this style!
Haha! It took me a while to realise this too! 😆 and even after I realised, I kept on forgetting to do it right when I took the strands in my hands 🙈
@@PrettyShepherd Some things are imprinted in our cells. I can’t look in the mirror when I braid. I always mess it up. Plus I’m left handed. Things get confusing 😂😂
Clip in flowers are wonderful!
I’m so happy to learn more ways to adorn my hair with flowers and bows like you just showed us! Beautiful!💗🌹💕💕
I would love to try this with fishtail braids!
This video has given me so many ideas for styles to try with my waist length hair.
Sounds gorgeous! ☺️❤️✨
Keep on looking 😍 SisStar!
im FLOORED by your styles!!! thank you so much for sharing im gonna try!!!! subscribing right away!!!!!!!
I'm going to a folk music festival tomorrow, I'm going to try and do that last one for it, I wasn't sure if I should braid it or wear it down and that seems like the perfect compromise (my hairs not as long as yours but it's long enough that I sit on it when it's down 😂)
Yes! It's the best of both worlds! 🙌🏻✨
I really enjoyed this one... have a nice day 🥰🌻❤
One hairstyle I always find new ways to maximize is a simple doughnut bun. I have added so many cool flowers to it lately and dressed it up!
Thanks to you and TORRIN, I can’t get enough of flowers being farted on my head! It is so fun to play around with those!😂❤
I used to wear wrap skirts in many, many different ways, then I gained weight and it got harder. Now I am losing some of that, it'll be fun to play again and see what works this time around!
The last one was great! Needed it in my life!!!
I can't wait to try that braided style! My hair is not as long as yours, but just down to my waist.
Oooo that one on the right! Can't wait!
I love the bizarre explanation of the need of our heads needing ribbons!!!!
7:13 wait, stop ! That's a hairstyle, that's cute
Like the queen from snow white and the huntsman crown
Haha! You're absolutely right! 😆
So pretty. I have a pixie cut now, but it's fun to watch you decorate your hair. Thanks for sharing :)
My hair only reaches past my collar bones, I will try the braids over my head today ☺️ you inspire me to grow out my hair longer!
Sounds like something I should totally look into! Thanks! 🌿
You have the best har vids for super long hair!
Love the dirndl, too!
Thank you for another wonderful hairstyle Anna! I can't wait to try this one. I'm not sure if my hair is long enough for it (it's only hip length) but I'm going to give it a go.
I LOVE faking shorter hair to add variation! I have long hair too and I love to mix it up sometimes cause i could never cut it short I love it too much
Your hair is so pretty. I cut my hair a few years back and I regret it so much because my hair used to be so long and fun.
Oh my God, your energy is so awesome!!
My hair is close to waist length, so not really long enough for this style. But this video is another motivator to keep growing it out!
Mine is to my hips, but same boat. Dreaming big!
You could still do the basic version, your just end up with really teeny cute braids (around apl or so) instead of classic!
@@MrsBrit1 I actually did try it later that day and yes, it did look cute :D
Love your style, mine is Laura Ashley love the Victorianstyle🤗🥰❤
You have the best hair accessories I have ever seen! :)
I've gotta try this!! I have knee length hair but not much volume. I might try this and pull the back part up or as a way to shorten my braid.
Ok, it looks awesome on you. Looks kinda weird on me with my non historical folksy clothing
Thank u for the tips and tricks. I will definitely try them out.
also tips and tricks - russian spindle = darn good hairstick
I definitely keep finding variations for vintage turban/scarf styles!
Oh yess! They can be so fabulous! ✨🙌🏻
I love your outfit!!
Lovely! My hair is only shoulder length, but you have inspired me to play with it. Now my bathroom counter is littered with combs, clips, ribbons, scarves, pins, flowers ... I am a Pretty Shepherd!! Thank you!!
Yess! 🙌🏻✨🌺🎀💝 Sounds like success!
love love love your variations! I also braid the back part of the english braid when I do two braids first, I find it looks nicer from the front when the front strand is added last. definitely going to try these!
I love your videos! I have floor length hair and have never thought to do this, genius! I've been living the #bunlife
Hello! Something that I use that serves multiple purposes is shea butter 💛💛🌻
I feel lik cant do anything cute with my long hair. Thx for the ideas!
I feel the struggle! 🙈
These are lovely styles! I'm gonna give em a go!
Cute and lively as always
Super easy! Barely an inconvenience!!
So cute! I just gave the hairstyle a try, but alas, my hair isn't quite long enough.
I love it already!!
I really love your hair! I keep trying to grow mine and keep it healthy but it seems stuck at the length that it is.
Not really a life hack but cassia makes my hair so shiny oh my god i definitely recommend it
I feel like id want to do some sort of sailor moon bun variation plus this to get even more hair up or maybe even go over the head again and put it through the back gap and secure that with a bow near the ears!
Oh wow! That sounds absolutely adorable! 🙌🏻✨ might try it one day! 😁
Such a cute hair style, really lovely. You are lovely....i think I have a crush on you.... don't tell my boyfriend!😂🤣😂 so glad to see you and your funny, flowery, fairy like ways. Lots of love from Surrey, England 😘💋❤
