the tubes should be in the country western music hall of fame , just for this awesome cover of Marty Robbins song El Paso

I believe that's Vince Welnick you see there on keyboards. Welnick was the last keyboardist of the Grateful Dead, and El Paso was a standard for them since around 1970.

most definitely Vince Welnick was a regular Dead Head...and played some classic C&W,Mariachi flavored tunes as well...very underrated keyboardist!

Nice one! Fee's in good voice and I love hearing Fee and Bill singing together. Something special about the blended quality of their respective voices.

I love this so much. I wish that I could've been at this show. Please, Please, Please, Please release a dvd collection box set of your shows in chronological order, write a book, have a book tour, build or buy an archival museum/venue and set up a residency in Vegas and we will flock to you.

It's over. The Tubes are especially over, when Waybill declared Foo Fighters as his favourite new band. Bllleecchhh!!!

I saw this show in 1975 in nearby Southampton, UK. There was a heck of a clamour outside the stage door afterwards, but Fee and everyone kindly joked with us and signed autographs. They were a fantastic group.

The guitar harmonies between Bill and Roger is perfection and seeing Re look so wonderful is just great. And Prairie's "death rim shot" hits the spot lol. Hey, y'know, the guys are looking very grown up compared to the 1974 and earlier vid's. Bill is looking so hot!

I can see it now. With Fee being such a child of the Eisenhower 50's and the rise of television. He must of been about 9 or 10 when Marty sung this song on tv hundreds of times. Each time embedding its self deeper into Fees head each time. I'd bet he'd sung this song in the mirror in the hallway for years! Here he's just living the dream.

Gotta love the Tubes. Great band... No Rock band back then would've covered a Marty Robbins song! It was several years later when Social Distortion (another Great Band) followed suit and covered Ring of Fire. But then again, the Tubes (back in the day) were never a top 40 band until late in the 80's. Still... cool band. Dig em!

Seriously? The Grateful Dead had been doing since the very VERY early '70's (if not the late '60's).

It was circa spring 1975 out here in the northeast at college . really to early to go to college after getting nearly chemically tortured to death by a mother fucking stupid and evil shrink in a mental health unit for just a non violent nervous breakdown . had my headphones on , listening to the Indy alternative station and i hear White Punks on Dope . really rocked . after that decaded gone by , did all kinds of jobs including freelance photographer. been on disability and retired for awhile . Then i find the Tubes New eve Years Concert , 12.31.75 rIcha here on utube . I was so entertained by the skits, Fee's many personas, Bill Sputnik Spooner being perfect second to Fee. I always go back to the tubes of the 1970s to be entertained and lift my spirits . they made a lot more money in the early 80s but they became too commercial for me

Wow I stumbled across this a year ago while drinking & made a stupid comment while drunk. Uh anyway I can’t help but wonder what Marty Robbins thought of this version? This is just speculation but if I had to guess he likely did not love it.
