Once again you guys nail it😀 Whisky talk that is actually about whisky is rare these days.
We do appreciate that. It was the main point of starting the channel. Some topics are boring/annoying, but important, and eventually I hope I can get to a point of celebrating all the wonderful things happening in the Scotch landscape today.
Well done gentlemen. I look forward to part two. Can't wait for the kilchoman discussion.
Kilchomen will be an interesting one, as it was a shooting star for most of 2023 and then dampened things slightly with the pricing on the 16 year old. Generally, however, both of our views on their products are positive.
@WhiskyUncorked The price for the 16 is steep. I understand the nature of its limited status, but $300 is way above the norm for whisky this age. Sadly, I'll probably pay it if I stumble across, but I won't seek it out. The sad truth from a Kilchoman fan boy.....
@@aqb5118I’m there with you. There are certain things that you just need to experience yourself so you can settle your brain. Many times I have bought things with the sole motivation of I don’t want to wonder anymore…I need to know. Bourbon especially…
@WhiskyUncorked Here's a little intelligence for your Kilchoman discussion. My local Wichita, KS whisky shop has two bottles of the 16. I was lucky enough to have a discussion with the distributor rep who was in the store at the time of my visit. I completely understand the $300 price now. Only 5000 bottles were produced by kilchoman. It's a very limited release & difficult to find. I could have purchased both, but I passed on them. It was too expensive for my wallet to absorb....it wasn't easy.... no regrets.
@@aqb5118 Thanks for the info! We recorded part 3 last Sunday and it should go live on Friday again. I think we had a good discussion on Kilchomen in general, and we basically came to the same conclusion that there is a reason it is that expensive, and we were comfortable passing on it for now until it comes in line (*hopefully) with other options.
Great content. Love that this provides a peak into what you personally like, which will help me understand how I may like what you are reviewing. Of the 31-40, I have only tried Bowmore and Dornoch. The Old Pultney 18 is on my list, but after this review, I will also be adding a Tomatin to my wish list. Cheers!
BTW, the Dornoch I list is the TB Blends. So, the only one from a distillery on the list is Bowmore and it is an OB way in the back of my cabinet collecting dust.
Thanks for the feedback! I think these were useful for me to get my preferences and thoughts out there in bulk. Although I am sure they will have changed by next month. Cheers!
One of these days I will buy an official Bowmore to confirm for myself how good/bad they are. As a whisky enthusiast I was happy to avoid them based on the community opinion, but with a channel I would prefer to speak based on my own experiences. This means buying some bottles I know I might not love...
Dornoch released their first whisky in late 2020. There have been almost 70 single casks although most of them are small octave barrels.
Wow, I am surprised it has been so many! I knew they were small barrels for the most part. Do you know if they have all been through ballots on their website? I know they did a couple festival releases as well. I suppose you can probably get some at the castle itself as well.
