The most frustrating thing about playing against Darius, is that he's such a bully to most melee top laners that you are forced to sit back and I disagree with your point that it's okay to sit back in top lane, because if you do that as a top laner you may as well roll dice on whether your team wins that game or not because you're not influencing it at all. For Kayle specifically, sure it could be okay because of insane exp scaling, but for the rest - good luck. Most of the meta picks go pretty good into Darius (Renekton, Riven, Kennen, Jayce, Jax etc). But if you're a non-meta player like me, this sucks ass. Because no one destroys a weaker laner harder than a Darius. He limits the champion pool by a lot. There's a reason he's so widely banned, even in Plat he's a regular ban. He has counter play, but a competent Darius player can easily overcome the things you talk about. Darius can apprehend straight into Q, almost guaranteeing the heal. If you're trying to stay on top of him to avoid apprehend and Q, his W slow is hard enough that he can get an easy apprehend into Q and your back to square one. If you use your CC to try and end trades early, like you mentioned Orn, he has to dash into Darius to get his main CC off, leaving him vulnerable to apprehend reengage. His brittle strikes don't knock back enough to avoid an apprehend reengage either. Orn doesn't win because of his CC, he wins because of his poke with Q. Most champions with hard CC top lane that can also get out of range of Darius like you described are funnily enough the exact list of meta picks in top lane. This isn't a guide to how to beat Darius with any champion, this is how to beat him with specific champions. He's not stated as OP and needing a nerf because he has a high or low winrate; it's because he chokes out the champion pool and forces you to play specific champions or flip a coin.
At least Darius has a weapon in contrary to a lot of toplaners. Sett has to fight barehanded, Jax doesn't have a real weapon unless he uses the gladiator skin and Camille can only kick you over and over doing her best not to trip on the ground(how is she even walking with these blades :O).
Idk but sometimes all Darius needs are Auto Attacks and Lethal Tempo. Not saying hes broken but its really frustrating when you dodge ALL his abilities and he still Autos you to death.
Renek's E is perfect for short trades against Darius. I usually preactivate W, then go E (always through minions), Stun, Q, E Back. Darius won't have time to apply a single stack on you.
I am a 1.2 million Darius main and my recipe for beating him is Mord. I don't play aggro early levels. Like Rhoku said- you don't have to beat him instantly. I play like a pussy level 1 and 2 and at level 3 and especially level 4 and 5 and chunk Darius with E Q or just Q. If he gets pissed and misses an E or Q and I have poked him I can take the all in because I can flash his Q if need be and my shield will give me a decent chunk of hp. Once I have seekers and some components for Riftmaker I can duel him and as long as he doesn't cancel my W with his E(so I can't cast it) and then dunks me, I can win. I match his R every time and usually start shitting on him. If I am ahead I don't need to waste my death realm on him- I can save it for the mid or adc force them to buy QSS or by the time they do we just win/ And it's not Darius can always kite you-your Passive gives you ms. The arena in your ult is small enough. He doesn't have 50 dashes. Yes if I get camped(because some Darius' need their jg to hold their hand things might get rought but statistically you will lose about 30 percent of your games so losing once to Darius because his team camped him and your allies lost anyway is just one of those games where you say gg

I'm learning Top lane, and I only play Shen Darius is one of his worst matchups, I don't get how I can beat him I can't apply your tips like "use your cc" or "use your mobility" because both of them are my E, my engage/disengage tool, and it has a long cooldown I can't do short trades like Q grasp and E away, he will just slow me with his W then grab me then proc his passive and I lose the trade very hard if that doesn't one-shot me; even if I succeed, he will heal to full by Qing the wave What can I do?
Its kinda tough for Shen to beat Darius. You basically have until the first back or level 6 to get a kill otherwise he just straight up beats you since you cannot do anything vs his ghost. Early on, abuse sword positioning, short empowered aas here and there, using your shield to block damage, etc. in order to edge him out in trades and then go for a kill with ignite. It also helps to dash into his Q to not let him land it. If the Darius does E>Q, then you can just disengage instead of continue the trade or even go in if you have ignite. Just eyeball it for the moment. You can always taunt him under turret or into a big minion wave when hes low hp or something for easier kills. None of these are consistent but this is a losing matchup so you kinda have to trick him to get kills. But honestly playing to win this lane in the traditional sense as Shen is kinda pointless (no offense of course). You are playing against a champ with some of the slowest roams and ganks in the entire game. He legit cannot match a fraction of anything you can do on the map. All you have to do is make sure ur backline leaves lane fed and to not die to him by getting used to disengaging from him instead of fighting him. Once you kinda get it into your system to just play it safe, give him his space and impact the map in other places, you should be set to have your team win the game. This might be harder to do in suuuper low ranks but such is the disadvantage of playing a team supporting champ when a team does not exist so to speak.
Well it depends, when i want to pratice i hate Darius cuz you cant improve playing against it, but when i in psycopath mode i just pick Illaoi and keep killing him, too bad i will never be able to pick Jax, Irelia, cuz i know if i ban a Ranged Champion instead of Darius i will just face one without my Illaoi and smash my monitor
standing around and farming is the easiest way to lose in low elo. 0 impact early and your botlane is 3/17 and playing solo my jungler doesnt listen to shit. also if you blind pick a champ like garen none of this is helpful
Low elo player here, and yes I indeed have struggles against Darius. But I know it's not because he's op or anything, I know the problem comes from me. I'm dumb af against him. Even with all the knowledge on how to beat him, I'm not able to beat him. I just can't apply the theory in practice unfortunately... But I like to fight a lot so that certainly doesn't help my case lol
Some of this may apply in gold+, but this still doesnt fix anything for below gold soloQ "just outscale" - no way to farm on a lane with him being there, most of the time someone from my team will die to darius anyways. Even if I manage to outfarm him assuming he didnt get any kills he can just shove wave and go do herald solo without a problem, get easy platings = outscale me. In general I can say that I have never ever seen a Darius fall off because of bad scaling. "just jungle him" - okay: jungler goes on lane, darius goes ghost and is gone. Or even better in low elo: Darius is low, jungle comes, Q-E-W my jungler is stuck under tower and dies to him. "just quicktrade" - okay, go for a quick trade into melee range, eat W, try to flash out (or Shen E or whatever) get E'd back into the fight. There is no way, even as someone thats midrange to not all in darius because he will just run up to you and turn it into an all in. "just play ranged" - okay, I go ranged. Now my team doesnt have a tank. Nice. Assuming my jungle, mid or support went tank (not happening, its kayn, yasuo and lux as always) and I picked ranged for the fuck of it, darius can still all in me with ease with flash and ghost + his E and W. But lets even assume that doesnt happen and I win laning phase 1/0/0 with 20cs lead. This is not getting me out of bronze? Meanwhile I will have for example mid lane completely inting or being AFK and the other lanes being like 2/2/2, this is not a way to win against darius top most of the time "just be mobile" - oh yeah, I am just going to dodge his E (impossible) and dodge his W (literal point and click). How am I supposed to win that? Lets even assume I am playing a very mobile champion (Kamille for example) what now? Not that I am going to win a 1v1 against him or anything even near that, yes I can farm the entire time but even then without perfect wave management I wont be able to do this for long. Spoiler: I do not have perfect wave management since I am stuck below Gold. "just dodge his hook" - hitting his E isnt even required for him to do an easy solokill, and by the way how the fuck am I supposed to dodge and attack at the same time? Okay, even if I am not attacking, W - Q - E. "just CC him after trading" - just not possible. He will be the one engaging the fight (farm and wave advantage), I will try to run away but just not make it. Also, most valid toplaners do not even have the quick CC required to do this. "just ignite" yeah, for what? One good trade every 5 mins? Not like thats gonna save my lane or something. TLDR; **DARIUS IS LOW ELO HORROR AND AN UNPLAYABLE MATCHUP FOR SUB GOLD TOPLANERS. WHATEVER YOU DO, HE WINS. DODGE.**
I was going to type a respose to every single one of your points but you are the type of guy who was decided on Darius being unbeatable in low elo no matter what so there is no point in talking to you. You should really change your attitude because your stubbornness is standing in your own way. Just as a fun fact, Darius' best winrate is actually in high gold-low diamond. Not super low elo.

Darius kit is strong madman who need to chase enemy team and get kited in teamfight and gets cc and die very fast even he's go full tank. Even if you killing darius 1v2 on ganks he will try to turn arround and get 5 stacks you can literally walks back from fight and leave his stacks because he is immobile squishy bruiser.

Darius is broken heres why : if he doesnt make too many mistakes or falls behind he will never ever lose a 1v1. He will zone u off minions and will get ahead.

Darius is good against melee champs and bad positioning and bad kitting range champ players.. learn GP or Teemo good, and how to position and space him out and u will wreck him.. also there is a lot of melee champs who wreck him late game.. so don't fight him early unless ur a Riven god or Rengar too
High Diamond here. I ban darius every single game. And I agree he is broken. The people who are saying he isn't op are just darius mains themselves lol. Just ban him.
I struggle vs darius a lot, not liking this guide at all. You say "he's underpowered" and then your advice is don't fight him, wait for ganks, poke him down, take small trades. Yesterday, as renekton I noticed that when I e in, W, Q, E out, he would do his spin as I E in, or when I E out, and that one move made it an equal trade to my full combo. Anytime I left tower, he ghosts, pulls, murders me in 1 combo. If he gets a gank on you, GG. He win's a single trade, and freezes, and you don't get to farm. Then there's the CC thing, "Just CC him". I remember yasuo players saying this, I'm like how? He windwalls any projectile, can dash as many times as he wants, has CC of his own, and even when you do CC him he has a tank passive that just cancels damage. I'm feeling the same way here, all the things you are saying just avoid the fact that you can never fight him, and if he lands anything, you lose so much health you can't go near the wave. He's so underpowered you beat him by not going anywhere near him, makes perfect sense.
So to sum it up. Darius is not op actually he needs a buff, and you are bad if you think he is good. Also don't listen to anything low elo palyers say. Got it.
Me as a plat still think darius is broken, you can't say stuff about people are low elo when thats 95% of the player in league. so i don't think you will grow out of 100k subs ever with this kind of atitude
darius is pretty easy to lane against. just respect his Q and E range. when he wastes them that's your opportunity to kill him I usually pick tryndamere into darius because I can E into his Q and W him to slow him. plus Trynda R counters his R
lmao good luck doing that against one who's competent. Pretty much any good darius will never lead a trade with their E or Q, rather they'll open with their W and save their E to cancel a mobility spell or to set up their Q/R

Lets be honest Darius is the weakest champion in the game by far who doesn't scale at all and the landing fase is pretty bad against most of the champions especially ranged. This champion is worse late game even than Aatrox🙂
actually darius can be pretty monstrous if he gets ahead and just snaps everyone with his ult in teamfights... but then again, you need to win your lane hard, and there lies a key problem he is not a strongest toplaner anymore, getting completely outshined by bruisers

what if you are playing a champion without range mobility or cc. Like Gwen. It seems impossible to do anything.
If you wait till level 6 and get a good all in with ult + ignite you can oneshot darius.

Yes but that's moreso on lethal being broken af then darius. Look at Yone or jax. They legit break the game with that keystone.

As a Teemo player I auto-cancel to bait out his E. Matchup was unplayable, several really, when bruisers had a dash item.

"just CC him after trading" - just not possible. He will be the one engaging the fight (farm and wave advantage), I will try to run away but just not make it. Also, most valid toplaners do not even have the quick CC required to do this.
"just ignite" yeah, for what? One good trade every 5 mins? Not like thats gonna save my lane or something.

I was going to type a respose to every single one of your points but you are the type of guy who was decided on Darius being unbeatable in low elo no matter what so there is no point in talking to you. You should really change your attitude because your stubbornness is standing in your own way.
Just as a fun fact, Darius' best winrate is actually in high gold-low diamond. Not super low elo.

Darius kit is strong madman who need to chase enemy team and get kited in teamfight and gets cc and die very fast even he's go full tank. Even if you killing darius 1v2 on ganks he will try to turn arround and get 5 stacks you can literally walks back from fight and leave his stacks because he is immobile squishy bruiser.

Darius is broken heres why : if he doesnt make too many mistakes or falls behind he will never ever lose a 1v1. He will zone u off minions and will get ahead.

Darius is good against melee champs and bad positioning and bad kitting range champ players.. learn GP or Teemo good, and how to position and space him out and u will wreck him.. also there is a lot of melee champs who wreck him late game.. so don't fight him early unless ur a Riven god or Rengar too

I struggle vs darius a lot, not liking this guide at all. You say "he's underpowered" and then your advice is don't fight him, wait for ganks, poke him down, take small trades. Yesterday, as renekton I noticed that when I e in, W, Q, E out, he would do his spin as I E in, or when I E out, and that one move made it an equal trade to my full combo. Anytime I left tower, he ghosts, pulls, murders me in 1 combo. If he gets a gank on you, GG. He win's a single trade, and freezes, and you don't get to farm. Then there's the CC thing, "Just CC him". I remember yasuo players saying this, I'm like how? He windwalls any projectile, can dash as many times as he wants, has CC of his own, and even when you do CC him he has a tank passive that just cancels damage. I'm feeling the same way here, all the things you are saying just avoid the fact that you can never fight him, and if he lands anything, you lose so much health you can't go near the wave. He's so underpowered you beat him by not going anywhere near him, makes perfect sense.
So to sum it up. Darius is not op actually he needs a buff, and you are bad if you think he is good. Also don't listen to anything low elo palyers say. Got it.

just respect his Q and E range. when he wastes them that's your opportunity to kill him
I usually pick tryndamere into darius because I can E into his Q and W him to slow him. plus Trynda R counters his R
lmao good luck doing that against one who's competent. Pretty much any good darius will never lead a trade with their E or Q, rather they'll open with their W and save their E to cancel a mobility spell or to set up their Q/R

Lets be honest Darius is the weakest champion in the game by far who doesn't scale at all and the landing fase is pretty bad against most of the champions especially ranged. This champion is worse late game even than Aatrox🙂
actually darius can be pretty monstrous if he gets ahead and just snaps everyone with his ult in teamfights... but then again, you need to win your lane hard, and there lies a key problem he is not a strongest toplaner anymore, getting completely outshined by bruisers
