Craftmanship of these old homes should be preserved instead of torn down for cheap houses that aren't ever going to be worth 1/8th of what these old homes are made of. Years ago, craftsmanship in America was class and built to withstand the tests of time. Today, not so much. Thanks again Kap for a great video of a once grand old family home.
Did you ever notice the highway noise, in comparison of the horse & bugy age to the grand entrance to the estate. And a tip of the hat, fro Cappy learning architecture terms.
We have to keep in mind that the past is the past. Back when people had 7 to 12 children, they needed a large home if they had the means to build it. Our homes we build today are for our needs and/or luxury if we have money. But they are no more than that. I don't think any home is build to burden posterity with. Needs/taste/personalities/society changes with each generation and it is a burden on a family to hang on to something that has outlived its purpose. Even the castles of the old country were not built to last forever. They lasted because they were necessary fortification from invading armies or rival clans. Beautiful explore. I always enjoy your "last minute" look at houses on their last legs. You briefly breathe life through the walls and spaces.
That is true!! My mom was the last of 11 children and the house grandpa and grandma lived in was a very big Victorian. When the children were gone the upstairs was turned into an apartment and they lived on the main floor. It has long been gone now but I miss being there
This neglected beauty deserved so much better! Such a spacious, wonderfully detailed home. I feel so sorry for her. Thank you, Kappy. These old houses have a friend in you!
I am same way ,I think or assume no one wants to try to spend the time and amount of money it would take to restore or Rehab this big house since no one knows how long it's been abandoned and how much rotting or hiding damage there is ,wish some one would rehab it but no telling if it would be cost effect to or tear it down
@@chrismarkes5488 surprising how callous some can be. The men who built that house took pride in their work. Not like the trash we buy today. I say regard the old & out with the new!
Sadly will probably end up torn down as well! Whole area of maryland was being heavily developed! Shocked this place was still around! Thanks for watching! :)
What a magnificent home! I hope it knew a lot of love and laughter. Compare it to the $500K to $700K shacks that are all garage seen today-ugh! Around here, they bulldoze out woods and habitat to build those characterless things. Sigh...Thanks. Kappy, hi Ruby! Wonderful, as always.
Sadly that will probably be the end fate of this house! Whole area was being built up with subdivisions! House is probably in its final days! Thanks for watching! :)
Such a grand home! A large family must have lived here initially. The woodwork is beautiful! Thanks Kappy! The homes you bring us are so amazing!! I wish we could see what these homes looked like back in the day compared to today. Can’t wait for the next beautiful find! Stay safe Kappy!
What a shame, what a beautiful house it must have been. Makes me sad to see places like that, but I also do like the urban exploration videos. Except the wood, everything else is in a lot better condition than I have seen in a lot of other buildings here, brickwork seems fine. Still a place you could revive.
Your camera work is great...I get motion sick watching some of the other explorers! I also like that you appreciate the workmanship of these old houses.
It looks like the fireplaces were redone at some point. The hallway by the front stairs seemed very narrow. Kitchen was small. To me this is a strange house. Maybe it's the way someone try redoing it. Thanks for the visit.
Thanks Kappy, I really like this house, I think it cost a lot to build, not many houses have a basement under the porch! That's a lot of work for sure! Some really nice woodwork as well, I hope this house gets saved.
I hope it’s saved as well but developments popping up all around doesn’t look good for the house sadly! Been empty for over 20 years now! Thanks for watching! :)
Aw, this one left me feeling quite nostalgic. I grew up in a very similar 2 3/4 story Victorian farmhouse. It was smaller than this one, but the woodwork and architectural details were very similar. You made me feel like a kid again! 😊
What beautiful, beautiful woodwork - I think that's why the house feels so warm, welcoming. It's not hard to imagine what this place looked like in it's grand old days!! Thank you Kappy.
I love old houses, the craftsmanship is beautiful. To bad they cant be restored. History for sure. I would love to know if walls could talk what they would say! 👍😘
Love, hate, romance, childbirth, family drama, all the emotions of the ones who lived and loved in this house. You are making sure it is not forgotten.
I don't understand why people leave such a beautiful place,it should have been kept up ,the columns, that beautiful porch ,balcony, windows I love the whole thing.I can imagine how beautiful it was.Sad now unless someone else has the means and sees what could be again.👍❤️
Thx 4 sharing. Luvd this place. It was beautiful in its day. So many rooms. Never understood why family members dont step up & take care of places. Maybe no one is left. Great explore Much luv Carry on
Kappy, you mentioned the house has a warm and inviting feel to it and I too felt that earlier, while you were downstairs and I even invisioned children living there in their loving home...
Kappy, that was a truly an extraordinary home, and the quality of the woodworking was so superb that it lent that air of warmth to the home that you felt and sensed. As someone who has designed and built furniture and tables for homes made out of Teak and Oak I know exactly how you felt, because I felt it just by watching. Man Kappy, that house was one of my all time favorites of all the homes you have wisely chosen to share with us, but also distressing. Seriously, you have exquisite taste in homes, know them inside and out, and all the various styles that are lost on me. Kappy you are so gifted in what you create it is an honor and a pleasure to tune in every week. Thank you so much Kappy, and have a Great Week!
That is too kind of you too say! Really appreciate that! Makes it all worthwhile knowing others enjoy too see these old Forgotten places as well! Thank you very much!! :)
Oh wow! If walls could talk there would be plenty of wonderful stories to tell. The woodwork and wall paper still tell theirs while others not so much. It boggles my mind how something can be on the national register of historic places and left to die. Someone somewhere must know of a computer program where these homes could be brought back to life! That would be so cool! Thanks for this amazing place! ❤️
This home has seriously withstood the test of time. Still standing although all the windows are broken, the roof and floors are caving in the house still stands. I love the wall paper in the hall with the butterflies and flowers on it. That Leonard fridge in the basement is from the 40's - 50's Have a great day
This amazing big old house would have been pretty spectacular in it's time, loved all the panelling and pillars. So pleased you didn't fall 8 foot into the basement, we need you to keep safe being the very best explorer on the Tube,❤
That was a well loved, beautiful home with lots of love and good memories. I'm sure the people would be mortified if they could see the deteriorated shape it is in now. But it was there for them and gave them shelter when they needed it.
Kappy..just want to tell you how much I enjoy watching your documentaries...i love how you stick to one type of home and not try to out do all the other explorers..at times I can't believe the lengths you go to some grand but very decayed homes...bringing your viewers the last chance for them to be seen...these older homes show craftsmanship, different styles that are almost forgotten...thank you for all you do!..one of the few explorers I subscribed to...fantasic and "cool" as you often say job well done!
A real beauty indeed. Such a shame the house looks like this. Agree with the fact that it probably won't be standing much longer. Those bedframes were so neat and very old. I think the house is way too far gone to fix up. Enjoyed the tour of this beautiful house, thank you.
What a place! This one was for someone influential. Pictures of it back in the day would have been great to see. So much happiness left behind for mother nature to take back. Thanks for letting me tag along!
This was a glorious home in its early days. I can hear children playing, and imagine Christmas must have been a joy to see. The make over ruined it, those red brick fireplaces were out of place for the time.
THIS is what a house should be! A great house. I see it still had the original push button light switches, probably from the early 1920's when they first ran electricity in the house. Knob and tube wires, that though very old, usually still worked fine. There were so many parts of this that could be rescued and saved and used again. It's such a horrible shame when these houses go down with everything. That upstairs summer porch was great for sleeping on hot summer nights. These old houses of this era had a lot of doors going outside and at least a couple staircases. For everyday use and back then house fires were kinds of common so everyone needed a way out!
I love this house..I cant believe someone would just let it rot.. it still has the old push light switches.....it could be so beautiful again....Thanks for the video
Beautiful old home. Looks like it has Lincrusta on the lower walls in the main hallway. If so this family must have had wealth as Lincrusta wasn’t cheap. It can still be bought today. It’s a shame this house has been so neglected! 😢
This would have been an awesome house to live in. There aren’t many, if any, houses that you say has a warm feeling. That’s cool. I think the open space in the kitchen that looks like a window is to serve food through. The house I grew up in had one. It was also built in the early 1900’s, in Springfield, Illinois.
What a beautiful old house 🏚. They don't make houses like this anymore. It's a shame that someone doesn't restore it. I love the old wood work and the fireplaces. Stay safe 👌 👍 🙏 ❤ 💓
Denise, what is there to restore, it’s too far gone. Why DON’T YOU RESTORE THIS MONSTROSITY, perhaps put your $ where your mouth is? Haha, another big typer, typing out of her azz! Too funny!
Beautiful home. Love the untouched dark wood. A very spacious house. I really liked the silo. Picturesque with the vines tangling around it. This house feels like home.
I bet that someone truly loved that house especially if you had that warm welcome feeling, it's definitely still beautiful in its last years of longevity.
I think this is more recent than the date you mentioned, however a beautiful old home, the fireplace and built ins on the first floor look early craftsman, which would make this home very cutting edge back in the day. The panelling around the walls is magnificent and you’re right, it’s in an amazingly good original condition. There’s definitely a craftsman feel to the design, less elaborate decoration, more stream lined modern woodworking. Great find Kappy, really enjoyed this explore.
Hello there Knappy! GTSY Huskies were a brand of Washington sneakers. I really enjoyed the video, just wish kid's didn't break windows! I like to imagine how this home may have looked 100 years ago.👍😊
I think if I caught someone de-facing a beautiful old home like this I'd have to . . . . . . .better not say it. YT will remove my comment! I bought a house built in the 1880's - we called it a 'mini mansion' As soon as I walked in to it, I got the warm feeling you spoke of. Our minds were made up at the moment, we'd buy it!
Just beautiful… those upstairs closed in porches were called “summer sleepers” in those early times 20-30s Usually used by the man of the house. Men were bigger/thicker/heavier back then. Somewhat closed in for privacy/bugs. As bread winners they received precedence over females for sleeping comfort. Love your videos. Good on your Mom! 👍🏼
Oh poor, tired house. That porch, tho would love to have that. Wish I could have seen this place before the rot went wild. I bet it was fantastic when first built. It's still pretty stylish in design. I don't think there is any saving to it. Thanks, Kappy and you be careful out there
This is my favorite house to date. I agree with your comment about the feeling of the home being inviting or warm. It is such a shame it’s to the point of no return. So sad.
Wow what a cool old house. I always try to imagine how it must have looked full of stuff. It was someone's home, good memories and bad. The husky's I think were work boots, could have been tools also.
Love going back in time with your video ❤ This house must have been so beautiful back in the days so sad to let it die like that. Thanks for the tour !👍 Stay safe ❤🇨🇦
Love the back winding stairs!!!! Also love the winding stairs up to closed off somewhere? . Love that upstairs porch also. Would love to have seen it back in the day!
Wow what a pretty home !! This would have been very nice back in its day so sad to see it like this now ....her fate should not be this such a wonderful old home I am sure was once full of love and laughter . Great video as always Kappy !!
It is maddening at the damage done by vandals and vagrants . Hand carved wood and all the beautiful architectural design in these historical homes is stunning. No quick Built Homes of today will ever be in any comparison to the older homes. Thanks for sharing. Please stay safe. I would love to see these in a book.
Have you ever wondered why people don't take items from these houses. For example, vintage sinks, loose columns, fireplace mantals, anything wood for that matter. Most things will be demolished at some point anyway.
I just think it is awesome of the places you go to. I LOVE THE OLD CHURCH, GENERAL STORE YOU HAVE EXPLORE AND AS A ARTIST IT GIVES ME INSPIRATION TO MY WORK THANK YOU KAPPY😊
This once gorgeous home makes me sooo very sad that it has become this deteriorated😞😰😢 I wish that it had been restored to it’s former glory 👍🙏💕 The natural wood banister’s, windows & window casings, doors & door casings along with the wainscoting was simply priceless 👍💕❤️ While someone had tried to update & remodel it, it could have been done a bit better to restore it’s historical value!!! Sooo very sad to see this beautiful place go😞😢😰 Thank you Kappy for sharing this wonderful adventure with us!!! I truly loved it ❤️💕♥️
Good for you for being brave and going to the basement! You've come a long way.Yes this home gifts a happy vibe like it was once bustling with a Large happy family
Hello Kappy and all you armchair explorers! This is certainly a beautiful house, at least from the exterior! It must have been a stunner in its day. Now, the ravages of time and the weather have done irreparable damage to this old beauty. I just noticed it, but the sound of traffic in the distance creates a strange sort of singing sound. It's pretty spooky. These folks had a lot of books or maybe bric-a-brac, to have so many built-in shelves. I can imagine how it looked back then. I can't remember what that woodwork is called, the little rectangles all around the room. I've seen it on older houses in Great Britain, though. That front hallway is cavernous! I'll bet the wind really roared through there when that big front door swung open. I guess that's why that enormous fireplace was there. Its imposing Craftsman design dominates that corner of the foyer. There is a very strong Craftsman influence in the details of this lovely old house, with its columns and intricate millwork. As this is my favorite architectural style, I am quite taken with the details of this house. I'd have given my eye teeth to have seen this house as it was first constructed! It's the stuff of my dreams. It must have been very grand indeed! Even the back stairs are beautiful! Most large houses of this era had two sets of stairs, not just for the servants to come and go unnoticed, but in case of fire. These houses, constructed almost entirely of wood, burned very quickly, and two sets of stairs helped the occupants of the house to escape. Another set of stairs in the front hallway! That makes me think that the brick portions of this house are additions. I think that cardboard with the Huskies marking was a shoe box which had been smashed flat. Oh, I really like this bright, airy attic! How wonderful it would be to have your bedroom up here in the treetops! That is a very interesting basement! I generally don't like to go into those dark, wet places, but this one is very intriguing, with its separate rooms and assorted cast off possessions. That odd placement of the post is where the beam was failing and bending. It was, no doubt, braced to keep the floor above from falling in. Thanks so much for the explore of this beautiful home, Kappy. It's a crying shame that it couldn't have been saved while there was still time to do it justice. Now, though it may be too late, perhaps a careful salvage team and a skilled restorer might make good use of more interesting pieces before they are destroyed. I agree with you, Kappy, that this house has a nice feeling to it, as if the people who lived here had a happy life. I'm glad. This house deserves to be happy. Another good trip, Kappy. I greatly enjoy going exploring with you and I hope you keep your wonderful videos coming. I tried to find the first video you refer to from 2018, but cannot find it. I must have missed it, as this house is new to me. I'm glad that I routinely save all your videos, so I can go back and rewatch older ones that seem to be gone from your feed. I guess TH-cam won't let you save everything! Take good care of yourself and watch where you step!
hey kappy awesome find u did it again my buddy this would of beeen a beautiful home i loved the antique beddding and the bed as welli liked the basement to coooool and alittle spooky take care man u rock always gratefully deadicated
I loved hearing the crunching of the dried brown leaves as your walking towards the big house! Thanks for showing close ups of the wall paper. This was a very interesting house. Thanks channel!
Another great home Kappy! And bathrooms all over the place. I came in looking 4 a new vid cuz I'm in bed with a cold 🤧. Ur the first place I go 4 great entertaining vids anyway! Stay safe!
😊Awesome showing! Just love all the details you point out. Love the house. Thanks for walking down the back turning staircase 😊 Finally a house without graffiti! Thank you Kappy!!
Love how you go very slowly detailing all the old wallpaper and woodwork details Kap, that window in the kitchen was known as a "butlers server", going through to the dining room in most old homes of the wealthy back in the day. That little staircase that was had the doorway sealed off probably went up to the attic. I wonder why they made a ceiling over it?!
Thanks Kappy. What an elaborate house. The little room with the pass through window was probably a butlers pantry. Even the back stairway was ornate.
Did you ever notice the highway noise, in comparison of the horse & bugy age to the grand entrance to the estate.

Yayyy! A Kappy video😊
Thank you for watching! :)
Can you imagine it all decked out for Christmas? Bet it was quite a sight. Pretty place.
Just beautiful… those upstairs closed in porches were called “summer sleepers” in those early times 20-30s
Usually used by the man of the house. Men were bigger/thicker/heavier back then. Somewhat closed in for privacy/bugs. As bread winners they received precedence over females for sleeping comfort.
Love your videos. Good on your Mom! 👍🏼
At 1:58 it looks like a witch flew through the screen door 😂
True lol! Thank ya for watching! :)
Oh poor, tired house. That porch, tho would love to have that. Wish I could have seen this place before the rot went wild. I bet it was fantastic when first built. It's still pretty stylish in design. I don't think there is any saving to it. Thanks, Kappy and you be careful out there
Well said!! Would’ve loved to have seen this place when was first built and grounds maintained! Thanks for watching! :)
This is my favorite house to date. I agree with your comment about the feeling of the home being inviting or warm. It is such a shame it’s to the point of no return. So sad.
It had to be so elegant and gorgeous back in its day!
Wow what a cool old house. I always try to imagine how it must have looked full of stuff. It was someone's home, good memories and bad. The husky's I think were work boots, could have been tools also.
Such a shame that people build these beautiful homes and then the heirs can't afford to keep them up. Now there is no saving this one.
Love going back in time with your video ❤ This house must have been so beautiful back in the days so sad to let it die like that. Thanks for the tour !👍 Stay safe ❤🇨🇦
Love your videos Kappy...never miss one! Thanku youngin!
Cool place. Pretty much down hill from here. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Sad but true! Wish the house had a brighter looking future! Thank you for watching!! :)
What a great find so sad it couldn’t be saved stay safe and thank you for sharing
Nature has it now.
It is unusual to still have unpainted woodwork. Lovely grand old home destined for the wrecking ball. What a shame.
Vandalism it usually means teenagers live close by because they are the sort that does them things.
I just think it is awesome of the places you go to. I LOVE THE OLD CHURCH, GENERAL STORE YOU HAVE EXPLORE AND AS A ARTIST IT GIVES ME INSPIRATION TO MY WORK THANK YOU KAPPY😊
I love the downstairs in this house. I wonder what it looked like years ago?
Agreed! Was a huge basement! Shocked me honestly! Especially being under the whole porch!
What a big beautiful house. I bet it was gorgeous in his day. Imagine the stories it could tell. ❤
Wow that place must have been awesome in it's day glad you got to it when you did so sad it was let go
This once gorgeous home makes me sooo very sad that it has become this deteriorated😞😰😢 I wish that it had been restored to it’s former glory 👍🙏💕 The natural wood banister’s, windows & window casings, doors & door casings along with the wainscoting was simply priceless 👍💕❤️ While someone had tried to update & remodel it, it could have been done a bit better to restore it’s historical value!!! Sooo very sad to see this beautiful place go😞😢😰 Thank you Kappy for sharing this wonderful adventure with us!!! I truly loved it ❤️💕♥️
What a grand old place!

@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 Thank u Kappy! B safe out there. Love ur vids, the best!
😊Awesome showing! Just love all the details you point out. Love the house. Thanks for walking down the back turning staircase 😊 Finally a house without graffiti! Thank you Kappy!!
I was shocked no graffiti too! And empty for easily over 20 years! So strange! Thank you very much for watching! :)
What a big beautiful grand old home. So sad it's left to rot. Thanks for showing.
