It's digital foundry though. If you are any year above 10, you may remember Digital foundry being able to 99% predict everything that turned out to be true for all gaming consoles that came out until now
They have delayed the reveal too much. The expectations are going wild and most of them won't be met. Hall effect joycons are wishful thinking. Nintendo will be the last to adapt any expensive technology into their console. I bet the first model will be LCD screen and not even an OLED... Magnets in joycons will be used not to hold them but to activate the locking mechanism only. The magnets won't be active at all times. Personally I don't even want it until the revised OLED version comes out. Who even needs it urgently any more? General consumers wont see the difference between the two if they have similar form factor. PS Portal can stream better games that Switch 2 will do and there are many PC handhelds to compete already on the market.
I just want the buttons and sticks to be bigger. Also, I would love if Nintendo released a joy con with a dpad instead of the layout similar to face buttons. I know it's designed for 2 people playing together while unlocked but it would be inclusive if they designed for people who play alone. I know 3rd party may be do it but I'd rather Nintendo make an official one.
Why make the job easy for devs when you can make it hard right ? Would that external GPU have graphics memory attached to it ? If not, you'll pair a good GPU with 120GB/s bandwidth at best, and if so, you end up with two very distinct RAM pools, kinda bringing us back to the PS3 era level of bs hardware wise
@@ThibautMahringerIf that’s the case, maybe you can only use one pool at once? And they’d probably be mirrored, since the Switch needs to be able to recover gracefully when disconnecting it from the dock
@@AoiShoudou That's what PS3 did, most 3rd party games that didn't took time to optimize for the hardware only used system RAM, 265mb out of 512mb. But for Switch 2, that would make the work extra hard for the devs. You practically have two different systems to make games for, only the CPU remains the same. And that would drastically increase the retail price for us too. Moreover, I have a concern about the latency penalty of making the internal Cortex-A78 seek what it needs from the RAM located in the dock. It's either using two RAM pools at once or, at that point leave the Switch 2 SoC completely inactive when docked and put an ARM based APU directly in the dock, with its own CPU cores. But that makes the dock a console by itself, suddenly the handheld is not needed anymore... It's hard to justify no matter how you cut it... Only the dockable handheld makes sense. Cheaper, easier to work with for devs. The thing that would be welcome in my opinion is a much higher wattage when docked to push every clocks as high as possible, imagine the hardware running at 10W handheld but at like 45 to 50W docked. It would make sense and allow for more power docked for high resolution TVs. Switch is like 6 to 8W handheld and 10 to 15W docked for comparison sake.

They should have given it a second screen and made it compatible with ds / 3ds . That way they have a existing library at launch and new modern games using the 2 screens .
One thing that no one is addressing is that the change in executive management at Nintendo means there will be a slew of first party games for switch 2 that have obvious in app purchases that are more unreasonable than what they have been known to do so far.
as if power ever meant anything, all of the top 4 selling consoles of all time (PS2, Switch, DS, Gameboy) were the weakest in power of their generation. its good if its cheap, especially since the economy is shit right now most places in the world. but yeah, keep being a snob and spending 700$ on a ps5 or 1000$+ on a ps5 pro, or 2000$ on pcs with Nvidia's prices.

Price and finally clock speeds plus gimmick obviously is all really left but either way i cant wait and was thinking with how unoptomised this generation has been so far maybe switch 2 will have more ports then 1 lol? And i wonder if some developers will see switch 2 development differently this generation as in a make the time and port things over and its probably gonna run on there next 2 consoles

And yet Valve say they dont use hall effect joysticks because they've seen longevity issues. And my ds4 isn't hall effect and going strong for years, I never had stick drift with my ds3 or Logitech Xbox style controllers. And my steam deck is working fine with no drift yet. Not saying it will never happen, but I'm on my 4th (!!) set of joycons for the switch, all replaced under warranty , and because of stick drift (and rails issues ). So I had to replace 4 pairs in the switch, in the same time where other potentiometer joysticks have been and stayed fine. Nintendo must've done something wrong .
My 4 year old joycons have never had any issues. I also use them a lot. So much so that the rubber has worn on the sticks but still no issues.

switch 2 design is not looking different from switch 1
super switch, 100%
I'll bet you 1000 dollars you're wrong
i wonder if there will be good upscaling for switch 1 games. zelda at 4k@60fps on an emulator has been phenomenal, but nintendo seems to be on the warpath killing emulators... 😮💨
I'm wondering if they'd do a remaster or rather role out some patches for Switch 1st party titles.
There were rumours that Nintendo was showing off improved versions of BotW and TotK. I think its likely.
too bad switch 2 will be dissapointing 😢
If they don’t name it the Super Switch they don’t understand their own brand.
Switch 2 is clear. Super Switch or Super Nintendo Switch while sounds better people could mistake it with something like a PlayStation 5 pro.
I think after the WII U they want to be as clear as possible.
Reveal wen?
Components are already outdated. This is like ps4 era all over again. Fkn Nintendo...
When digital foundry is talking about Switch 2 leaks you know Nintendo waited too long.
Only an idiot reveal switch 2 before Christmas. That would have tanked their holiday sales of the current switch. Only reason why they did that with the original switch is bc the wiiu was already dead and was telling Nintendo fans to hold off.

People will be disappointed, there's minimum 900 hours of "switch 2 leaks" over 3 years of click bait videos. Also PC gamers aren't going to be impressed with performance or price.
Well that's not true
It will be $400 and the chipset is the Tegra T239. As far as performance goes it all comes down to the node process used and the chosen clock speeds.
Nintendo is literally revealing it before March 2025 what are you talking about?
@@ZackSNetworkno. Performance boils down to architecture and ISA. The Tegra T239 is weak as of TODAY. And bear in mind that the OG Switch launched in 2017 with a weak SOC from 2 years prior. So the only certainty is that Nintendo will release a super underpowered console, so it can be cheaper than the competition while also being so cheap they could charge a super premium dollar on top of it and it's still cheap. Also, Nintendo is counting on major DLSS and frame gen to make the games look "next gen enough" but it'll probably be half a PS4 Pro capable machine. Which would put it against... The top high-end mobile phones FROM TODAY. Let's not forget that the T239 pales in comparison to any CPU from the past 4 years and phones are already using the new M4s and Snapdragons. Meaning that your top phone TODAY already outperforms BY A LOT the new Nintendo console that hasn't even come out yet.
The original Switch was on pair with high-end phones but the tech evolved too much in the last 10 years.

Switch 2 < Stean deck 1.
I haven’t had to replace a single joycon and I bought quite a few switches and extra controllers.
should have brought back the "super" moniker... "super switch" > "switch 2"
Maybe, I just think it means a better version of an existing line. Think Nvidia with a RTX XXXX and the RTX XXXX Super.

I hope they keep the pocketable form factor. The switch is not that pocketable
Looks like a nintendo sqitch
I just want the buttons and sticks to be bigger. Also, I would love if Nintendo released a joy con with a dpad instead of the layout similar to face buttons. I know it's designed for 2 people playing together while unlocked but it would be inclusive if they designed for people who play alone. I know 3rd party may be do it but I'd rather Nintendo make an official one.
Could Nintendo launch a pro dock with an external GPU connected to the switch via USB-c?
Modding 🤔
No
The only thing we know about Switch 2 is that it will be underpowered and outdated at launch.
March 28th 2025
maybe there is an thunderbold gpu in the dock. that would be a game changer
Maybe it runs on uranium
I don't know what Lord you're talking about but that ain't mine

Nintendo are pulling the same thing they did(design wise) wiiU than switch and now is switch and the switch 2. No innovation at first glance . They should have given it a second screen and made it compatible with ds / 3ds . That way they have a existing library at launch and new modern games using the 2 screens .
