Idk why they didn't try to add more FG technics into it since console controllers have much higher latency than mouse does (aka you can't feel the latency that much).
@hfikz they could've usen frame extrapolation techniques take 1 true frame, add 2 more generated frames, then another 1 true frame. You don't feel the added latency when using the wireless ps5 controller, not like on the mouse and keyboard on pc. Also they could add more features like using ai to combine between raster and ray tracing, using RT when possible example when you are in a fight you tend to focus on the fight itself and not much about the surrounding so why not rasterize these parts of the frame. They could use higher input sizes for the cnn and much much more
@@alilokhd4638 I thought that's what you were going with meaning the controller won't feel as much of the input lag vs a k&m setup. But your wording if you look at it, "consoles have much higher latency than mouse does", then you proceed to say "aka , you can't feel the latency that much", which is opposite and what was confusing me because we know using controller doesn't feel as responsive when you have high latency (if wireless) but normal users will not pick up on it meaning FG would work no problem explaining that you won't feel the latency much but even when I try and go "wireless" on my PC setup with PS5 or Xbox controller, I feel the input lag until I wire it which is how I run all my games when playing controller. Having higher latency but then saying you can't feel it that much is strange even if you say it's a console as on console, I guarantee any real gamer would feel the latency unless they wired their setup. It just threw me off which is why I asked what do you mean as in did you word it properly because it doesn't sound right from my own perspective and experience to add.
@hfikz trust me from a console player perspective they won't feel the added latency. From pc gamers' perspective, they do. I'm a pc gamer, and when i tried gaming on ps5, i couldn't spend more than 10 minutes and sold it out. The latency is horrible even without FG. Why didn't you trade it in for the Pro? I had tech I barely/never used and got my Pro for £350. Less than the price of a new Slim Digital Edition. All you've managed to show us is that you're technologically blind with your comment.
Tbh, feel this is a route that while cheaper/more die efficient (and custom Sony could carry over into the future). Them going with the shader-method method without a dedicated "Core" in the GPU (Tensor Cores and XMX Units are sort of in-between an NPU and the shaders themselves handling it). Will probably limit the GPU in the long run? If the GPU is laid out as they describe , wouldn't that sort of end up in the issue RDNA2/RDNA3 cards experience when using RT? (Resources across the primary CUs calculating the algorithm, or I guess a percentage of the whole GPU getting shunt out of standard shading capabilities?) The Ray Accelerators in RDNA2/3 literally shut off the TMU in the CUs they operate RT acceleration inside of. So like, switch 2 for example running some sort of blend of Ampere and Lovelace from what we can tell. It will be able to operate it's RT and Tensor Cores fully or at least semi-parallelized to the shaders. Meanwhile RDNA and presumably PS5 Pro and "Custom RDNA" will have to pause everything to do PSSR or shut off cus delegate to RT (mind, don't know if RDNA4 RT has changed that bugbear from RDNA2/3 and made it a dedicated unit). So in essence, Switch 2 would have "Pools" of TFLOPs it can use simultaneously (Shader TFLOPs, Tensor TFLOPs, RT-TFLOPs) Meanwhile the current slate of consoles and seemingly PS5 Pro at least for PSSR have a single pool it has to distribute still, it can just try to more efficiently distribute it for the work needed
Yup, this was the cheapest and smartest option. And there were multiple PS5 Pro specs being tested, and this one ultimately was the best balance for that mix of Shading + RT + PSSR.
@reaktorleak89 wouldn't nessecarily call it the smartest tbh because it limits the actual shading power of the CUs when PSSR is in-use due to how they did it. (Which is part of why PSSR use games run at similar internal resolutions to the OG PS5. PSSR's 2ms cost is extremely high for the tier of hardware)
It feels like the next gen of consoles is going to be a long one. 32 GB of of ram, AI and custom adaptions of DLSS, CPUs and GPUs that are not far off flagship desktops of today. With how much better a self contained console can run in comparison to a PC with similar power there's no reason the next console gen couldn't last a decade.
What would be a PC with similar power? Still with these pro console stories, even today that the comparison is easier? PS5-Pro continues to take them from a 2080 Ti from 6 years ago, and goes in a comparable way to 2070/6600XT as when it came out, but it is clear that the chatter of fanboys moves much faster.

No. The ps5 actually performs almost as good as a rx6800. The 6800 only performs a bit better but the differences are not big. The ps5 pro is equal to a 4070
@@balloonb0y677Nope, time and time again DF in comparisons videos have shown that a 4070 is pumping out around 20-25% more performance than the Pro. Well that's at least for those gullible people who actually fell hook, line and sinker for the commonly used "up to" marketing ploy that was used by Sony. The Pro was never going to reach that touted "up to 45%" in the vast majority of games. And that 45% uplift was needed for the Pro to be somewhat comparable to a 4070. That 45% uplift was always it's theoretical and barely achievable uppermost limit and not the far lower average uplift, that you will more typically experience in most games.

@@bes12000 They stuck to RDNA 2.X to accommodate using the base PS5 as well so they don't have to make separate versions of the same game for two platforms and basically just made a hybrid GPU
The amount of games that are optimized and actually take advantage of current ps5 hardware can be counted on one, maybe two hands. Game optimization is at an all time low, so many examples of games seemingly having no effort at all being put to make them run smoothly and at high resolutions, even good games like Silent Hill 2 Remake are just horribly optimized from a technical standpoint. I still haven’t seen many ps5 games look better than Demon’s Souls remake and that was like 4+ years ago at this point. The focus on ray tracing has been a colossal waste of effort for most games too, a lot of games don’t really benefit from it in a way that justifies the performance hit, especially since baked lighting is just ray traced lighting but with a lot less noise, and games like Demon’s Souls remake mix baked and dynamic lighting incredibly well.
Right. Shadow maps are also dynamic if the developers actually took the time to make it that way. But now a days developers just want to dlap on ray tracing with some upscales and call it a day. And just because a game had ray traced shadows doesn’t even mean the shadow detail will look better, and actually that’s where ray tracing has a big fault, shadow maps can be pre rendered with huge amounts of rays and have little impact on performance
They also did a retro bit and Indiana Jones. Besides that the Pro is the most interesting thing right now for a games tech channel. Switch 2 and RTX 5 are not out yet and MS is skipping mid-gen upgrades.

Sony did not advertise anything incorrectly and they never mentioned RDNA other than custom for graphics which it is.
Moral of the story is stop listening to rumours and start waiting for facts If you are worried.
There are plenty of happy PS5 Pro owners and that is all that matters really.
Sony has gaslighted this type of predicament since PS2. So they're not without blame.
i love my pro. its an impressive upgrade.
The whole problem is that it's too expensive. If it was 600$ with the disc drive, nobody would complain. But at this price, the performances are just bad and the disc drive situation is just insulting tbh

Idk why they didn't try to add more FG technics into it since console controllers have much higher latency than mouse does (aka you can't feel the latency that much).
Did you word it properly? What do you mean?
But your wording if you look at it,
"consoles have much higher latency than mouse does", then you proceed to say "aka , you can't feel the latency that much", which is opposite and what was confusing me because we know using controller doesn't feel as responsive when you have high latency (if wireless) but normal users will not pick up on it meaning FG would work no problem explaining that you won't feel the latency much but even when I try and go "wireless" on my PC setup with PS5 or Xbox controller, I feel the input lag until I wire it which is how I run all my games when playing controller.
And sorry, i was tired today. i didn't think much about what i wrote clearly. i thought i meant what you said until you corrected me. Thanks

Cool story bro
You decided to return an undeniably better console for which you also bought a better TV. Sure, the price point is a sting to the pockets, but as you said, you've got an "og" console. Why didn't you trade it in for the Pro? I had tech I barely/never used and got my Pro for £350. Less than the price of a new Slim Digital Edition. All you've managed to show us is that you're technologically blind with your comment.
Twice? Your math is wrong. The PS5 Slim Digital is $450. Add to that that the PS5 Pro has a 2 TB SSD instead of the 1 TB drive of the base model.
So ps5 base and xbox x can get fsr 4. Skip the pro.
(Resources across the primary CUs calculating the algorithm, or I guess a percentage of the whole GPU getting shunt out of standard shading capabilities?)
The Ray Accelerators in RDNA2/3 literally shut off the TMU in the CUs they operate RT acceleration inside of.
So in essence, Switch 2 would have "Pools" of TFLOPs it can use simultaneously (Shader TFLOPs, Tensor TFLOPs, RT-TFLOPs)
Meanwhile the current slate of consoles and seemingly PS5 Pro at least for PSSR have a single pool it has to distribute still, it can just try to more efficiently distribute it for the work needed
So what is the DP4a for RDNA 2, is that how it does ML?
Just played Hogwarts Legacy on the Pro and it is amazing the picture is super sharp at 60fps 🤩

Ps5 vs Ps5 pro is essentially the difference between RX6600 XT and an RX7700 XT
No. The ps5 actually performs almost as good as a rx6800. The 6800 only performs a bit better but the differences are not big. The ps5 pro is equal to a 4070
@balloonb0y677 Much worse RT, upscaling and clocks than 4070
@@balloonb0y677Nope, time and time again DF in comparisons videos have shown that a 4070 is pumping out around 20-25% more performance than the Pro. The Pro is only typically showing around a 30% uplift over the PS5 on average and not that 45% that Sony touted. Performance is far lower than what some people initially expected.
