    Do you think someone gets a good discount from Doncaster cables.

    Would have been interesting to see if there was any difference in core resistance, i.e. were they skimping on the copper?

    Is that for installing power and data in an annex or something? Trying to think of why you'd want CAT6 bundled with big conductors like that. Maybe a smart vehicle charger.
    Edit: I just realized the name suggests it is for EVs ha.

    Screw fix sell "EV Ultra" cable with the manufacturer name of "Time" rather than Doncaster Cables. Is that another fake or clone?

    Alternative looks quite good. Is there a (rough) cost comparison?

      The alternative is rubbish. Have you actually watched the video in full?!

      Don't fall for the spin in what is a paid promotion for one product.

      Hey Terry, this wasn't a paid promotion. You may see the notification pop up but this is there for our affiliate links in the description.

    14:46 - According to the regs, the CPC should be a 70/30 split of green and yellow. - Either way is fine, i.e. 70% Green with 30% Yellow, or 70% yellow and 30% green! I personally prefer 50/50...

    "EV Proinstall" Cable. Seeing as Jordan doesnt mention the other brand name nearly as much, only mentioning it once, compared to repeatedly saying "Doncaster Cables".

      When you have an business agreement with a company you try to show their products in a different light of the competitors.
      They visit the Doncaster Cables factory, they had a reel of cable printed with their logo, they installed 4 EV charging points plus a new consumer unit (if I'm not mistaken). Even if the competitor was better they would never do this video.
      I don't mind they doing reviews of equipment and tools plus comparisons if the products had been bought from their own money. I've done it myself, to the point of if the product was not good or fulfil my needs I would return it or sell it.
      But in this case at the beginning of the video the outcome was already set - paint one in a better light because there are business interests in play. Specially when they call it "Fake EV Ultra cable" and the cable itself doesn't have any similarities in name or branding except EV.

    Why is the titled 'fake EV Ultra cable'? Unless the other cable is branded 'EV Ultra', it's a competing product and not fake. I'd say you're leaving yourself wide open on this.

    Cat5e shielded network cable is fine for even high speed data use. Cat 6a is overkill. The characteristic of the cheap cable not staying where you put it makes me think it’s CCA (Copper Coated Aluminium) which isn’t good. The cheap cable is clearly rubbish compared to the Doncaster cable. When I say cheap it isn’t actually cheap because nothing in CEF is cheap. They are easily the UK’s most expensive electrical wholesaler. Every time I check stock availability of any item on their website, no branches have ever got it in stock, and you can only have it delivered or order it in. Do their branches stock anything at all?!

      The alternative cable (probably a better term than fake cable) is Eland EV ProInstall Cat6A LSZH Cable, Power Cores: Class 5 flexible stranded Copper, CAT6 pairs: Class 1 solid Copper.

    EV Ultra cable style is good for domestic. Not great necessarily for a more industrial location with coupling from the AC to the data.
    In a pure ev use case, probably not as big a deal as data rates are low but I can see people re purposing this cable for general LV and copper comes.
    Big difference in the design.
    That other cable looks like it should meet cat6a. Going cat6 makes it more likely someone will use this in a use case that ay be problematic from coupling.
    I wonder if that is a background reason why Doncaster cables went with Cat5. At this point, surely the cost to go cat6 isn't that much more to the end price.

    I actually think that running a cat6 data cable near high voltage AC cables is not the best idea,because the AC electricity will probably mess up with data cables signals

      The twisted pairs are made to cancel out the interference. Even cables right next to feeds to commercial kitchens don't cause issues.

    • @daves4026
      @daves4026 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed but I’ve used shielded twisted pair with a foil layer. Been ok so far

    • @simonkan1996
      @simonkan1996 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But that's why it's shielded data cable

    • @seanet1310
      @seanet1310 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@florisvdk depends on the use case. Domestic your likely fine. An industrial environment with highly inductive load switching on the end, running a combined cable could bring trouble.
      It all depends on the types of loads on the circuit etc and to some extent, the data rate of the Ethernet as a low data requirement will be more tolerant to errors as the packets can be resent.
      STP does not prevent all coupling.

    • @seanet1310
      @seanet1310 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not that this is a HV use case but it can be a problem. Highly unlikely to be a concern here in a domestic environment like Artisans work in.

    AC and cat6 should not be together. Strange comparison of cable as well

    • @herrtomas6729

      The normal standard is for data to cross power at right angles, but where not possible, shielded data cables are used specifically for that reason - ie harsh environments (harsh, in terms of data signal integrity)
