This is a channel about crossbow hunting. This is not a channel about shooting big bucks. I don't discriminate--I'll shoot any legal deer. ;) But, sometimes, big bucks happen!
I want to help make TH-cam the #1 place for quality hunting entertainment. I want to help spread the hunting lifestyle. To do that, I set up this channel to showcase the crossbow and help others film their hunts and get those videos online. So, subscribe to this channel to be entertained and learn more about crossbows and filming in the outdoors.
This channel is about my love of the crossbow, hunting, and the outdoors. I hunt exclusively with the crossbow. I love it. Sure, like a lot of kids, I started hunting with a good ol' Model '94 Winchester .30-30 back in the 80's, but drifted away from hunting when I went off to college, law school, and started a family. As my daughter got older, I regained my interest in the outdoors, and I consider myself lucky to hunt on the same property today that I hunted on as a kid. I got the Excalibur Axiom crossbow in 2010 and I haven't looked back. This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...
...and music, too! My related channel, Yankee Militia, showcases my music. Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! scott Lemee Absolutely! I still remember my first hunt and harvest with my dad. Unfortunately, not with crossbow, but a Ruger M77 .22-250 which I still shoot and hunt with. As you write, memories for a life!

That’s fantastic to see her hunting, my 7 year old grand son can’t wait to go and loves walking with me and my son in the woods showing him what to look for and is practicing with his bow and getting pretty darn good

Instead of a "de-cocking"... just use a older target arrow and.. carry your target with you. Then just shoot the target... On another note... this was fantastic, father daughter time in the woods shooting together. Just a proud time between father and daughter. Fantastic. Also, I liked her first question.. "Do you have a range finder ? " smart girl. To take a moment and check with a range finder is a great practice.
i didn't pick up on the rangefinder question until i was editing the video, that was pretty cool, thanks!

You are able to uncock the bow with the EXT crank. The issue is that, as opposed to cocking, there is no safety ratcheting system when turning the handle counter-clockwise; if your hand were to slip during this process, the handle would violently spin out to release all that energy at once. That's what the safety strap is for. But for the cocking process you don't actually need the strap because the silent ratcheting system will lock the handle in place were it to slip out of your hand. But again, the safety ratchet only works when turning the handle clockwise (cocking)...when turning counterclockwise (uncocking) you must use the wrist strap to prevent any potential injuries

Hey Dad she will remember these hunts forever , and she is smart like you dont forget ( IF and when you got the time) to take her fishing too!!! I havnt done that in a long time' I have a block target like you but I wounder how easy them rienhart block targets are to pull arrows out.

I went to a lot of 3D archery shoots to practice yardage. When I'm walking in to my tree stand I might not have time to use the rangefinder. If the rangefinder goes dead on me then I have something to go back on so I don't have to quit hunting that day.
Preparation and practice are key! I read that in a book recently 😉 I have been doing something similar for the past couple of weeks. I only shoot three arrows at a time once a week. My daughter will be hunting with me this year as well! Not shooting though, she is only 8 but she can't wait to go!

She has an easy dead eye. No challenge. Now with that said.... (LOL) you dont have to take quartering to. They generally pass (without becoming alert) or they leave. There are plenty of deer in the woods and hogs at the ranch. Dot get excited. Wait ;)

Hi bunjie! New to the channel and to crossbow hunting, I just bought my first ever crossbow, would be here tomorrow, and am looking to get a target for it, the specs say it can shoot up to 400fps and I'm worried about the arrow blowing through the target, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks from a newbie to crossbow hunting

Targets are the weak link these days with high speed xbows. Look at a new, albeit expensive, Block or Rhinehart IMO. Newest models are pretty stout.

Yo do you ever take the front bow part off of your Excalibur? If so when you put it back on does it mess with the accuracy or anything? Thanks
Best to test it but it doesn't make much difference in my experience
I have the excal 305 that uses the 18.5in bolt and wondering if the shorter bolts are as accurate.
