It is so refreshing to watch your videos! I think they are great and they are right up my alley when it comes to hunting. I have been hunting for over 45 years and absolutely love being out in the woods, whether I shoot a deer or not. Bringing home venison is certainly a big plus, but it has been many years since I was obsessed with "big bucks only". Several orthopedic surgeries throughout my life led me to the crossbow, despite many friends and family members considering it "cheating". I still wanted to bow hunt, but could not hold a draw without a lot of shoulder pain. I am now crazy about crossbows and finding your channel was a blessing! I also feel strongly that shooting a doe is not some terrible never to be done act of crime that some TH-cam channels lead you to believe. For me, I would rather shoot a doe. Easier for my creaky old body to drag out and throw on my vehicle and I am not trying to measure the size of my nutsack by how many horns I can hang on a wall. I am about filling the freezer for the year with tender meat and I get the same level of excitement shooting a doe as I do a buck. So, it is a very welcome relief to finally hear someone who does not degrade another hunter for legally shooting a doe. Promoting a crossbow and not hating on anyone who chooses to shoot does makes your channel perfect for me. Thanks!
People!!! This is a classic American 🇺🇸 Deer 🦌 hunting adventure and it is well worth watching twice !! Everyone can learn a bunch of lessons from this post from wind direction to baiting to weapons and broad heads tracking and just shear Joy of the hunt!!!! I recommend two viewings of this post!!!🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
Nice shot. When I hit a bigger deer I usually find the bolt about 20 yards away from the impact. And I've never not had a full pass-thru. 15 deer total, all pass-thru. Congrats on a monster buck!
Great buck man I moved to Florida 14 years ago I'm originally from Pennsylvania Damascus I'm moving back to Damascus either late October early November so you can hunt with a crossbow in Pennsylvania keep the videos coming love the work that you do!!!
Great advice on hunting I have learned alot watching your videos I have seen just about all of them I finally harvested my very first deer ever in my life and I got to experience that with my daughter truly a awesome moment I used my grunt call like you had suggested and it has worked twice and I was able to make a shot on one of them thank you!!! Keep up the great work
Hi from Wales UK, channel is great, loved this vid particularly. It really captures the hunt and Rich's emotions. UK legislation doesn't allow hunting with a bow or crossbow so this'll probably be the nearest I'll ever get to hunting with a crossbow. Thankyou Rich and Bunjie!
Thank you for watching! I will always find it odd that you can't hunt with a crossbow or a bow where bows were used for hundreds of years. What is the rationale for that? Is there a reason Firearms are permitted but not bows? What do the people that make that legislation say in support of it? I'm just curious, I'm not pointing fingers or anyting.
@@Deathbybunjie I wish there was a rational explanation as to why you can legally hunt with a rifle or shotgun but not bows or crossbows. You can quite legally hunt small game such as rabbits, grey squirrels, rats and crows using a non FAC air rifle with a muzzle energy limited to 12ft lbs,a lot less than a modern crossbow. At what point in British legal history legislation was passed outlawing bow hunting I don't know. As you say very odd, particularly in a nation so heavily steeped in archery tradition,it was even listed as a national sport in the past and during the middle ages a legal requirement for all able bodied adult men to be proficient in the use of a longbow. In fact an obscure piece of ancient legislation makes it perfectly legal for an Englishmen to kill a Welshman in the grounds of Hereford Cathedral with a bow. Since this has still not been repealed since the 1600's I guess in certain circumstances hunting 'IS' still legal in England if these conditions are followed!
A great video; you are very professional, respectful, well spoken, obviously well read, do your homework, have great footage and editing. and of course who else would write and produce their own song... Great work Buddy, your channel is first class.
Congrats great buck. It’s so great to hear you talk about the shot and be so calm. I still get the horrible fever...the only thing going through my head is...ahhhh deer!!!!
I've been a vertical bow hunter my whole life. About 6 seasons ago my bud told me he got a crossbow at a garage sale. So I IMMEDIATELY started givin him a hard time about using a GIRLY MAN BOW! Well just for the heck of it I took it out for an evening sit and Smoked a big doe and ain't put it down since! It was the same model as Bungie, a EXCALIBUR 305 Axiom! I have since bought a 380 Bulldog and ABSOLUTELY love it! Still use my Mathews vertical bow, but I go Crossbowin just as much as I shoot my Mathews bow! Beautiful 8 pointer, just subbed to your channel cant wait to see how the rest of your season unfolds!
Nice buck, good shot, you and Bunjie did a fine job is always like your videos been watching them for a few years now keep it up and and shot straight🏹
Eastern Shore Maryland local 👋🏻 still haven’t gotten anything yet this year! Hunting on private mostly with a smaller herd in the area. I love getting pictures and watching the yearlings at my feeder. I’ll never take a yearling though. Just got some trail cam pics of a spike and button buck which was exciting since we’ve got no pictures of bucks yet this year. I can’t wait to see how the yearlings fill out next year and the new fawns! You got yourself a beautiful Maryland buck too! Congrats!
Glad you like this, it's funny, I wasn't nervous until I look back at the shot LOL. Looking at it on the little screen on a camera got me a little nervous but once I looked at it on the computer, I was pretty confident
OMG didn't know you were from Northeastern PA! I'm from the Williamsport area! I just purchased at Tenpoint Titan M1 and also a PSE rdx400 as I switch from compound bow to crossbow due to shoulder issues. Glad I found you!
@@jimsomerville3924 A compound is still a vertical bow that's not pre cocked and cant shoot accurately at 100 yards lmao no comparing the two. FACT most people change to crossguns cause they used compound for years and got skunked
YouAlie I know this is an old comment but you’re thinking about it wrong. Think about it. Us compound hunters usually have 75-85 percent let off. We have our fancy sights that either are adjusted to ranges or a single pin sight that you can literally adjust to any yardage, reasonably of course. We have a release. Now I can understand your point. With the crossbow, you don’t normally have to stand, you don’t have to draw, and they have a scope. But you also have to carry the crossbow in the woods, cock it, decock it when you’re done, if you see a deer you have to position it, and the bow is usually louder that you’d average compound. Not much quicker either. So yeah, crossbow isn’t near as hard but it has limbs, strings, and arrows. So it’s archery. I’m starting to compound and recurve hunt this upcoming season. Think about this, old recurve guys could make the same argument that compounds are not archery either. I think the only way you can talk is if you shoot a compound that has less that 60% letoff, you must use three fingers to shoot, and you can’t use sights. And on top of all of this that one guy that originally commented was just happy he could hunt with a crossbow because that’s what makes him happy. Now you’ve took that away from him. You’re the reason people don’t like hunting. You’re that one guy nobody in the hunting community likes.
Excellent Buck hard work does pay off . Went out today and nothing have two more days . Quota hunts WMAs there hard to hunt but I will keep trying with my new Crossbow when I get me one then I will pick a name for it . Keep the videos coming .
My first time following you and Bunjie on a hunt. Although this video is a little long, l find it interesting. Your story telling was interesting. Your voice was very forgiving and comments were easily assimilated. Looks like this video will not be my last.
Couldn't wait for the kill music. What a great self-video. You should be proud of all your efforts. Now that you are an accomplished (ahem) trophy hunter I hope you won't forget us meat hunters. Looking forward to seeing the mount. Oh, and I just want to say I'm so happy for you I'm not even going for a joke this time, ya big lug.
Big congratulations to you, Rick, on taking a beautiful trophy. All deer we take are trophies but I hope you get this one mounted. Apparently this is an exceptional size for the area in which you hunt.
awesome buck, never hunted deer with crossbow, hoping they change the law here in NY, being disabled i had to stop the bow hunting back in 2002-2003 area..am so excited about the chance to get out for the NEW archery season (if it happens) great video and love your thought process on things,,, just recently started watching your channel.. learned a lot and im still green to it all.. thanks

I will address that in a future video. It's an important topic. I will say, in my opinion, shooting a lot of does really helps.
Congrats rick and bunjie !!!!! What a beautiful buck!!!! I knew it was a matter of time!!! I still love the channel, keep up the good work!!!
I knew you could do it Rich way to go !!!!!!!! now i am going to watch the show you never let us down
I’m so happy it’s come full circle type did the music before hand knowing it’s coming! Awesome coverage
Thanks Calvin!
Great job! I appreciate the concern you had for the shot placement and not rushing to start tracking. Too many deer get pushed and lost. Awesome video
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I love your videos, your excitement and love of nature is very refreshing.
