@@davidparsons2391 lol don’t make a judgment about me. I’m not a salesman. Steve said the pipe can blow any time about 5 times during the video. You can’t expect pipe to last 100 years without issue. Would you like to be drinking and washing your dishes and bathing in that sludge?

    • @davidparsons2391

@@BrickTop900 I heard him say that but he wasn’t rammy about it and he still tried to help them. Did you hear the lady say that they received notice not to drink the water. I’m curious as to what actually causes the “cholesterol” buildup in the domestic water pipes? Is it the chemical reaction with the old pipes or it’s it some chemical or mineral leaching out of the public water supply?

    • @12yearssober

I remember when I re did all my black iron with copper. I had a pro plumber replace old gate valve because I was afraid I'd snap it in basement wall. He even said, This may snap and we'll be digging. He was able to put in a ball shut off without breaking line. I did the rest of work. Wife was kind of pissy because of the cost. Until she took that first shower. Then she noticed how fast toilet refilled and how the hose sprayer in kitchen blasted grime off the dishes and how fast the washer filled up. That was 30 years ago. I don't think I've impressed her since, lol. Thanks Steven. That was a rough one.

I've had brass pipes in my 90 year old house and brass alone doesn't seem to be a problem. I've never had a problem with either brass or "cholesterol" but was warned about brass saying that when it's disturbed you can have problems.
As a DIYer, I replaced brass with copper when I had work in the area. The ph of the water may have an effect.

@@fredh54 I had that pipe in my first house, built in 1932 and had that problem using city water. Did not have that problem with same city water at any of my parent's houses with copper pipe. I'm on well water now with copper and plastic: no clogging.
In the video, SL replied to the customer's question: PEX or copper. That indicates to me that those materials don't suffer from that problem. If the water is the problem, those materials would not remediate the problem..

Can't you get a chemical treatment to dissolve that stuff? at least in the heating system and then leave it in there for a bit and drain the system.

'Compression fittings are used to join two pieces of brake line together. ... You cannot, under any circumstances, use compression fittings to repair the lines on a public transportation vehicle. Many states have banned the use of this repair on passenger vehicles, too.Feb 20, 2014'

Steve as an ASE certified technician with a current certification in brake systems you 100% CANNOT use a compression fitting on brake systems. People do it yes, but if that vehicle gets into an accident and that is found to be faulty, Lookout MAMA!! JUDGE WILL HACE A FIELD ADY WITH YOU ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL. That's backyard shadetree at its finest.
