I am doing all repairs including plumbing at my house. I am ok with it as long as it is my own dirt. But digging in other people´s mess, no way....Much respect for doing that job. But I guess you get used to it after a few months. Probably not much surprises after that time.

HEY Steve why do you wear gloves? Had to clear the drain in my kitchen black stinky tar 30 years of grease poured down the drain. OH Ma Ma when I dropped the trap everyone ran the stink and the black water did not have a snake used a air pig it worked . And I wore gloves. And now the grease goes in the brown bag.The worst smell was the dishwasher that had a failed water pump was 10 years old got a new one. Only sitting 2 weeks took it out MAN I have a high tolerance to stink almost lost my guts smelt like century old wet dead fish wore gloves on that one too. You have my utmost respect. I am a Diesel mechanic and have no way I would be a Plumber Kudos buddy.

Probably some caustic liquids have gone down those sink basins in the past (drain cleaner). Not to mention it appears they only use cold water most of the time as hot/warm water would have washed down the peanut butter long ago. It's a good idea to run a little more warm soapy water down the pipes after use to push the crud down into the sewer pipes vs. let it all settle up top. Even pot of boiling water down both sinks once a month would help with the crud building up. Best to run the water when/while using a sink and let it flow a short time once done using it. Drins need a little help in stuff getting pushed where it needs to go.
