I went thru similar family structure. And we used to duck down when we drove by our friends. One thing I can say. My father had a lot of major respect in the community and the gangsters loved my family.

Joker’s story is much like a lot of black families who are evangelicals. The real world doesn’t exist inside the home to a certain degree. Religion does not save your children….PARENTING does…not saying Joker had bad parents but he did not have ACTIVE parents. Being an active parent is what keeps your children out of the street life. Being there for all of their events, being excited for their accomplishments, going to the PTA meetings, always making sure your children celebrate themselves and see you CELEBRATE THEM!!! This is a conversation a lot of parents, specifically black parents don’t wanna have. A lot of parents in our community make excuses, they think just because they go to work and pay the bills the job is done….NO ITS JUST STARTING.
That's not always true though, especially when it comes to black American culture in the cities. It's a video kev mac did with OG Band News; The paraplegic lady from watts, even head honcho. OG Bad News said most of the original Westside came from two parent homes with parents that went to pta meetings together but kids was out gangbanging. Black culture always struggled in cities, Booker t Washington, and its a study in Atlanta Sociology Report.
A strong cultural identity and community based values can make up for what you might not get at home. It was issues at foundation of black culture that exposed itself when alot of those generations left the rural south.
@@alphonsomorris793 that’s not what they said. They said they came from two parent homes they didn’t say what their home life was like. OG Ron Ron from 60s explaining it perfectly. He came from a 2 parent home but he felt left out like he didn’t get the attention he deserved from his parents. Joker is saying the same thing!! His dad was in the home but always gone, and his mother was “in her own world.” Being in a two parent home does not mean your parents are PRESENT!
@@alphonsomorris793 the families who left the south are 2-3 generations removed from reconstruction. They left because they got tired of facing racism and white supremacy. It’s only natural for a human being to want PEACE and not feel their lives are being threatened. The financial issues were not the issue for families who left the south because majority of them also left for better jobs also. They were home owners on the west coast, but once those jobs left, the industry and factories left that’s when you get Joker’s generation.
@@alphonsomorris793 crime didn’t just pop up in black communities because they left the south. Crime existed in black communities IN the south. Black people on the west coast have a strong cultural identity that’s not the issue. The issue is everything but that. It starts AT HOME.
