I’ve had this Bible for about 3 weeks now. I am totally in love with it. I’ve never seen such a readable, engaging compact. Everything is very readable including the references- it just feels like there is tons of space on the page. Not sure how Nelson managed that.

Looks like a really nice, practical carry-around Bible!

Very cool. In terms of compact I just picked up the NKJV Compact Single Column Reference which is well worth a look. 9pt comfort print font, 36 gsm. I got in the genuine leather which is vinyl paste down. Fantastic compact.

I have had the same one for a few years now. Great size and good quality leather for the money.

Thank you for this detailed review. I enjoy your comparisons between the new and older versions of the Bible printing. I am considering another compact NKJV Bible. I still use my old 1983 NKJV Royale Reference Center-Column genuine leather Bible and it is my go-to compact for travel (and when I used to use it for “street” preaching 🙂). I’m considering what my options are regarding a replacement. If I want to replace my 1983 Bible, which one would that be? I like to retain the font type when NT quotes from the OT. Another option is to find a re-binder to give my Bible an extended life. I am leaning on the latter.

I agree, at that price they can do better than a paper liner.

Count me as one of the old ones who prefer the verse by verse text. 😂 I recently replaced my compact NKJV, unfortunately it is in paragraph form, but I will tolerate it. 🙂

I'm totally there with you 😂! I think it's just what we grew up with, KJV, NKJV & NASB 77 was all verse by verse! So of course all those need to be vbv for me to feel most comfortable reading. Everything else funnily enough can be paragraph, haha.

Hi, I live in Singapore and thank you for this detailed review on this particular Bible. Actually I love all your Bible reviews! I really love the NKJV and this one is compact, which is my Goldilocks size! But I have one problem with faux leather, it will flake in time. Do you have any tips for preserving the faux leather for longer time? Genuine leather Bibles are way too expensive for me. 3 years ago I bought the NKJV end of verse reference personal size in the Deluxe Leathersoft edition, I thought it would last longer, but now due to my frequent use, it is starting to flake, my heart is broken... **sob**. Do let me know if you any tips. Thank you so much for your attention and may God bless you and your works.

NKJV is my bible to read, take to church and study. It's a 13.5 point font, center column reference as you've reviewed here. My one question is, because it came in a slip case, as did mine, you made a comment as to what that may indicate about the Bible. Please explain that to me. Thanks.

Usually the genuine leather bibles from Thomas Nelson come in a clamshell box. The slip cover is for the imitation leather bibles. I have both kinds and the imitation leather ones are just fine to me

Thank you, Tim. Font is too small for me.
