You are right, we don't get a lot of snow, not what you would expect. It does seem to snow often but rarely more than 3 inches at a time and frequently less. Moved here from Dallas and appreciate the change in seasons. The winter is a little long (and grey) but yes, spring and fall are stunning. The first cold snap of the year is a bit of a shock to the system but you get acclimated; unless it is below freezing, you usually only see me in a light jacket. When I first moved here for a job opportunity, I knew very little about the area ... the Indy 500, Peyton Manning played for the Colts, the Pacers played here and corn fields ... that is about it. Pleasantly surprised. Great downtown, beautiful parks/trails, plenty of things to do. I'm not in real estate but there are plenty of options for the lifestyle you are interested in. If you love to watch or play sports, few places beat it. Chicago, St. Louis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Columbus all reasonably close for a work trip or weekend away. Not perfect, I've lived in a number of big cities and they all have their positives and negatives but I'm glad to have lived here ... and both my kids were born Hoosiers!
1 = yes this is awesome , snow is cool cold is not 2 = nicknames are cool location is centralized majority of us population is close by which makes Indy a nice centered location. 3 = sports again great location and tightness of downtown to everything speedway is amazing as well , we are top 3 with swimming 4 = we like food 5 = live here cheep , take the extra money and visit anywhere you want Thanks for the video and it looks like you live in fishers, so do I
Great information Jason! Im looking into investing in Real Estate in Indiana in the near future. I just started my market research and slowly getting lured to the city. thanks for the video, I'll definitely check more of your vids.
If you're concerned about snakes, in my experience you'll be pretty content here in Indy. I have not seen any snakes that weren't domesticated in 20+ years of living/growing up here.
This help a lot cuz I’m moving to Indiana with my family and I’m a sporty guy are there any out door courts or Recreational centers for basketball or football
Absolutely! It depends on what part of the city you're in but you'll have choices everywhere. Indyparks.org is a good place to start with Indy. All of the suburbs also have parks departments and plenty of choices for basketball or football. Plus, you have facilities like the YMCA as well.
Great video! I thought you are going to mention about Indy 500 when you mentioned about playing and watching sports. But overall a great view of Indy. People from out of state should watch your channel to know more about Indiana. All they know is cornfield.
I have a good tip, stay out of the intercity it's just unsafe. The small area in the downtown portion is OK but not great. If you,re planning on buying a house buy one outside of the ring of 465 and away from the bus routes. The better places around Indy are Carmel and Fishers on the north side. Greenwood and Franklin south. Avon, Plainfield and Danville on the west side. On the east side it's a bit tougher, you will need to go out farther to Greenfield and Knightstown. The bulk of the state is nice but like most big city's stay out of the central portion as much as you can.
Great informative video! I will definitely consult with you if and when I move up there. I am still trying to figure out which city in Indiana is conducive to me lol
Hey man, I'm heading to Indianapolis next fall for grad school and I'm wondering how much trouble I will have finding a rental. I have rough credit so I was hoping some places gave automatic acceptance to iupui students. Any advice would be helpful!
Not sure about automatic acceptance except for maybe on campus housing. When searching for a rental the credit score can certainly matter but it will depend on who owns the property. There is no set credit score. Some owners will take higher while others have more flexibility.
The area around IUPUI is pretty pricey but most of it has been rebuilt or remodeled in the last ten years or so. If you're looking to save money look for something on the south side of town and commute. Maybe look around the University of Indianapolis (U of I) and maybe you get a room mate.
I’ve been binging all of your videos! My husband and I are so eager to move to Indianapolis this October! We’re looking to get an apartment and wondering which neighborhoods are the best/ safest?
Hi,thank you for all the info you give us,i would like to ask you a couple of things, first one,is marihuana legal in indianopolis? Is there a lot of people from india in indianapolis? Is there chinese people in there? And last one,do are you obligated to have medical insurance in indiana? Oh,and what is the minimum wage ? Thank you
There are several areas in the city that are considered quite safe. It's just a matter of what part is the most convenient for your work and other needs. Most of the suburbs are phenomenal. Fishers, Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville, Zionsville, Avon, Brownsburg, etc... are incredibly safe and have some of the best schools in the state. I've got 2 videos that go into a little more detail and discuss the safety/schools. Top 5 Indianapolis Suburbs (covers larger suburbs) and Top 5 Small Indy Suburbs. If you have questions about what side of the city is going to likely fit what you need feel free to reach out! I'm happy to discuss it with you.
Healthcare here has gone downhill! ERs are terrible for community hospitals! I have had bad experiences for them! IU drs are bad as well. I think mostly has to do w/ Medicare coverage? Just horrible experiences over last few yrs! Seems Drs just can’t or won’t to help.. flummoxed! I don’t know if this is nationwide thing or an Indiana thing?
