    Great video Glen! I early extend, causing a flip, manipulate the club and hit my shots on the toe of the club face. A chair or golf bag works on the range. While on the course what are some suggestions to correct. Thanks.

      Thank you for your comments Gale.
      You’re on the right track, performing the drills at the range. Repetition and discipline are key to effect any technique change. The more you practise with a chair behind you, the easier staying in posture through impact will become.
      If you’re playing practice rounds on the course, put your bag in place whilst hitting shots.
      When hitting shots without that reference point, try to imagine the chair or bag is still there.

    This is a game changing video! Thanks Glen. I was one of those hit 1000s of golf balls with a lot of inconsistency. I've seen the chair drill before but no one explained with such depth as you. After practicing the drill I was crushing my drives without any effort. Your comments about allowing the rotation to square the club were brilliant and perhaps the best advice I've ever heard. Keep up the awesome work!!

    Exactly what i am doing. Early extension, flipping the hands and pulling the ball to the left.

      @@AussieGolfPros I’ve always had a bit of early extension . But some a lot of times I would still hit the ball okay and shoot decent. Also I’m pretty strong and always had good speeds out wouldn’t slow me down . Been golfing for 15 years and shanked ever so often. recently I’ve been putting in the work to fix the really extension. Also been working to shallow the club. It seems to be helping so far hitting balls in the garage since golf is lockdown down here in Ontario

    I play off 3 and I always early extend but my hands are soo quick I manage to square the face and get reasonable contact. I hit most fairways but I do not hit the ball long at all. 220m or sometimes 230 I lack club head and ball head speed and im 6 foot 2 i have long limbs so im limiting my distance by this early extension. I've tried everything to fix it and improve it. I'll give this chair drill a go and see how it goes. Thanks heaps

      After trying this drill my pelvis still wants to extend. I noticed my back heel comes off the ground way too soon in the down swing which thrust the pelvis forward so working on keeping that back foot planted for longer

    • @AussieGolfPros
      @AussieGolfPros  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep at it Reece. Sounds to me like your trail knee is popping towards the ball in the downswing. Try to keep the trail leg straighter and away from the ball as you turn through towards the target. We’ll be releasing a drill to help golfers with this soon. Flexibility can be an issue with this too. Cheers, Glen

    Do we have to change the ball position for this move?

    • @AussieGolfPros
      @AussieGolfPros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your message Paddy. If the ball position is too far away from the the player, this can promote a recovery movement towards the golf ball, which isn’t ideal.

    Me all over . Lower back problems are not helping . Sum days ball striking is great but more often not very good at all playing of 10.

      Thank you for your message Jason. Sorry to hear about your back. Quite often related to tight hips in golfers. Hope you’re seeing someone about it!

    How frustrating is it when golf pros keep posting fixes on swing issues but not what the cause of the issue is. The whole world has seen this drill.
    WHAT IS THE CAUSE?!

    • @AussieGolfPros

      Thank you for your question Bryan. We recorded this video some time ago and will be filming an update with more information on causes and methods to reduce and eliminate early extension.

    I’ve seen this drill hundreds of times. If this worked very good hardly no one would early extend. I’ve tried all kinds of things to keep my butt back. Don’t work imo

      Hi Charles
      Thank you for your comments. Fixing Early Extension is definitely not easy to achieve. There could be physical limitations involved, as well as the challenges of breaking an ingrained habit.
      The drill should be performed slowly at first and it should be exaggerated.
      We also advise you to have a physical screening with a TPI Certified Professional or similarly qualified physiotherapist.
      Best of luck!
      Glen

    Arent`t you fixing the result of early extension, but not the reason causing it. You added chair and then hit your normal golf shot.. would be easy, if just adding chair behind would fix early extension... sorry, have to disagree.

    • @AussieGolfPros
      @AussieGolfPros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank for your question Kari. I’m curious, what you believe to be the cause(s) of early extension?
      The chair acts as an effective ‘External Focus of Attention’, which is a reference for the golfer to feel a different movement. Tiger Woods has utilised a very similar drill in his own practice. Is this the only way to fix early extension? Of course not. Early extension is often attributed to physical limitations and weaknesses, but that’s for another video.
      I guarantee you, when I am bumping the chair with my backside during the downswing, it is not my ‘normal’ swing.
