@@jchowngolf Ive been EE for almost 10 yrs now.... my competitive golf game has suffered tremendously bc of EE. Didnt realize it until the last 3 yrs (dont like to look at my swing on vid too much.... I see too much and start chasing my tail). But 3 yrs ago... I gave in and had to look at my vids. Narrowed the 'critical error' down to set up.... too far away from ball. My PGA peer had me focus too on my posture...it gave me new lead to look after. You vid also confirmed what my bud was telling me as well. So... new set up and posture...trying to undo 45 yrs of DNA. ugh! Thx
So I ran across this video late last year as I was really struggling to fix this. I had never heard of this technique but I would have tried anything. UNBELIEVABLE!!! It worked immediately and I'm still right in the center of the clubface. I've golfed all my life, gotten many tips, but this was a miracle. Thanks!! Steve
After YEARS of reading books, watching TH-cam videos, and video recording my swing I continued to struggle with early extension...and then I came across your video today which freed me from my early extension. Finally all the drills I practiced for years have now afforded me a golf swing like Tiger Woods! God bless you!
Ya it’s work. I’ve been doing this for a month using V1 , also start with the hips tucked at setup and on the downswing untuck or feel like your pointing your belt buckle or belly button to the ground. I do this and it will make sure you don’t early extend.
Hi JChown, I do teach this to people I work with. I start with the framework of "Don't fight your body, be YOUR athlete" and people find out they don't have clubs that come close to fitting them. My personal best driver swing speed is 137mph based on a balanced athletic posture that's responsive during my swing. People I've helped out are more excited because they feel like they are athletic during their swings and are able to use their natural abilities. Thanks for keeping it real as always. I will be uploading a simplified athletic golf swing series and this is going to be the main focus of it.
Mate what a great video really struggle with early extension in my golf swing worse in my wedges shaking all the time just braking my heart atm . This mite be the help I need.
Agreed. The rigid, butt-out posture only works for the best athletes. It causes the player with average mobility to stand up and rebalance. Setting up more relaxed with less angles promotes a squat forsure. This is an excellent take on an infuriating fault.
Thanks for the kind words! The Nicklaus era posture was by far the more dynamic/freer posture. The overly aesthetic driven golf instruction of the 90’s/ early 00’s is thankfully fading away. Substance and biomechanics over style is the way forward 👍🏼
Great video, think this might be the cause of my early extension, can't wait to give it a try. I have tried the golf bag against my bum method and it works until I move the golf bag out the way.
I have always been taught to set up the traditional way and most teaching appears to advocate it. As I still 'early extend' , I will try this set up you suggest. Always open to new ideas. Are there any tour pros setting up this way!!
All the big names back in the day like Nicklaus, Sneed, Hogan (you’ll be hard pressed to find any player from that era who didn’t set up this way) all never struggled with early extension (only Nicklaus to a degree due to his depth). A modern guy who also sets up like this is Matthew Wolff
I have struggled with EE induced heel contact for the last two years. I tried every tip on the internet and all the local golf instructors lessons - nothing worked. I knew it had to be some “invisible” detail I was missing. Posterior pelvic tilt at address just may be it.
Early extension is always an effect of something else happening earlier in the swing. Posture is a big one! Stay tuned to the channel as I’ve got a video to be filmed soon all about the different reasons we early extend 👍🏼
Yup, pretty much how it works. When you stand tall in a true athletic stance, you can substantially increase swing speed as you've made a stable platform to rotate around. The reality of the situation is that for most people the golf clubs they have are not only too short but also too flat.
Hi, mate. I've long dealt with my weight being too far on my toes, which explains why I sometimes lose my balance falling forward after my swing. However, when I try to address this at setup (I do a little thing where I make sure I can lift my toes/heels back and forth...don't judge :-) I find that now I need to add a lot more knee bend in my address. Is it now just a matter of scooting closer to the ball? I don't wish to get too close, do I? (shank!!!) Thanks. Enjoying your vids.
Hi bud. There’s a couple of variables to make sure you have locked down to set up correctly. You need to make sure that you’re relaxing/slightly rounding the mid/upper back to get onto the golf ball to avoid overly bending the knees. If you’re still too far away, then moving closer will be a good idea, the hang low sign 🤙🏻 with the thumb on your belt buckle and little finger on the butt end of the club is the ideal distance from the ball 👍🏼
Another great video. I have tendencies to thin the ball and thought it was due to timing my extension. I never realized it could be an effect of poor posture. I also have tendencies to lose balance forward at times. Do you think improperly fitted clubs can cause some players to adopt poor posture, leaning over too much to reach the ball to maintain lie angle?
Sign of a GOOD instructor.... one who understands cause n effect. He emphasizes 'root cause' or 'master key' to fix swing faults.
Thanks Patrick! Absolutely, if the root cause isn’t fixed, you’ll just be spinning your wheels.

Can't wait to try this tomorrow. Nothing has worked so far and have tried most every cure out there. subbed
Have a great practice 🤙🏻
Brilliant advice. This will save your back.
Wish I'd seen this before going to the range this evening! I'll have to wait for Thursday evening before I can try it out.
I've just found this video and going to give this a try at the range 🤞
Best tutorial on early Extention I have ever seen thank you.
Wow thanks for the kind words Alan! Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Brilliant video, worked for me, thank you so much.
I've struggled with this problem for years, but I have never heard this.
Great video, thanks for the tips. Been battling this for a long time.
Thanks Matt! I’m glad you found the video helpful!

Great names in golf.
Looking forward to working on the set up you suggest.
Thanks.

Fleetwood?
Well done 👍 thanks 🙏 for the informative video
Glad you liked it Moshin! 🤙🏻
Thank you! 🙂

One year later .. was this the Rosetta Stone?
Well explained

Swing the club back and forth several times and note where your hips are. Duplicate that position at address.

GG teaches this
He sure does! George is the man 🤙🏻
@@jchowngolf his vids can be tough to follow though. He seems to always be giving a lesson and and we join somewhere in the middle.
Shades of Hogan... 🙂👍🙏
Absolutely, all the old school guys had this exact set up
This is exactly how Tiger used to setup before the whole “golfers are super athletes” trend
It certainly was! Ironically the modern set up hinders athleticism rather than encourages it
Think of being on a surfboard.
Being on a surfboard before riding a wave then sure 👍🏼
1:30 ...... cut to the chase, you're welcome. ...."How set up can fix your early extension. (FOR GOOD!)"
This is more of a question. Do you need to move a little closer to the ball?
Seems to me that you're presetting your early extension
Talk talk talk!!!! - get to the fucking point!!!
Your reply says more about your intelligence than anything else. Great video.
