Why though? Is being a temple pujari an attractive career choice? It doesn’t have long hierarchy like Christianity or Buddhism. So no prospect of promotion. I don’t see this profession is contributing anything to the society and it’s a monotonous and uncreative thing to do.

More than caste, gender justice is a very important factor in building an equitable Indian society. We have the lowest lowest rate of female labour participation rate India 19% lower than Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. First, provide reservations for women in the educational institutions and jobs for girls and ladies.

You cannot ignore the caste reality in India. To build a more egalitarian society, it is crucial to lift millions out of their dire living conditions through well-tailored policies. Additionally, implementing reservations for women and improving the economic conditions of the poor among higher castes are vital steps toward achieving greater equity. The effectiveness of a caste assessment in achieving this objective is debatable. It goes without saying that political parties have their own motives for supporting or opposing the demand for a caste census.
As a first step let us boycott, if not ban, caste Matrimonial websites😂
Then ALL should be involved, not as Privileged and Non-Privileged. I think that International Censuses include Income Bracket and is used for Statistical Purposes.

Is Rahul Gandhi an Indian? The answer is yes. His father was a mix of Brahmin and Parsi. His mother presumably a Roman Catholic and from caucasian or Anglo background. In Hindus the wife is assimilated into the husband's caste and gotra. So, legally speaking, Rahul Gandhi is an Indo Anglian by race and a Brahmin by caste. Of course hoodlums becoming MPs would not know of such fine distinctions. Xenophobic bigots however do not represent all of India. BJP and RSS have never treated women well or as equals. This fellow Thakur comes from there. With regard to a detailed census it is high time this country did it and made results available.
Yeah, the argument they use is so stupid. For example, I'm an Anglo-Indian and if this logic were to be used then my ancestors who were children of British parents weren't Indian despite being born in India and as a result I wouldn't be classified as an Indian by that logic.

India had a history of castism.Upper casts especially brahmins controlled education, culture, governing rule, societies,custom, divition of work, wealth, and not else. It is a rule of 'chathuvarnya'. When Mughals arrive here there were so many kinds of divisions and costumes that did not match the time and their belief.They could take the rule because of different kingdoms and their enmity between them and society were divided by cast.Thus they had no enmity by local people. Some extend Mughals try to eliminate some kinds of customs. After two century the British defeated Mughals because of their modern weaponry After british rule they also took steps to modernise society, but they wanted existence and expansion of their kingdom.For that they made division among So called Hindu and Muslims. This was their tactic so national freedom fright leaders understood the british tactics and they tried to unite the Hindu muslim and made participation in the freedom movement.By that time upper cast people became the powerful in all walks of life. Etc. Ruling force bureaucrats, rulers, financial and educational fields. Thus they try to establish only their control by nepotism and back stash all other spheres of another society.After independence our constitution took the matter and established reservation for socially and educationally backward people. It is not achieved by the time being.If it conducted a cast economic census we will get the actual picture of society,thus we can plan and uphold the policy with accurately.Cast census is not against any cast but reality must be accepted every one and make sure the discrimination against all and social justice must be implemeted.

They should evaluate how Kerala has evolved from cast system wherein after the independence, the difference was huge and the low cast people where to wear something that make notice to show that they're on the public and the high caste people stay away.

Forward caste people economically weaker are not discriminated based on caste. Definitely being economically weaker, forward caste people should be helped financially by giving scholarships, education loan ect ect.but not by reservation. Reservation was implemented to eradicate the discrimination amongst people based on castes and not based on economy.
But now Reservation is given to the 'Privileged' Some people are converting to belong to the privileged groups. Logic - What is the End Game?

Don't be disingenuous. Thakur's words were not asking what Rahul Gandhi's caste (Jaati) was. They were a deliberate slur (jiski jaat ka pati nahi) essentially questioning RG's birth and parentage (jaat) and genealogy.
I thought YY wanted to approach the problem with logic. He said count first and solve after. So counting does not really solve the problem.
Would it not it be better to ‘count’ where caste is being used to make decisions and hit on those places with a hammer?
IMHO, there should be pushback on any kind of ‘Identity’ politics.
I want to know if caste census will remove the severe malnutrition and wasting of poor children that is reducing cognative ability. What we need is skills census and disadvantage census. If they want caste numbers it is very simple. They know which caste is taking the benefits of sc st etc. So the census is already there. Let us look at BPL, malnutrition etc.

Caste census is a must if affirmative reservation system is still needed for benefitting those who are really poor. Ideally affirmative benefits of resrevation need to reach those who are truly poor irrespective of their caste and religion.

It is amazing. Thought this guy is anti bjp and he concluded what modi kept saying that there are only four casts , farmer, woman, poor and youth. This guy has acknowledged 3 of them. Not sure he is planning to move to bjp but acknowledgement of the truth was refreshing. Having said that i am absolutely against any discriminatory census in 2024. Say there are 2 boys from different backgrounds - One from a rich, affluent class with access to all resources, and another from a poor one with three meals itself being a challenge. Both are competing for a job. How would you handle this?

Instead of reservation in the job govt can facilitate the platform and required resources for skills to underprivileged and then it is the merit in the final interview or exam should decide who should get the job. The country has tried reservations for some time now and that hasn’t really changed the ground reality…. The political class has no other option but to educate the masses if they truly want to see our country progress….Education will teach the masses that castesim is not correct and that is the only thing in my opinion that will change the lives of the oppressed…..mind you, good quality education….its a long term strategy but so has the reservation been & that has not borne any fruits…..it’s high time we change our strategy to make our society better…. I Doubt it will happen in my lifetime or any of the politicians lifetime. Hello Barkha. I would like to know if there will be another interview, with someone whi does not share Mr Yadav's utterly vulturistic, anarchic views. He is the poster boy of identity politics in India. The caste census is specifically aimed at urban India, to divide the one section of the population which stands in the way of the woke political class from grabbing power. They will play on every division among us, and will be comfortable with any volume of street violence and thuggery in the name of social justice.
